It is a museum that offers great play options for children. Everything has been thought for them to experience. I enjoyed it very much during my visit. Everyone who is working was amazing and helpful. You can see lots of collection at the same time. If you have children, you should definitely bring!! And museum shop it's not that expensive too!!

Not so big like other Natural museum, but good to visit. Theres 3 floor of animals, a lot of stones and plants. Theres puzzles for kids, but quite used - need to replace for new one. Plus - you can pay by card, a lot of labels also in english, cheap ticket (family ticket 4500huf). Minus - part with animal quite small, not all touch screen with information work, far away from city center.

Very interesting and nice place to visit to learn a lot about the Hungarian natural heritage, special exhibitions about the hun empire and dinosaur who is find in Hungary make things extra interesting, however the downside of this museum is the layout and it feels like you are in a maze, lot of stairs but there are elevators available. The outside “dinosaur” garden could be more interesting, because now some dinosaur figures are planted without any information and it gives you no information at all. This said I still recommend to visit the museum at least once.

Given that it's supposed to be, for my understanding, a place to visit, one would expect that this site is friendly for international visitors. Unfortunately it is most certainly not. Neither of the workers spoke English which it could be understandable if the signs and explanations (or even the map on the walls) would have any other language but the problem is that almost no sign, other than the "Don't touch" signs, more or less, was in English. So it could've been a fun part of our trip but it was just wandering around and wondering what does the writings say. No Wifi, no mobile reception either. No guided maps (they were out). Wouldn't recommend a foriegner up untill they will change their way.

Apart from the minerals and rock collection, this place can be quite boring. It's mostly for educating kids and the specimen is not very exciting (lots of plastic replica).

I've been to 10+ natural history museums in Europe and this is the most disappointing out of them. The dinosaur garden "ceased to exist " as one of the staff members told us and a lot of the interesting parts of the museum were off limits. There was no butterfly room and most of the staff didn't speak any english and were rude. There are 2 aquariums with live fish. The exhibits are somewhat randomly arranged. The most interesting part was certainly the last floor. I can see it being informative for kids, but if you are an adult lover of natural history museums, you can just skip this one.

Small but lovely place for young and old to learn. Entrance cost is cheap (not sure why kids can't go in for free) and the place is nice and plenty of exciting things to see. They have a 🦕 exhibition in the park where the kids can see various types. Good place and when my kids will be older I will definitely will be back.

(Translated by Google) Perfect family program! We spent almost 5 hours in the museum with a 6-year-old and a 3-year-old child very home, full of experiences. The scuba diving room is a great place for kids to get their hands on everything, it’s a great reward for them after a lot of viewing. We also learned a lot as adults! I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to spend quality time with their family. (There is enough washbasin, snack bar and space inside the building.) Felnőttként is sokat tanultunk! Nagyon ajánlom mindenkinek, aki minőségi időt szeretne tölteni a családjával. (Van elég mosdó, büfé és tér az épületen belül.)

Came here by accident as we were off to the botanical gardens and which were shut. I love a natural history museum and often make a beeline for it if a city has one. This museum would be ok if it was free. It lacks any real punch and is extremely light in exhibits. It has a lot of pictures and a large children's play area but few actual exhibits. Many of these have been altered to look like jewelry which was weird. £5.50 entry feel but not worth any entry fee to be honest. Avoid at all costs and save your money.

The museum is located near metro station and can be easily reached. The collection of stones is really nice and contains chemistry explanations. The museum itself is not very big and affordable even for small children. Really kids friendly, a lot of interactive games, playground and spaces dedicated to kids. You can touch a lot of things. Really funny

This museum needs a lot of improvements. First of all, it can be good for kids, but not for adults. It is not informative enough. It is more like a theme park with lots of toy-like pieces. It is also small for a natural history museum. It is difficult to find something in English, so not foreign-friendly. The staff cannot speak English as well. Overall, it is worth visiting in certain conditions. Don't expect much!

From a tourist point of view definitely not the best compared to other cities. Kids will definitely like it. Good collection of European animals. Ticket to see the outside dinosaurs and the rest of the museum is different, be aware of that.

