Cozy, quirky atmosphere with out of this world hot chocolate! This is the kind of place you need to visit to get a taste of the heart and soul of Budapest. The owner couldn’t be nicer or more welcoming! On top of recommending a beautiful drink for me, he would also stroll by with leftover chocolate from other drinks to drop a spoonful in our empty cups to try. It was such a lovely place to warm up and spend an evening. The new location is more open and has more space to sit, but is still very cozy! I’ll definitely come back here the next time I’m in Budapest.

Such a unique place! 🤩 One of the best if not the best place to have a hot chocolate. ☕ The atmosphere is astonishing! Kind of an old style, like a ruin bar, full of fluffy teddy bears. 🧸 The place is ran by the owner itself, who is a very generous, honest man, with a great style. If you ask for the menu, be prepared for the answer: "what would you like?" because he does have (almost) everything. He has white chocolate, dark chocolate varies from 50% up to 85%, and all kinds of toppings you can imagine. Even fried onions, I am not kidding 🙂 You can decide what would you like to have. Please prefer cash payment, and leave a tip if you like the place to help the owner keeping the prices low. Bear in mind that since it is a very famous place, you have to reserve a table. 📅 All in all it is an amazing experience, and it is cheap! 🔝

This place is so unique! The owner is very kind and it is true that you do have to wait a little bit before he comes and takes your order. The hot chocolate though are to die for! The are rich, full of flavour and he makes the most beautiful drinks too! Each drink is unique and he adds all sorts of ingredients from chestnut, raspberries, cinnamon and more. I highly recommend it and we are planning on going there again!

The best hot chocolate in Budapest at the coziest, most heartwarming place ever! The owner prepares the drinks himself and he’s literally the kindest man with grandpa vibes surrounded by hundreds of teddy bears. Keep in mind that this place is very popular so it’s highly recommended to book a table in advance. Also remember that it’s a slow service place considering all the drinks are prepared with lots of care, so don’t go there if you’re in a rush. Perfect place for a meet up with friends and to have long talks. We had the almond- raspberries white hot-chocolate and the orange dark chocolate one. They were both heavenly. Such unique experience for a very affordable price. Don’t miss this special place!🧸🤎

Super unique place! It feels both like a museum and coffee/tea/hot chocolate shop. Words cant really describe this place, my girlfriend was speechless the whole time there.

Literally the most cozy, warm, accepting and friendly place I ever visited! We didn't have any reservations, but the owner welcomed us with open arms! Even tho we only ordered 2(godly) hot chocolates he let us try 4-5 different flavoured chocolates!!! He said that it was for the missing years we didn't come here. There's so much more to write but I don't want to make this review any longer. Overall a must visit place if you want to feel special or if you ever feel down just come here and I promise you'll leave happily afterwards!!! Will come back for sure more than once!!!

We walked past here on our walk back to where we were staying, and originally just stopped in to have a look at the interior as we were curious about all of the bears. After a few minutes of chatting with the owner we decided to stop in and try the hot chocolates. The owner talked us through the menu, as we don't speak Hungarian, and took our orders specifically according to our own tastes and I can confirm - the hot chocolates were the most amazing thing I have ever tasted! The owner was incredibly friendly and kind to us, and made the afternoon an unforgettable experience! This cafe is a must visit when in Budapest. Considering all of the effort and hard work the owner put into the hot chocolates, we would have paid double what we paid!

Very quaint place with antique items and many many teddy bears. The hot chocolate is phenomenal. Truly the best I've ever had. There's no formal menu, and you can ask for pretty much any flavor combination you want. The worker will recommend an alternative if something you ask for won't go well together. When I went there wasn't a need to reserve, but I can see how it can get more packaged so if you're able to reserve in advance, you should.

Wow. No menu. You choose what chocolate you want and then it's hand made. You choose the % of chocolate. A delightful bearded proprietor, Tibor, straight out of your favourite Christmas Movie Christmas Story Book, delivers appetisers whilst enquiring where you're from. Because each dish is handmade there's a waiting time but it's well worth it. THIS is the highlight of Budapest. Booking should ideally be 2 days in advance. The premises are small, warm and cozy, resembling Santa's Grotto in the Victorian era. Rengeteg has had visitors from over 160 countries: for good reason.

Definitely the best place for a date in Budapest! The definition of coziness. The shelter for bears 🧸 The whole experience was amazing. I’ve never seen anything like this. Dear owner: my congratulations for creating such a beautiful and creative place like this, with a solid idea behind. I wish there were more places like this in the city. The chocolate was delicious, but that’s only a tiny part of the experience. I’m grateful for going and definitely will come back ❤️☕️🍫🧸

Fantastic place with the kindest owner! Made my birthday special, reminding that the age is just a number) I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for artistic and cozy atmosphere and great tasting hot chocolate drink. But better do a booking, the place is very loved by sweet people of Budapest :)))

Great cozy place. Lot of options to choose from! The service was great and kind to us. They gave us recommendations on what types of hot chocolate to have. It did take them a while to bring our hot chocolate but they apologised for the delay. The atmosphere was great with the cute teddy bears. We had cosy little corner place separated from the rest of the tables which made the experience even better. Only thing that bothered me that you can’t pay with card. They do accept bank transfers though but it really makes paying difficult. Cash is accepted! Overall I would recommend this place to anyone that would like to check it out. Book a table in advance cause it was very full!

Very cosy and cute place. Full of teddy bears with old school French music in background. Hot chocolate was very tasty really, just a bit to thick - texture was more like a pudding than a drink. Nice, friendly service although it would be nice if they would remove some dust from here and there.

This is my favorite cafe in Budapest. It is a stunning little spot packed with teddy bears, history, and French music played on an old-fashioned turntable. The hot chocolate is fantastic—you can make it to order. I recommend 55.5% chocolate with blueberries for a cold pop. Their selection of tea is also spectacular. I felt so welcome.

