This equestrian statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy in Buda Castle, was the major sculptural work of József Róna. The Neo-Baroque statue was made for the town of Zenta but this town could not afford its price. The monument was bought in 1900 by the master-builder of the Royal Castle, Alajos Hauszmann as a temporary solution until the planned equestrian statue of King Franz Joseph would be completed. This never happened so Prince Eugen remained on his plinth.

(Translated by Google) Splendid equestrian statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy, leader, skilled military strategist, diplomatic end whose figure is tied to a double thread with that of the modern history of Hungary. A character loved and hated at the same time, he was responsible for stopping the advance of the Ottoman army and also for the transfer of the state to the Habsburgs with the Peace of Carlowitz in 1699. It is impossible today to think of the Buda Castle without the dynamic profile of this wonderful bronze statue looming ahead. Absolutely not to be missed! @gargio76

To the southeast of the entrance to the Habsburg Square, just in front of the Royal Palace, is a statue of Eugene of Savoy, the prince of the Habsburgs who destroyed the last Turkish army in Hungary at the battle of Zenta in Serbia in 1697. Designed by József Róna 200 years later, it is considered the best equestrian statue in Budapest.

The statue commemorates the man who dealt one of the most crushing defeats to the Ottomans in the Battle of Zenta from 1697, that eventually saw the provinces of Hungary, Croatia and Transylvania go back to the Habsburgs It's a wonderful statue, both in technique and the choice of location overseeing the Parliament building on the other side of the Danube Needless to say there are plenty of photo opportunities

(Translated by Google) Prince Eugen was the military genius of the 18th century. It was the only Austrian to make the Ottomans to lose. Pasarofça is the work of Eugene At the most intense moment of the 1663 Battle of Crete, one of the commanders to accelerate the withdrawal of the Ottoman Empire from Europe was Eugen Savoyen. In 1697 Zenta Bozgunu largely played a role in his genius. He had destroyed the army who wanted to cross the Tisza River and destroyed it. Almost his fellow Sultan II. Mustafa was in charge of the army and was the last Ottoman sultan to take the campaign. Many commanders including Grand Vizier Elmas Mehmet Pasha were martyred in Zenta. Even the seal of the sultan on his neck fell, the enemy fell into his hands. The Sultan once again realized that he could not be trusted with the janissaries who lost their war power and his mother-in-law. It was inevitable that the Karlovac Peace had come. Ottoman lost Hungary. Although the lands given to Venice and Russia were taken back after a while, the German-Austrian annexation did not return. In 1718 Prince Eugen temporarily took Belgrade in a second battle. Pasarofça, a grave peace, is the work of Eugene.

They make you wait +15 min despite many tables being empty to seem exclusive. Our group of 6 was not allowed to sit at the same table because of their very strict floor plan which only allows 4 per table. No tap water. A bottle of standard water costs 10€/3000fr. Ineffective waiters, poor service in general. However the place looks really nice.

Visiting this part of Buda is always a pleasure. The statue itself is a magnificent and remarkable work. There are far too many people here at the end of December for a quality tour, and even now extensive construction and restoration work is taking place here, which restricts access to visitors. In this regard, the visit last May was more pleasant.

(Translated by Google) Opposite the main gate of the Palace overlooking the Danube, is the imposing bronze equestrian statue of Jenő Savoyai opposite the main entrance of the National Gallery. The final, decisive battle for the expulsion of the Turks, the statue of the victorious warlord of the Battle of Senta in 1697, was made by Joseph Róna in 1900 on behalf of the city of Senta. In the meantime, the city went bankrupt and could not pay for it, and Alajos Hauszmann, who was in charge of the large-scale reconstruction at that time, discovered the statue in Róna's studio and, through his intervention, . The pedestal is adorned with scenes of the famous Battle of Senta, and on the patina, oxidized to green, it is worth to observe the beautifully dressed horse, even the bulging vein of the belly was shaped by the sculptor. (Original) A palota Dunára néző főkapuja, a Nemzeti Galéria főbejáratával szemben Savoyai Jenő impozáns bronz lovas szobra áll. A törökök kiűzéséért vívott utolsó, döntő összecsapás, az 1697-es zentai csata győztes hadvezérének szobrát Róna József készítette 1900-ban Zenta városának megbízására. A talapzatot a híres zentai csata jelenetei díszítik, a patinás zöldre oxidálódott szoborcsoporton főleg a szépen kimunkált lovat érdemes megfigyelnünk, még a hasán dudorodó eret is megformázta a szobrász.