An okay museum that doesn’t particularly offer much. The museum could be good for school children, however, I didn’t find that there was actually that much inside this museum. I did like the Noah’s Ark exhibit, as I have never seen this in a museum before, so this was interesting. Apart from this, the place is rather dull, the gift shop is tired and not worth visiting and you cannot purchase any food or drink here. I did like how they offer student discount, making my entry very cheap which I appreciated. But overall, I’m not sure this place is worth visiting over other museums.

Tickets being sold in the gift shop was a bit slow, no online shop. When we first saw that we can't go to floors 2 and 3 on the stairwell we were disappointed only to find that there is another way up as well. Everything is nice and spacious, but I don't feel like I will go there again anytime soon.

Tho maybe a bit cold (but I guess that's exactly the point), the museum offers a wide array of scientific areas to discover and explore. Here are some of my favorite shots from the gallery.

Will be interesting for small kids, up to age 15 tops. For adults it is almost nothing to see, boring. Their air conditioning wasn't working or intentionally switched off. Inside temperature was 27-30 degrees and outside 33! People sweating and stinking! Ticket costed 2600 HUF.

Lots of things to learn and see. Including primitive species, skeleton, fossils ,minerals, stuffed animals and birds .also dinosaur park was there. Geologists, biologist and natural enthusiast must visit this place

  • 5/5 Cosmin V. 2 years ago on Google
It looks very nice and it contains a lot of exhibits and interactive material, which are attractive for children and adults also. My children loved the exposed gems, but you can also find stuffed animals, fossils and even photos of galaxies and planets.

Museum has some interesting pieces but the general feeling is just emptiness. A lot of workshops for kids, but that's all. I think the city is not investing much into this museum. Not recommended right now.

  • 2/5 Laura m. 2 years ago on Google
The collection here wasn't very extensive. Staff at the reception were quite rude. I was looking to get my bag back but they were all too busy looking at something on one of their phones and laughing. A lot of the pieces give information about their patrons instead of more about the items on display. One of the main displays is also of animals going into an arc which seems like odd symbolism for a scientific gallery.

Great place for kids and adults. Lots to see and do. Many interactive kids areas. Small little snack place (donation friendly) of fruits and vegetables. Finally no deep fried frozen food. Healthy options. Didn’t see any other food services available. Be prepared. Friendly staff. Coat check available. Close to public transportation and plenty of parking area. Prices are reasonable for family. Really enjoyable place. Some descriptions are available in English and Hungarian.

Very nice place but I really don't understand why there is no air conditioning. It was very hot inside on a normal sunny day. Interesting for kids 3+ but younger will not enjoy it much. There is only one corner for babies but easy to escape (parents will know what I mean). Overall I would really recommend this place. A lot of exhibitions, garden with dinosaurs, tent with big butterflies, Noah's Ark and minerals room.

Good museum to visit if you enjoy geology and natural history! There's an extensive mineral and gemstone collection which is both informative and beautiful. Some of the fossils are particularly cool to look at, and the models with them do an excellent job of helping visualise just how big some of the prehistoric creatures were! It's a very kid-friendly museum with lots they can touch and play with, but worth a walk around for adults too.

  • 2/5 Ever A. 10 months ago on Google
Let's start that despite my review, it's still worth visiting here especially for children (and it's a shame that blessed ones can't enjoy themselves). The place has a huge potential that is not realized. Excellent location and very spacious. The museum is divided into different themes that do not create a lasting experience since there is no connection between them. The place is not well maintained, many exhibits are missing, movies that don't work, and a lot of plastic (in the water world there is only one small aquarium and everything else is plastic!) I recently visited a similar museum in Vienna and there it was a completely different experience, good, enriching and educational. Too bad!

  • 3/5 Tal C. 1 year ago on Google
This museum is pretty small, it seems like it is built for school trips due to the fact there are more lecture rooms than exhibitions. The exhibitions that do exist are pretty small and boring as well as most of the museum in Hungarian so for tourists it wont fit.

  • 3/5 Tonya 1 year ago on Google
The museum is definitely more suitable for children than adults. It is not big at all and the more interesting exhibitions, such as the dinosaur one, are very small. The bathrooms weren’t kept up well and there was some water damage on the walls. I wouldn’t recommend it for adults unless they are going with small children. Another minus is that it is very far from most of the attractions so it takes quite some time to actually go to the museum and back.