This place is an absolute gem. I can confidently say it's the best I've ever tasted in my entire life, surpassing even the renowned hot chocolate options in Paris. Surprisingly, this delightful indulgence comes at a more affordable price point too. The 'create-your-own' concept adds an extra layer of excitement, and the staff member I interacted with was incredibly helpful in guiding me to the best hot chocolate for me. One quick note is that they don’t accept credit cards, so international travelers should likely be prepared with cash.

Best hot chocolate in Budapest and a very unique experience. There are more than 300 flavours you can ask for in your hot chocolate. I tried salted caramel and hazelnut which was amazing. It's always crowded but we were lucky to find a table. The owner is a very nice old man, who speaks perfect English so ordering was really easy. It used to be around the Corvin area previously but the new location is better in my opinion.

😳🧸 Stephen King vibes run strong in this cafe which fully acts out its name (which literally means "a great deal" or even "a little bit too much"). Grandma would approve of maxing out using every surface as an opportunity to display decorative objects. From bears, to twigs on the wall, to tea choices, there is a little bit too much of it. Sitting a bit crouched on the upstairs bench you wonder what misdemeanour has sentenced the old bear to be strapped to a chair above the cafe, and almost anticipate the fat bear opposite him to slowly turn his head towards you and whisper "shhh, that you should not ask". 🤫 You better go back to reading the bear-themed literature, from Paddington to a German book with vague incest-vibes (see pic), while sipping a drink picked from a menu—handwritten to complement the grandma vibes. ✍️ You might not be 100% sure what you're ordering, but you can be sure it will be a little bit too much. 💯% love for the bizarre bear bistro with bold brews and a bewitched barista.

Reserve seats because this place is almost always full. This place is for hot chocolate lovers, people who love cozy places and well…basically everyone. Everything is extremely delicious and cheap as well. The people are incredibly kind. You can choose from around 1600+ types of flavours! I can only recommend this place!!

An adorable and unique spot to enjoy a coffee or hot chocolate. The owner is very kind and helpful when choosing a drink, and the atmosphere is cozy. The hot chocolates are delicious and very thick (like Parisian hot chocolate!) There are near infinite options of hot chocolate, smoothies, coffee, and the like. Board games and old books are available at every table to play and read. We had a lovely time, thank you!!

  • 5/5 Bailey G. 7 months ago on Google
The most insanely good hot chocolate I have ever tasted, it was so thick you can eat it with a spoon! The owner was lovely and helped us with ordering, and even let us try some other flavours of drinks! The decorations are also so cool, and overall the vibe was awesome. 100% must visit while in Budapest!

The best hot chocolate in Budapest! Such a lovely owner who is really passionate and will sit down with you to craft the most amazing hot chocolate you have ever had. The decoration and quirkiness of the shop is amazing. Would highly recommend for anyone visiting!

Beary cozy.;) Better to book in time. Thick, quality hot chocolate. Stunning presentation and friendly, helpful staff. I’ll have to try different flavors to get a better overall impression.:) Worth a visit. -Cash payment. -Not wheelchair accessible but they do provide take-aways for collection. -Kids might be tempted to play with the bear collection, so parent supervision advised. -Parking in the street close by. -I enjoyed a dark hot chocolate with blueberries and ginger, and loved the natural taste. Not sweet. You pick your own combination and pay accordingly. (They offer up to 80% dark chocolate) -Others had white chocolate, ginger and gin; and dark chocolate, chili and rum, with an ice cream or cream topping, of course.;)

Cozy atmosphere with teddy bears all around and French music 🧸 the servers are friendly and hot chocolate is delicious. The only downside is It took them 90 mins to get me a cup of hot chocolate. Hot chocolate is very heavy pudding-like, you need the spoon to eat/drink it. Tried milk chocolate with salted caramel and whipped cream. They accept cash/IBAN/Revolut. The service is very slow, go there if you have extra time and if you are patient.

The best chocolate I've ever had in my life. Served by an incredible and passionate manager in an out of time place with a warm atmosphere. It's highly recommended during a cold day... But also for summer or every day 🥹.

Absolutely amazing place with a magical owner. No menu so you can order your customized hot chocolate however you want, the sky's the limit! The atmosphere is super cozy, the place is filled with teddy bears and retro stuff. Undoubtedly one of my favorite location in Budapest, truly a unique, must-visit place in the city! Been here many times and will come back again and again!

A wonderful discovery during our stay in Budapest. The manager is smiling and invested to 300% and the place brings warmth and comfort in this cold season. The prices are more than reasonable for the quality and the love that is brought to the chocolates made.

The owner is so sweet , he was busy and I decided to leave but instead he offered free 3 hot chocolates which tasted amazing, the interior is interesting as well , thank you will be back

Great mix of tastes and ingredients! The owner is such a kind and helpful person. Cozy atmosphere and an interior theme with such a nostalgic feeling. It's a must visit for all chocolate or tea lovers.

If I can rate it with 10 , I would do it - not only because you can find the best hot chocolate there but also for the atmosphere and the owner who is so nice and friendly to feel you like you are invited at his home to drink a hot chocolate. We have been in June , in the afternoon to relax and escape from the rain outside. There is no menu and you can create within help of the owner hot chocolate for your taste. It’s delicious and it’s worth it to go. Don’t be surprised if you want to try more than one. Just walk a bit far from the city center and don’t miss that place. If we are going back to Budapest - it’s definitely in our list to go again! It’s cash only!

I would definately recommend this RomKafe to my friends. This place is so cute with lots of teddy bears, even the number of bears is more than the number of guests there. The drinks taste good and the price is not high at all. I took lots of photos there, really enjoyed it.
