He found it particularly problematic during the treatment that he had to interrupt his other work to examine it. He did not even accept the obvious facts, which were visible based on the symptoms, and wrote on the issued outpatient card that he had no signs of the disease I indicated. I have a document stating that he was hugely mistaken, because finally there was another doctor who did a biopsy and it turned out that I had exactly the disease that he had absolutely ruled out on paper. His treatment prescription was also inadequate and ridiculous, because he prescribed a drug (a simple pharmacy base cream) that I indicated I had tried before for these symptoms, but it turned out to be ineffective. He wasn't interested in that, nor was the medical history I listed. How can someone become a doctor with such communication and knowledge? In addition, he is a leader in an institution. Yes, he charged HUF 25,000 for the five-minute "treatment". And what was the name of the invoice: "professor's examination". This? If you know, doctor Péter Holló, stay far away!

Big nothing for a lot of money

At the end of October 2021, I had a knee replacement surgery organized by Semmelweis University Kft., at the Orthopedic Clinic. I previously asked for a quote from several private clinics, but only from here did I receive a written, correct, all-encompassing detailed quote, which I accepted. The amount is expensive, but usually all private clinics work at a similar price. Based on TB, I would have had to wait another year for this operation, so I got an appointment in 1 month - it's true that it's paid, but if it's urgent, you think about the options. The focus research before the surgery was also included in the price and was carried out there in the weeks before the surgery. I managed to get all the tests done in a well-organized way, giving appointments and keeping them - there were no interruptions or half-day waiting. Well, the surgery itself took place entirely at the Semmelweis University Orthopedic Clinic - the only plus was that it was a 2-bed room with bathroom, TV and refrigerator. No one should think about any extra services - you only have to pay for the surgery to be performed in 1 month instead of 1 year. The food is completely hospital food - not a lot, but you can eat it, it's actually not that bad. The clinic itself is very clean and tidy, the staff is kind, friendly and helpful. They work a lot, there are a lot of patients, and even then the covid epidemic started to interfere with everyday life. The operation was performed by a professional medical team - doctors and assistants with great knowledge - in perfect harmony and very organized. There was no problem with that. Overall, the surgery went well - and despite the fact that it cost a lot - I am not dissatisfied, I got exactly what was recommended in the price quote.

Despite the fact that I go to private appointments in half of the cases, so I have experience in quality service, I have not yet had very negative experiences in Hungarian healthcare.

I "just" went for a lab test. They were very good about booking an appointment, I got an appointment quickly, they kindly and patiently explained where to go and what to say. The fact is that paid and TB-based patients are not separated (so there may be a short waiting time, for me it was about 15-20 minutes in total), however, when I went there and said that "I am a Kft patient", separately they dealt with me. Since I didn't pay online, there was a bit of a hiatus in that I still had to issue an invoice and go to the secretariat to pay separately before the examination (this is something you should know if someone is in a similar situation), but from then on it went smoothly.
