Well, what kind of friendly-looking Gandarmen do we have here? The little dick is really a special attraction, he is definitely the most sought-after selfie partner in Budapest. The cozy-looking policeman is the symbol of Zrínyi utca and likes to have his tummy rubbed.

While strolling through Budapest's old town, you suddenly come across a bronze figure of a comfortable-looking policeman with a shiny belly! As you hear it is supposed to bring good luck if you stroke it (as you can see it is used extensively)! We did that too and are still waiting for the result!

Walking down on Vaci street, is a strange statue of fat policeman. Everybody was touching his belly and moustaches, probably it brings good luck?

Nicely crafted statue associated with a myth!! The Fat Policeman, aka Uncle Karl is our dear friend watching tourists and locals walking around the neighbourhood of the St. Stephen’s Basilica. Urban legend is that if you rub his belly you won’t have any weight problem and can try all the delicious Hungarian dishes.

(Translated by Google) The figure of a fat policeman stands against Baselica, St. Istvan, at the intersection of Zrini and October 6th. His place was a bronze statue, Uncle Karchi, - as the locals call him, he took in 2008. This work was done by the famous sculptor Andras Iyes. As the sculptor later said, the prototype of the city figure was his own grandfather, Karoy Fazekas, who once served as a hussar in his youth and flaunted in good shape. Over time, the young hussar, as it should be at that time, acquired a chic mustache and a beer belly, and retained a cheerful and good-natured character with a sly squint. So be in Budapest, be sure to visit Uncle Karchi, and take a photo. Nearby there is also a lot of department where you can sit down to relax and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea with delicious fresh pastries.

An interesting statue of a gendarme, who is in a good mood and mischievously entertains passers-by. People rub his big belly for good luck. Judging by the nose, they don't leave it alone either.

(Translated by Google) One of the many, many bronze works scattered through the streets of downtown Budapest. very beautiful Initiative, historical and fun. Some of these statues have also been linked to the superstitious makeshift but regardless of believing it or not it is always very pleasant to walk the streets looking for a coffee or a place to visit or even just for shopping and see these statues that are almost company to the city itself. Each with its representation as the little prince, the painter or the girl who plays with the dog on the banks of the Danube along the pedestrian promenade, the latter easily accessible on foot, with prams, for the elderly, and if you do not want to do everything walk along the tram n ° 2 which allows you to see all the attractions without getting tired on foot, including the parliament and many others.

The statue was built in 2008. The artwork was inspired by the uniform of the police officers back in 1909-1945. The artist, Illyés András, created it to resemble his own grandfather.

I searched for him for a long time on Google Maps without finding him at least with a title and it was by chance that I just found him when I thought he didn't exist , this little guy I find him very endearing like character, also I find it strange that his belly glows over time. This must come from the fact that everyone has to rub it with their hands does it bring good luck, I don't know maybe someone Another has already given the solution or we are going to give the solution anyway it is very nice to take a photo of it.

Traditionally every person who has his or her photo taken next to the fat policeman statue instinctively touches the shiny belly... myth says if you touch or rub the stomach of the statue you won’t gain any weight and/or have good luch, it’s worth a go :-) The statue is situated near the river on the Pest side. A good photo op.

In general, you stand next to me, and you think that like this “I was white and fluffy, two meters tall, and then something like that - small, short, and only in the mirror you see“ ... well, that’s the same) Nearby cafes, and pretty young ladies, so while not only "in the mirror", then take advantage of the moment) Yes, and in the photo it's not me, but godfather))) (Original) Недалеко от базилики Иштвана, посреди улицы.

(Translated by Google) Our police officer's tummy is bright with so many touches, "hands on". Tourists take pictures of them by placing their hands on the police officer's belly or just touching them as they pass by, pulling their hands over them. Good luck with this move. For the past twelve years since he has been with us, he has grown accustomed to, loved, not seen by a terrifying scab. The effect on the surrounding public security was also measurable. The sculptor András Illyés formed a public policeman between 1909 and 1945, dressed in festive uniform, with a Zrínyi helmet on his head and a sword on his left. His big tummy, smacking mustache has made the police uncle a jovial, lovable figure. It was inaugurated on October 20, 2008. (Original) Rendőrünk pocakja fényes, a sok érintéstől, "kézrátételtől". A környező közbiztonság is mérhetően javult a hatására. Nagy pocakja, mosolyra ingerlő kackiás bajsza joviális, szerethető figurává teszik a rendőrbácsit. 2008.október 20-án avatták.
