We were very excited to come here because of Mark Wiens YouTube video review. Came in at around 2pm on Sunday. The place was somewhat filled but we were seated inside quickly. We ordered white and red wines - according to the waiter’s suggestions - and the famous goulash soup, duck leg with liver and the stuffed cabbage dish. Goulash shop was amazing but the Duck was very dry which was a huge disappointment. Probably it was left in the oven too long. Stuffed cabbage was good. When we told them that we’re paying with card, the bill came with 15% tip included in the total which was no problem. We paid and left the restaurant but later found that they overcharged us! I only had one glass each of Etiyeki white wine and Riesling wine, but they charged two each. They also charged two glasses of Cabernet Sauvignon for my husband although he only had one. It is disgraceful of them to trying to take advantage of the tourists, and this is the kind of characteristics that can define the overall impression of your country, especially because this restaurant is not some street vendor but an established, very well known and otherwise respectful business that people wouldn’t expect this kind of cheating. They probably thought we wouldn’t figure it out because we don’t speak Hungarian, but they’re mistaken. If you go there, make sure to check your bill before you pay. Deeply disappointed.

Been here about 5 times. I really don't get what the fuss is about this place. I mean it's okay. Just because the place is old doesn't mean it's good. Maybe it's old because there was simply no other family restaurant around it for a long time. There's one meal I really like (turkey with berry sauce!) but other ones are just okay. The service is okay. The vibe is okay. Everything is okay. Maybe next time I visit I might make a different judgment. But personally, for now, it's very average.

We really enjoyed our dinner in the shady garden of Náncsi Néni's. My fish soup was tasty and plentiful, my friend loved the Sunday chicken soup (even though it was a Tuesday) and I had the biggest Sweet cottage cheese dumpling in the history of Sweet cottage cheese dumplings, which was incredibly light in spite of its dimensions!!

Delicious food, good, friendly and courteous service. Prices are reasonable for the quality and large portion sizes. Very nice outdoor space with shade from large trees and an areas for kids to have fun and play. A little tough to find if you've never been in the area but it's well worth it to track it down if you want to enjoy a great dinner. Highly recommended!

They have around double price of an average restaurant, but the quality is higher too. They really know how to cook. Staff is professional and nice above expectation.

was recommended to come here while visiting budapest by my Hungarian friends in the LA. this place was definitely worth the trek from downtown Budapest. Although I cant speak of authenticity because i have nothing to compare Hungarian food to, but based on flavors, texture and just savoring every bite, i found the value of what i paid very much worth the entire meal. i would definitely come back on my next trip back to Budapest!

This is by far the most authentic Hungarian food I had. Brilliant service staff and ambience. Highly recommend for families.

Nice and also touristic Location in the 'cold valley'. Service attentive, food authentic hungarian. But pricey, and 15% service fee included!

Very good goose for Martin’s date. Quite popular among the locals, better to book in advance

The place is conveniently close to pop in to have food. In fair weather you can sit outside under the wild chestnut trees and that's nice. However I don't need to eat this big portions they serve here.

Food and service is still one of the bests in the district in the traditional Hungarian - German (Swabish) - line. An old fashioned restaurant, that mimics the 1990 and 1910 era, with a traditional menu. Exterior seating in the garden during warm months is really cosy, under huge trees. However interior is a bit narrow crowded during cold months.

Fantastic authentic Hungarian food, and a nice and cosy place, weather was good so we dined in the rather large garden. It's a bit of a travel from the city, but it can be managed with public transport or a taxi (App. Huf 4000 in 2020 to Blaha Lujza tér)

What a lovely place to grab a lunch. The portions are very generous so don’t try to order a three course meal straight away. We ordered a local dessert just to try it, and asked them do a half portion, and even that was too much. I can’t even imagine what the real size is! There’s plenty of local dishes on the menu, so that’s what you should try here.

heard amazing reviews from mark weins when he was in Budapest and decided to try it out for ourselves. I already had duck the day before but this duck was heaps better than the one I had. A the meat was so flaky and soft but the skin so crunchy and tasty. the accompanying side dishes, mashed potatoes, red cabbages, goose liver and peaches were so good too, we finished every lick of the dish. we also got the catfish soup, which was delish, it was served with a basket of bread - which was pretty meh. but the meal was satisfying so no complaints. only one complaint tho, the location was a bit out of the way, if u have time to kill then knock yourself out!

If you like to try traditional Hungarian cuisine, you must try it. It is located in the suburb of Budapest. The garden area is really nice place to sit outside from spring till end of the Indian summer. Public transport stops at the nearby, parking can be sometimes challenging. The foods are great and huge portions, the service is fast and polite.

It is far from what it used to be. The fish soup was luke-warm, so was the grilled fish, with sloppy vegetables. The “madártej” was delicious.

Always great tasting food in one of Budapests' best Hungarian restaurants. The Venison was sublime.

Traditional Hungarian food in a beautiful neighbourhood out of the hectic centre of Budapest. In summer there is a lot of space outside. Food is good and service as well. Great for larger groups.

Worth the trip out of town. The food was amazing and the staff kind and helpful. The menu was clearly marked with gluten-free and dairy-free options. There is also a play area for children.

We came here 8 or nine years ago. For me it's still the best restaurant in Budapest.

This lovely place offers you an amazing service, lovely food in a very pleasant, authentic environment. The prices are absolutely adequate, I would recommend it to anyone.

Well. As I have heard amazing things of the restaurant it was a bit of disappointment. Food is nice, staff is nice but I did not feel that extra what I expected. Anyway if you want traditional food it is worth a try. Parking is okay. Lamb and duck liver is recommended, not impressed with the meat soup.

Mid of November, Saturday noon. Restaurant is full of guests. The service is excellent, polite and quick. Currently there are goose days. The food is extraordinary, the soup is tasty and hot, the main dish is freshly prepared. They are willing to serve half portions from foods. I recommend the restaurant everyone who likes ambient environment, good service and foods. I would give them 10 stars although there are 5 of them only.

An amazing place to go for any occasion. Perfect for families with it's big garden and games for the kids. They have a kids menu and cutlery for the little ones. The food is excellent, as well as the service. Totally recommended!

Traditional Hungarian good, great service, nice location - getting there is not easily feasible by public transport though. Great for larger groups, accessible for wheelchairs as well. I recommend to stick to the Hungarian dishes, international kitchen doesn't seem to be their specialty.

I have known them for 15 years and was never let down. A cute cozy place with great dishes. Pricey but on par with the food quality and the service. Recommended! Weekends are usually pretty crowded, so be ahead!