Tasteful delicacies, first class service, art, decor, live classical music. Surely an amazing ambiance. Hence, never ending lines, super expensive menu, very very touristic spot. So, if you want to enjoy this place, pick a time that is not super crowded, reserve in advance, and politely ask the waiter what would be recommended at good value. A must in Budapest. Don’t forget to wander to around 😀

Let me tell you the story of this statue which shows one of the greatest generals of his time. Eugène de Savoie was born in Savoie (France) in1663. when he was a teenager he wanted to become a general, but his family wasn't very popular in the court of Versailles, so he was told by the king Louis XIV that he would be a monk. Furious Eugène offered his service to the Austria-Hungarian king, who at this time was struggling fighting against the ottoman empire. The Turkish had already conquested Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, Bosnia, Albania, Macedonia, Greece and Hungary Thanks to his incredible tactical skills, Eugene de Savoie managed to kick out the Turks from this country but also from Serbia and Austria (the siege of Vienna). He literally changed the history of central Europe, that would have been completely different with the ottoman empire. To thank him for his glorious victories the Austria-Hungarian king gave him a lot of money and a land in Vienna, where Eugène built what is known as the Belvedere and is one of the most visited museums in Vienna. Eugène is the pride of my region of Savoie and I'm furious to see that this statue is not well maintained. Austrians, Hungarians and Europe own him a lot.

(Translated by Google) Prince Eugene Sava-Carignano (1663 October 18 - 1736 April 21) is a general imperial army and politician of the Holy Roman Empire and the Grand Duchy of Austria and one of the most modern in European history A successful military commander rose to the highest official residence of the Royal Palace in Vienna. Eugene served three holy Roman emperors: Leopold I, Joseph I and Charles VI. In 1683, he first saw the action of the Ottoman Turks in the siege of Vienna and the subsequent jihad alliance war, and then served in the nine-year war, fighting alongside his cousin Duke Savoy. However, in the Battle of Zenta in 1697, his decisive victory over the Ottoman Empire ensured the prince's reputation and made him a high reputation in Europe. Eugene elevated his position during the Spanish War of Succession, where he and the British inherited the Duke of Marburg in Blenheim (1704), Oudenaard (1708) and Malprat (1709) ) The field has won a victory against the French. As an imperial commander in northern Italy, he achieved further success in the war, especially in the Battle of Turin (1706). In the Austrian-Turkish war, the re-hostile action against the Ottoman Empire consolidated his reputation, won in the battle of Petrovaradin (1716), and made a decisive encounter in Belgrade (1717). Throughout the late 1960s, Eugene's influence and ingenious diplomacy managed to ensure that the emperor gained strong ally in the struggle against the Bourbon dynasty, but in his later years, he was physically and mentally vulnerable, Eugene was in the army commander-in-chief. There was less success during the period. In his last conflict, the Polish throne succeeded in the war. However, in Austria, Eugene's reputation is still unparalleled. Although his personality is different, his great achievements are not controversial: he helped save the Habsburg empire from the French conquest; he broke the Ottomans' westward advancement and liberated Central Europe after a century and a half of Turkish occupation; He is one of the great patrons of the art world and his architectural heritage is still visible in Vienna. In front of this statue is the best view point, overlooking the Empire State Building on the other side, and the Danube.

Dive into history of Austria and Hungary . And touch it, enjoy it, love it, live it. In the footsteps of Sissi. Enter and follow the dreams of yesterday, the grand nation of Hungary. Expensive but very tasty meals. Always full of people. Hotel guests are guaranteed to get a seat and a table. Priority privilege like a royal majesty.

Auf deutsch weiter unten. The Cafe New York in Budapest is located in an extraordinary building. If you are in Budapest you have to go there. It is worth spending almost 10 € for a coffee, with gold dust about 12 €, just to have a look inside the building and to sit there an drink something. We went there for lunch and had something to eat. The prices are of course relatively expensive. Starters from about 10 €, main courses from about 25 €. Unfortunately I have to say that the food was only ok. My roasted duck was a little bit cooled down when it was served and the Wiener Schnitzel was ok. With such prices you can expect more quality. Also the service was only ok. When our drinks were empty I would have expected the service to ask if we would like to drink something more. This is probably because the cafe is more a tourist attraction rather than a restaurant. But I tend to go there for dinner next time to give Cafe New York another chance.

We visited two nights back in April 2019. The atmosphere in here is like the Ritz in London. You can expect the same service too! We went on two separate occasions. Once for lunch. The other for dinner. It’s quite pricey for what you get for instance the breakfast tower below was 19,500 in their 💰 But, if you want to treat yourself to a good meal with music played from the balcony all day, morning and evening then this ones for you. You can go eat and pretend your a king or a queen for a day. It really is beautiful from the decor to the food. I haven’t found anything like it since. And, for a treat (expensive at that) I’d still recommend it at least to try. YOU MUST BOOK.

