(Translated by Google) Did you know that the Japanese garden is not only so, and that the Japanese garden is not only a Japanese garden because it contains cherry wood, but also a serious system of landscape architecture design and construction and a tradition dating back hundreds of years ..? The main goal of this process is that the space defined by defined plants provides an opportunity for meditation and meditation. In a Japanese garden you can find not only plants, but a symbol system of all natural wonders. Tutti must have water in a Japanese garden (in the form of a pond or stream), there are small islets, there is a wooden bridge leading to the island, there are stones (the bigger ones represent a mountain, the smaller ones land), there is sand. Well, the 10500 sqm Japanese garden in the northern part of Margaret Island was built in 1936 with the above in mind, as a result of Joseph's palatine measures targeting the spatial planning of Margaret Island from 1867 onwards. The design was already taken so seriously that the rock garden was developed by a company called Spath, and the lake system was run by a contractor named Kunsch. To make the Japanese garden, which is part of Japan's national symbol and Japanese identity, a walking and contemplative and meditating to experience your feeling, choose a time to visit when only you (and a duck) can melt into one in harmony flooding the Japanese garden (Original) Tudtad-e, hogy a japánkert nem csak úgy van, meg hogy a japánkert nem csak azért japánkert, mert cseresznyefa van benne, hanem egy japánkert tervezésének és kialakításának komoly tájépítészeti szabályrendszere, és több száz évre visszanyúló hagyománya van..? No, hát a Margitsziget északi részén lévő, 10500 nm-es japánkert a fentiek figyelembevételével 1936-ban épült, a Margitsziget területrendezését 1867-től megcélzó József nádori intézkedéseinek egyik hozadékaként.

This place is great, but I believe it's not as well kept as it should be. Things are visibly neglected, like the bridge needs minor repair, the weeds need to be removed, and the road needs some patching. There was even one large dead turtle floating by the lake next to the walkway, which was traumatic to see.

absolutely gorgeous, it almost represents a real japanese garden. it's right next to the parking lot which i spacious but paid. (500ft/h i think) the whole Margaret-island is beautiful, well maintained, maybe the best place to hang out with friends/family, have a picnic, play some group game, have a rest and a sunbath (...) the japanese garden is full of life. you can find golden fishes, turtles, frogs, water lilies (...) i loved this place, and also recommend it to visit it once in a lifetime!!!

It was 36 in Budapest the day I was in the Japanese Garden, I absolutely did not feel any heat, it was so relaxed and nice in this garden. The garden is not so big, but it is very beautiful, and you can walk through the whole island it is covered in trees! This is actually the only place I recommend in Budapest for midday chill on 36 degrees :))

(Translated by Google) One of my favorite places I visit several times every season. The good air, the proximity of the Danube, the presence of perennial trees, the special vegetation and atmosphere of the Japanese Garden provide refreshment for the little ones. (Original) Kedvenc helyeim egyike, ahova minden évszakban többször is ellátogatok. A jó levegő, a Duna közelsége, a sokéves fák jelenléte, a Japánkert különleges növényzete, hangulata, felüdülést nyújt kicsiknek nagyoknak.

JAPANESE GARDEN In the northern corner of the island, you'll find the Japanese garden, a charming little oasis with two interconnected ponds. It's definitely worth a visit and a moment of relaxation.

(Translated by Google) I really like this place. In Budapest, such a small green pond place can really be thrown away. (Original) Igazán szeretem ezt a helyet. Budapesten egy ilyen kis zöld, tavacskás hely igazán feltud dobni.egyetlen kifogásom, hogy lehetne több pad , esetleg egy kicsit nagyobb területen.

