Apparently, the student discount, mentioned on the website, is no longer available. Only EU citizens can pay 1500, the rest 2000. Many photos of which displayed in Google Maps are expositions from previous exhibits. All of them are temporary, so don’t plan on seeing anything particular or something that caught your eye. The showrooms take only one floor. The current one is the collection of Peter Vay, a monastery worker and Japanese culture enthusiast. 5 rooms altogether. The best part of the museum is the outside garden - moon gates, statues and stunning plants, like bamboo and Japanese maple. However, garden looked accessible without a ticket. I suggest visiting it and taking close look on the current theme inside not to get disappointed.

We went for the Asian Art exhibit, and I have to say, I was a little disappointed. I think I would just skip it next time, if I had to do it again. There was no description of anything we saw on display, only the names and a lot about the European expeditions/collectors, but barely anything about the Asian culture. In my opinion, the gift shop had more interesting art than the actual exhibit. However, the staff were really nice.👌

The unexpected Budapest out of the touristic mainstream. If you are a passionate of history and ethnography, you can't miss this visit. A small exhibition however worthy of the visit. At the end you can relax in the rear garden. I really enjoyed it.

The museum was opened only on one floor, displaying very representative and interesting art from Indian culture. A bit disappointing as the rest of Asia wasn't available.

A small museum with the odd gem from artists such as Hokusai, and other interesting asian art. Rotating exhibitions in a calm and intimate setting. The garden outside and out the back is worth a stroll as well.

Outside of the museum you can read the story of Ferenc Hopp's life. An amazing man, Optician, Business an, Art Collector, Photographer and most interesting of all, World Traveler at a time in the 19th Century when few people travelled. He bequeathed this house to be a museum for Eastern Asiatic Arts which it is today. There are strong ancestoral links between Hungary and Mongolia. A number of researchers travelled to Mongolia from the 1870s to explore the origins of Hungarians. The current exhibition introduces Mongolian Art and Culture with a display of many original items and graphics obtain from these exhibitions. Don't miss the tranquil garden after visiting the museum.

(Translated by Google) I would say it is an almost must see if you visit Budapest. You will know first-hand and see with your own eyes how this bunker worked in times of war. Once inside, the very environment of the place transmits so much suffering that you will walk with maximum respect and put yourself in the place of the population of the past. It can only be accessed with a guide, paying entrance. There is no guide who speaks Spanish, so the tour is in English. If you do not get along very well with the Anglo-Saxon language, they also give you some telephones in which you can reproduce in Spanish the explanation of each of the spaces in the bunker.

I found this place by accident but it was one of the highlights of my trip. It is tiny, yes, but absolutely worth it. The lady at the desk is super lovely. The exhibit is very interesting but the best part was the small garden. They have lovely Buddhist statues and it is a serene place to just sit and rest after walking around the city.

My place of pilgrimage when I'm in Budapest. I love this little known museum. They also have a wonderful library, make sure to plan the visit ahead of time, so that the library is open.

A fascinating collection of paraphernalia and waxworks throughout this amazing slice of hidden Hungarian history. Just a shame that yours aren’t currently conducted English and it feels a bit rushed getting through the exhibition. That said, the very nice lady giving the tour in Hungarian was super helpful to us in English, whenever she could be. Great staff here. Only other gripes being that we couldn’t take photos and that there were some great opportunities for gift shop purchases such as postcard replicas of the awesome posters, or replicas of the some of the medicine packaging and labels (for the design-minded nerds amongst us!)

(Translated by Google) There were 22 people in one group, but considering COVID 19, the group was taken into 2 groups. We set off with the first small group. Already in the first 10 meters it became clear that the pace was a bit fast. We arrived at the medical devices, which were in a closet, nicely labeled, grouped. As I watched my group set off, by the time the leader of the other group was already there. He also told me not to miss out on my group. I remarked that the young man was running a bit. Part of our history is this museum, which is very well illustrated and gives the 'atmosphere' as much as possible.More BUT there are ... 1.The exhibition guide seemed to be in a running race, we had to hurry after that -1 hour was spent to watch the exhibition - it made me feel "let's be over it". It follows the second DE. One hour is not enough to look at everything normally, it is to look closely at the completely excluded. 3. Basically, I would still say expensive. if I did not take into account the negatives mentioned above, so I say that it is cheekily expensive. I think this exhibition deserves more respect (no) in more ways. I just trust the bosses sitting behind the desk, or those who run this exhibit, to read the written reviews, reflect on and change them. In any case, thank you for the experience. Miközben nézegettem a csoportom elindult, mire a másik csoport vezetője mar oda ért. Ebből következik a második DE.

The place is undoubtedly really interesting. The problem was that you can only enter by paying a tour, a tour that is not good, the girl had clearly memorized it and the whole time it felt like she was reading a script, instead of it just flowing naturally. When we asked her something she clearly did not understand the question and replied back with another memorized comment, if she didn't understand she could've just said so instead of replying something that had no relation whatsoever with our question. I guess after a really hot day in Budapest coming down here is cool because it's quite cold. But I'm definitely not coming back. And you can't take pictures.

(Translated by Google) The facility is captivating and the stories they experience are shocking, their lifelike display. The tour itself was a bit hectic, it would have been better to have more time and a calmer viewing experience, but overall it was well worth it, even several times.

(Translated by Google) We were really looking forward to your visit, we were sure you would really like it. Unfortunately, we had to be very disappointed because we got a dry drive that puffed up commonplaces and didn’t say much. The most annoying thing was that the leader of the group that followed us sounded fantastic, they had a great time. Not a star, because the place itself is good, we support other visitors to get the five-star guidance 😔 (Original) Nagyon vártuk a látogatást, biztosak voltunk benne, hogy nagyon tetszeni fog.

(Translated by Google) Participating in the tour was an exceptional place, an incomparable feeling. The guide was prepared and handed over perfectly everything that had happened there in the previous century. They were first introduced to the history of the place in a screening, after which we were introduced to the mysteries of the place. The tour was a bit hasty, we would have liked to watch more at each station, but other than that it was a great program. We can only recommend.

The environment was weird that we were downstairs, but we had to see. I don’t recommend it for 12 years, because as an adult, his past is a bit depressing. • 3/5 Fruzsina H. 3 years ago on Google
(Translated by Google) It would simply be fantastic to be able to look apart normally. Why are there so many old medical instrument showcases when the guided tour is so limited? You had to rush about if you’re a little behind, you’re pushed, even though there’s a lot of interesting info and history, but it loses a lot of its value. Regardless, it's worth a look.

I really enjoyed this visit. Easy to access from Castle/St. Matthias Church. Tours run every 30 min during peak hours. It moved at a decent pace. Starts with an intro video and then a guided tour. Really neat to learn it's history and changes over time. Also good way to escape the heat outside. Wish the group had a been a tad smaller but enjoyed it anyways.

Friendly staff, great exhibits, very informative and extremely intriguing. My family and I had a great time visiting this museum and would recommend anyone coming to Budapest to put this on their list. It isn't one of the most well known museums but deserves every bit of recognition.
