(Translated by Google) Anonymus statue located in the city park of Budapest and made by the Hungarian artist and sculptor Miklós Ligeti at the beginning of the 20th century inside the complex of Vajdahunyad Castle. It represents the somewhat fictionalized and highly romanticized figure in the anonymous notary of King Bela of Hungary, author of the main documentary source about the conquest of the Hungarians of the Carpathian basin, around 1200. Evocative and mysterious looking, it is absolutely worth a visit! @gargio76

He wrote a description of the resettlement of the Hungarians and their leaders in his work "Acts of the Hungarians." Among students there is a legend that if you rub his pen, then all exams will be passed. The sculpture is located on the territory of the famous Vaidahunyad castle and the territory of the city park. Easily accessible by metro. In the courtyard of Vidhunyad palace, there’s one statue that I recommend to see - that’s of Statue of Anonymous! No one knows who exactly he is (hence Anonymous!) but he was considered as the History Chronicler, only know to have used “Master P” as his identity. The statue seems to have made a great justice to the Anonymous. You can find the mighty figure sitting with a sharp pen in his hand; face covered under a hood! The eyes under that hood do carry an eerie feeling!

(Translated by Google) This mysterious statue is said to be that of Gallus Anonymus, a monk of Frankish origin, scribe at the Court of King Béla III and author of the famous "Gesta Hungarorum". Anonymous for not signing his work, this character is recognized in Hungary as one of the first historians of the Kingdom of Hungary. His chronicle describes very precisely the arrival of the Hungarians in the plain of Pannonia.

(Translated by Google) Since the sculpture is located in the park, access to it is free and round the clock. Anonymous became the first Hungarian to write chronicles in Latin. The work of the chronicler, which was translated from Latin only 600 years after it was written, is now one of the main sources about that period of Hungarian history. As the legends say, he always wore a dark long-length cloak with a hood. And, allegedly, no one has ever seen his face. And they didn't even know his name. That is why they called him Anonymous, which in translation from Latin means “nameless, unknown”. According to another version, the monk was blind. However, some historians believe that he was a Pole and called him Gallus Anonymous.

The statue of Anonymus, the first chronicler of medieval Hungary, is the masterpiece of Miklós Ligeti, erected in 1903, paying tribute to the legendary unnamed narrator of a king of Hungary (King Bela) who was known as 'Anonymus' (sic) in ancient books and medieval sources of the century. His chronicles were signed as 'the notary of the most glorious deeds of King Béla' What makes this work of Ligeti's work so original, is that it manages to depict an important historical figure while hiding his face under a hood. Historians believe that it was he who recorded the first chapters of the history of the Hungarians (Magyars) in his work called the Gesta Hungarorum.

One of the most renowned chroniclers in Hungarian history. Rub his pen and you will be a better writer, people say. His work has the most details about how Hungarians arrive to the Carpathian Basin and mentions by name the 7 chieftains: Árpád, Tas, Előd, Ond, Kond, Huba and Tétény. You can see their statues at the Heroes Square, they are all right in the middle on horses.

The statue of Anonymus was made by Hungarian sculptor Miklos Ligeti (1871-1944) in 1904. Who is that Anonymus? Probably he was "Anonymus Bele regis notarius" or anonymous notary of King Bela or just Master P. He is famous for his work, Gesta Hugarorum (The Deeds of Hungarians), written in Latin around 1200. Otvenhatosok tere or City Park. Pest, Budapest, 🇭🇺 Hungary 🇭🇺. November 7, 2021.

(Translated by Google) The sculpture of Anonymous at the same time combines both mystery and even a certain frightening atmosphere, called "faceless". It is dedicated to an unnamed historian who, in the 12th century, wrote the first history book about the ancient Hungarians, although the stories included in it were based mainly on legends. It is believed that touching his pen brings good luck as well as inspiration for writers.