(Translated by Google) A powerful creation of a relentless, brutal warlord who toppled the Turks in Europe as much as he could. Liberation of Buda (1686) - Reservation of Nándorfehérvár (1688) - Burning of the Battle of Senta (1697) - Burning of Sarajevo (1697) is all related to his name. Many times they were very cruel Attacks, too exaggerated, to remove the Ottomans from the heart of Europe. Horse and rider can be interpreted together, they form a whole. As the horse's legs are stretched backwards, its tail fluttering, all suggesting that the warrior, who is sitting firmly in the broom, holds a tensile force in his hands. This is the only way to start relentlessly toward enemy ramparts, or to stop the onslaught that ends in a decisive victory. You can see from the wand in his right hand: he is in command of his army, he knows what is happening. Below are the humiliated (as I say) Saracens, because the left-hand figure is African, not Turkish. Today it is very far from any humane world, because here is the "woe to the defeated!" its time reigned, but it reflects the spirit of the age somewhere. The sculptor József Róna ordered the prince's statue from the city of Senta, but even though a lottery was advertised, they couldn't pay for it. This is how he ended up in Budapest, which the Duke had to do with. It was first exhibited without a pedestal in front of the Kunsthalle during the spring exhibition in 1899. It was replaced in 1900 in front of the Palace. Damaged in 1944-45, demolished in 1968. It was re-established in 1971 after its restoration. The limestone base is 560 cm, the bronze statue 470 cm, the reliefs are also made of bronze. The two reliefs on the post depict the revenue of the Senta ramparts and the famous horse rush. Above them is a young and an old Turkish prisoner. The minor figures - according to Tibor Vilt the Turkish prisoner - were carved by Ivan Mestrovic. (Original) Nagy erejű alkotás egy kérlelhetetlen, brutális hadvezérről, aki úgy tiporta a törököt Európában, ahogy csak érte. Buda felszabadítása (1686)- Nándorfehérvár (1688) visszafoglalása - a zentai csata (1697) - Szarajevó (1697) felégetése mind-mind a nevéhez fűződik. A jobb kézben tartott pálcából látszik: ő vezényli a seregét, tudja mit történik. A mészkő talpazat 560 cm, a bronzszobor 470 cm, a reliefek szintén bronzból. A posztamensen lévő két dombormű a zentai sáncok bevételét, illetve a híres lovasrohamot ábrázolja.

The architect - Joseph Rona, created this monument by order of the Serbian city of Saint, where the famous Battle of Saint was held, where the Austrian army, commanded by Eugene of Savoy, defeated the Ottoman Empire. But the city was unable to pay the costs of manufacturing and installing the monument, and it was left in Budapest, until the decision of King Franz Joseph. The decision did not happen and the municipality of Budapest bought the monument, and in 1900 it was installed at its present location. Part of the money for the monument gave the city, part of the Emperor Franz Joseph I (Original) New York Café is a must if you are in Budapest. The location itself is amazing, so beautiful (see photos), food is good although nothing special. If you are hotel client you will always have a table reserved, but don't worry about it, the cafe is really big. When I went there was a man playing the piano, and I loved it!! You cannot miss it!!

The most beautiful coffee house in the world! Indeed it lives up to it’s name. We went for coffee and cake and everything was amazing. The cakes are the most superior quality, coffee is very good and the ambiance is decadent. Must try at least once. But be careful, it’s not a cheap place.

Luxury and beautiful atmosphere. I am not usually so much into this kind of place but it is a must see if you are in Budapest. I enjoyed it, food was good, very pricey but good quality. The staff was very professional and nice. And what a pleasure to drink your coffee while admiring such authentic and abundant interior decoration.

Beautiful cafe with 2-3 times higher prices than other locations that offer a comparable food and drinks quality. The coffee was very good and the cheese cake was very juicy and tasty. However, it was served with a decoration made of chocolate and home-made apricot jam. The chocolate was very hard, almost unsweetened, and difficult to eat. If you try to break a piece off with your fork, it will likely jump of your plate. The home-made apricot jam was not good at all. It had a slimy texture and a sour taste with virtually no other aroma. If you just eat the cake and ignore the chocolate and jam, it is fine. But that’s not what I would expect from such a high class cafe.

(Translated by Google) What and who the walls of this magnificent building have not seen: and filming, and famous artists, writers, actors, politicians ... Even Fyodor Chaliapin has been here and left a note in the guest book. The cafe is located in the most majestic and incredibly beautiful New York palota, located on Erzhebet Boulevard. The building was designed by architects Giegl Alajos, Hauszmann Alajos and Korb Flóris for the New York Insurance Company in 1894. It was here that a cafe opened, which made this place famous throughout Europe. According to legend, on this day, journalist Ferenc Molnar threw the keys into the river so that the doors of the cafe were always open to visitors. Indeed, the building, built in the Renaissance style, amazed with its decoration: beautiful panels by Gustav Mannheimer and Ferenc Eisenhatt, a fountain at the entrance, Venetian glass lamps, silk and velvet surrounds visitors, marble and bronze dazzle with their splendor. From the very beginning of the 20th century, life here was in full swing: all outstanding personalities gathered in the cafe, it was possible to find out news from all over the world, because thanks to the owner, those who wished could find more than a hundred newspapers and magazines from around the world. Today, the building houses the Boscolo New York Palace Hotel suite.

Incredible decor! How it has survived over several decades in different guises is testament to the pride of the local people. Jaw-droppingly, spectacular! Prices reflect the cost of upkeep - £18 for 2 Hungarian coffee's (Dec 2019). The coffee was smooth with an edge (the local spirit adding the extra dimension), the decor and ambiance fulfilled the afternoons decadence. If you wish to spoil yourself and your loved one this experience will take some beating. Romantic, opulent, serene. If you're lucky you'll beat the queues; we were seated within a minute of arrival. We were also lucky to experience the live classical music but I believe they're not always in attendance. I can't wait to return.