  • 3/5 Anikó G. 1 year ago on Google
Not to compare with the Natural History Museum in Vienna, but worth a visit of your children are into dinosaurs. Many halls and floors are not used/ set- up, there is definitely more potential on the building and in the exhibition... Recommend to go straight up first to the exhibition/ into the garden and on the way out, show the children the indoor playground on the ground floor, which is great. Otherwise you gonna stick there forever.

  • 5/5 Nataša J. 1 year ago on Google
A large number of exhibits and interesting content. The children especially liked the room where they could take the exhibits in their hands and look through the microscope. We spent two hours in the museum.

Great museum with nice exhibition. My 4 year old son is totally into dinos 🦕 and mammuts and therefore this was the perfect place for him to "meet them" and have an idea how they looked like and about their size. There were plenty of other prepared animals as well so it was a great way to explore them from really close. Our other child had great fun in the baby section with some stuffed animals and also in the wood exhibit where there were some playing option for kids. There is a discount for adults if they arrive with minimum to children under 18 years old (this is applicable for max 2 adults). Must see museum for adults and kids!

(Translated by Google) The periodical exhibition about mummies was interesting. I really liked that there were also fish. The puffer fish are very cute! :) However, in several places the exhibition space was not properly lit and there were also inscriptions missing with at least one name on what we were seeing. There would have been a lot of interactivity in the permanent part of the exhibition, which I think the kids can have for an entire day, but unfortunately these can’t be used now during the epidemic. I trust that by the time the epidemic ends, there will still be an opportunity to leave before the museum is permanently moved.

If you would like to familiarize yourself with the flora and fauna of Hungary, this is a good place to see some of the indigenous species displayed in a lifelike state. Exhibits are accompanied by bilingual Hungarian and English descriptions. They put on seasonal/thematic/nature photography exhibitions as well.

An interesting building placed in an universitary campus. The main downside is that this location is quite far away from the city centre, so you have to take the tram or the underground to get there. The museum itself is quite interesting, but it does not stand appart from other of its cathegory. Moreover, there are some interesting exhibitions, but nothing so breathtaking. I would place this museum in top 20 to visit in Budapest, but it is more to be visited only if you have witnessed the other major museums of this magnificent city.

The natural history museum in budapest is worth a visist if you are in budapest. You can reach by M3 metro line. They have great collection of minerals andndossils which my kids enjoyed seeing. They have a dinasour park. Which has wodden statues of exactly 10 dinasours. You need to pay separately for the dinasour park. We did not find rhe dinosaur park to be worth while. The rest of the museum is good and worth a visit.

(Translated by Google) There were instructive things, I liked the minerals the best. It used to be approx. It was better 20 years ago. Larger area and more interactive presentation. The astrophoto exhibition was beautiful, but I was expecting more pictures.

(Translated by Google) When it opened it was an extremely rich exhibition. Now, after several years, I felt a little empty compared to that. Regardless, there were interesting things to make sense of if you could spend time now as well. The mummies of Vác were also very interesting, the nature photos are beautiful. (Original) Amikor megnyitották rendkívül gazdag kiállítás volt. Most több év után ahhoz képest kicsit üresnek éreztem. Attól függetlenül voltak érdekes dolgok értelmesen ellehet tölteni az időt most is. A Váci múmiák is nagyon érdekesek voltak, a természetfotók gyönyörűek.

(Translated by Google) I was disappointed .... conceptless, outdated installations .... but the building of the old covered stables is beautiful. (Original) Nekem csalódás volt.... koncepciótlan, elavult installációk....a régi fedeles lovarda épülete viszont gyönyörű.

It's amazing place definitely worth to attend, one of the most interesting museums we have visited in Budapest. Tickets are quite budget, we went on first Sunday of month so entrance was totally free for people under 26. It's mostly oriented on children but adults will be excited too. There are a lot of different exhibitions from animals and dinosaurs to minerals and households. Especially I loved the room with butterflies, you can even hold them in hands (but be very careful, they are so tender). Here you can find interactive things, mini-games, touch some samples, so for kids it's superb place. I assume that it's not as popular among tourists, that's why there are only Hungarian descriptions mostly and bigger part of stuff doesn't speak English. However that's not a problem. I highly recommend this museum as must visit place during the vacation.

Do not visit this place by far the most depressing and awful museum I have ever been to. All the animals are dusty and honestly creepy looking. Layout is so strange and the whole place is filthy. Incredibly boring unless you are a child under the age of 5. Would not recommend unless you love bad taxidermy jobs!
