👍 Charming, small, stone chapel that rises discretely in the shade of the high branches of the Margaret Island. Walking along its curved paths at some point the horizon opens up and this curious construction materializes in the eyes of the tourist, halfway between abandonment and forgery. Unfortunate... (Translated by Google) Charming, small, stone chapel that rises discretely in the shade of the high branches of the Margaret Island. Walking along its curved paths at some point the horizon opens up and this curious construction materializes in the eyes of the tourist, halfway between abandonment and forgery. Unfortunately the interior is closed but the exterior is enough, with its tall bell tower, to suggest the customer who finds himself in front of it. Absolutely not to be missed! @gargio76

Nice little church, with a long history. Inside you will also find a catacomb. It only works in the morning hours

A roman style church built centuries ago and destroyed throughly during ottoman times, its bell found in 1920 among the roots of a chestnut tree and ıt has been built stone by stone again in 1940. Its bell is now perhaps the oldest in europe. Nice church. Close to it there is a monastery ruin where you can see the tomb of Saint Margaret who died in 1250 and the island is called in the memory of her name.

(Translated by Google) This chapel was built before the Tartar invasion, but its builder was also called the II founder of the land, although its formal builders were former members of the Premontreian monastic order. Margaret Island was also named after St. Margaret's daughter Béla IV. For the departure of the Tartar hordes, their firstborn child was offered to the Lord. But he offered his whole life to Christ and prayed and atoned for his homeland until his death at a young age. His reverence radiates through the centuries. (Original) Ezt a kápolnát még a tatárjárás előtt építették,de építtetőjét is a II.honalapítónak hívták bár formális építői a premontrei szerzetesrend volt tagjai voltak. A Margit szigetet is IV.Béla lányáról Szent Margitról nevezték el.A tatár hordák eltávozásáért felajánlották elsőszülött gyermeküket az Úrnak Ő,volt Margit, akit a Veszprémi zárdából,helyeztek át ide a szigetre.Korábban nyulak szigetének nevezték.Margit édesapját segítette a belső testvérharcokból való békítésében is.De teljes életét krisztusnak ajánlotta és hazájáért imádkozott és vezekelt fiatalon elérkező haláláig.Tisztelete átsugárzik századokon át

(Translated by Google) A 13th-century Premontre church, of which only a single piece of wall and its foundations have survived by the end of the Turkish era. It was built in its present form in 1932 - striving to reconstruct the original forms. Pretty church, surrounded by nature. Neat story/history of its bell being lost for hundreds of years after destruction, then rediscovered after a tree fell. Now the bell is one of the oldest in Hungary.

A unique old chapel on Margit-sziget (Margaret Island) in the heart of Budapest. The island itself is an awesome place where nature and man can meet leaving behind the buzz of the city. A lot of people go there all the year to spend a good time enjoying nature and each other's company.

Lux was seriously, and on several occasions, wrong! Margitsziget is not the Island of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Insula Beate Marie Virginis) it never was! Incredibly, Margaret Island was called Insula Margarete. And since the settlements of Révjenő and Újbécs were not discovered on Margitsziget, it can be stated with complete certainty that the Premontre island presbytery of St. Michael the Archangel did not exist on Margitsziget, but in what is now called Főtér!

(Translated by Google) A beautiful, very old church in the middle of Margaret Island. Unfortunately it is not always open so despite being one of the stages of the Hungarian Way it often remains closed and visiting it is difficult. Anyway it is very beautiful to see also externally. (Translated by Google) Beautiful building! The present edifice was completed in 1932 and consecrated in the same year by Cardinal Justinian Serédi. The chapel was built on the older foundations. It was destroyed by the Turks. Near the chapel you can see the archaeologically protected monumental ruins of the medieval church and convent of the Dominican nuns. (Original) Gyönyörű épület! A mostani építmény 1932-ben fejeződött be és ugyanabban az évben szentelték fel, Serédi Jusztinián bíboros által. A kápolna a régebbi alapokra épült. A törökök elpusztították. A kápolna közelében a domonkos apácák középkori templomának és zárdájának régészetileg védett műemlék-romjai láthatók.