Not as interesting as the other stuff in the garden but it's nice because it has a pond and a whole lot of japanese plants That this whole Garden is free of charge is a mystery to me 🙂 specially considering how this city likes to charge everything, I guess being a bit far off helps

A place where one can be in harmony with nature.  Located on the northern part of the island, the Japanese Garden was constructed in the 1970s and was most recently renovated in the autumn of 2014.  The garden is accessible by a small wooden bridge, followed by paths edged in centuries-old plants leading further in.  Awaiting you inside, among other things, is a delicately cascading waterfall.  The garden’s reservoirs and channels form a system of small ponds in which goldfish, turtles, wild ducks, and water lilies all live out their tranquil lives.  Adorning the centre of the fishpond since 1954 is a statue known as “The Little Mermaid of Budapest,” the work of Imre Csikász.

Very pretty garden. 🌿 It’s good to walk around in a different atmosphere especially in a sunny day. However it was smaller than I expected and it took only 10 minutes to see everything thing but you can visit there when you can also stop by while walking around 🌺

  • 5/5 David U. 3 years ago on Google
There are a lot turtles in the lake, mostly throwed there by their formerly owners. Between the sidestones around the lake you can discover an ancient roman gravestone on the southern side. Its more pale than the other stones, and has some text on.

Really pleasant pastime, both for children and adults) Simple and intelligible, beautiful and calming) By the way, when we walked here, there were a lot of people, but it seemed to level the park. Like one went. The child liked it) And, do not forget to visit the mini-zoo. He's not far)

Very beautiful small and clean garden in the heart of Budapest. Definitely worth to see. Places to sit are available. I saw ducks, frogs, many fishes, and turtles. At the end of the garden is a public toilet for 250ft. You can get there either by walk or bus. I would recommend to take the bus as it is a big island. If you want to refill your bottle with water or drink something you can get it from a fountain.

Beautiful garden, we absolutely loved seeing the turtle and fish in the ponds!! It’s a great place to go on a hot day because there’s lots of shade and it has a very relaxing atmosphere. Definitely go and check it out if you’re in the area.

  • 4/5 Reda H. 1 year ago on Google
The moment I walked into this place, I was immediately struck by its serene and tranquil atmosphere. The Japanese Garden in Budapest is truly a hidden gem in the heart of the city. As I strolled through the garden, I was impressed by the attention to detail and the meticulous upkeep of the various flora and fauna. It's clear that the staff take great pride in maintaining this oasis of peace and tranquility. The service was impeccable, and the staff were knowledgeable and friendly. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had about the garden and its history. The only reason I didn't give this place a perfect 5-star rating is due to its limited size. While the garden is certainly stunning, I was left wanting more. That being said, I would still highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. What sets this garden apart from others in Budapest is its authentic Japanese design and attention to detail. The Koi pond was a particularly stunning feature, and I found myself spending quite a bit of time admiring the colorful fish. If the garden were to expand its offerings, perhaps by adding more walking paths or additional features, it would be truly exceptional. Overall, I'm very grateful to the staff and owners of the Japanese Garden in Budapest for providing such a peaceful and calming environment. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a bit of tranquility in the heart of the city.

Well looked after communal Japanese garden at the end of the Margit island with good public transport availability. I personally don't like the boring surface materials which don't suit to the style but the design and planting is great.

Traveled a long time to get here due to the positive reviews, but eventually it was very underwhelming. Really small, and perhaps better to visit during the summer. In the winter there were also no animals like mentioned in the other reviews, there were no fish or turtles in sight

It's called as Japanese Garden because of the koi pond and bamboo shoots. The Japanese Garden is a small part of the very large Margaret Island. The island has a lot of different trees and plants of which the Japanese garden is a unique feature. :) Small place to sit on a bench near a pond. Good for small kids and pets. Also best for photography enthusiasts. So many different angles and perspectives.

Nice and calm garden with couple of small water ponds, nice waterfall and traditional Asian flowers. There is a nice statue of a girl somehow reminding the statue of the Mermaid in Copenhagen. Nice and well kept. A tiny bridge, some sculptures, a lake, little paths, birds and turtles, as well as many different plants and benches scattered around make it very welcoming. With it being on the Margit island, it can get pretty busy, at least during the summer, when I was there. Still, I would recommend seeing it.
