Even though this tea house is on a very touristic street, it is still a hidden gem in Budapest. The staff explained everything in detail. We tried dong fang mei ren (oriental beauty) oolong from Taiwan. What makes this tea so special is that local insects (tea jassids) bite the tea leaves during organic farming. It has a bitter taste, according to me. It is served in a special tea pot and with a ceremonial object that is used at the end of drinking. The interior design is very oriental, mostly Chinese and Japanese, and a little bit Middle Eastern, and it also has a cute garden. Plus, they have a small collection of tea books and tea games such as backgammon, go, and Japanese card games. I highly recommend!

I’ve been here a few times and it’s been wonderful every single time! There’s a wide variety of teas but snacks are also available. My favorite tea is definitely the bazaar chai

1000TEA is a unique tea oasis in Budapest. Whether you're a tea novice or an experienced Gong Fu Cha practitioner, there is something here for everyone who loves tea and wants to experience an authentic tea house. Opened in 1996, 1000TEA carries different types of teas from all over the world. You can come in for a tea sitting or pick up some amazing loose leaf tea to take home for your own tea ceremonies. If you're looking for an authentic tea experience in Budapest, 1000TEA is the place to be.

Cozy, quiet place with a huge amount selection of tea. There are tables outside, inside and in the basement as well. There are Go play boards so you and your friends can play in the meantime. The staff is incredibly attentive about their guests, they explain how to get the most out of your tea.

A real hidden jam. 💎 If you are into tea, you should visit this place. A small cute tea house in the city center with a nice calm atmosphere and a diverse menu with tea from all over the world. The staff was nice and inviting but they could have been a bit more attentive.

I was just looking for a quiet place to spend an evening with friends. It was absolutely spot on. Great selection of tea, interesting decor, nice staff and, most of all, a pleasant experience overall. Would recommend to a friend.

Amazing hidden place in the heart of the city. They serve a great selection of tea with knowledge about them. It's a bit hard to find them, but definitely worth a visit.

I had a delightful experience at 1000tea in Budapest. The ambiance was wonderfully cozy, with a calming green decor. Their small outside garden added to the charm. The tea selection was impressive, and I was pleased to find my favorite yerba mate available. The teas tasted great, and the staff provided professional and friendly service. I would gladly give this tea place 5 stars for its overall excellence.

I can't believe there's a specialist teashop like this in Budapest!!! Only genuine love of tea can create the variety and ambience that's seen here. The tea rooms reflect tea culture of the different tea regions. Paradise for tea lovers.

Good tea house in Budapest, Hungary 🇭🇺 The taste of the tea was delightful, I got the yellow tea or yellow tips from the “Huang Ya” region from Sichuan China, it was great and I bought 50 grams from them! I also bought some Japanese tea and Pu’reh teas but I have not tried them yet. The decoration is nice and I liked the place, it was so chill. I recommend going there if you want to relax next to the old town in Budapest.

Simple yet delicious vegan finger foods, super compassionate staff and mind-blowingly beautiful decor? What more could one needing a cool, shaded place ask for on a boiling hot day. I imagine it would be super cozy on freezing winter days as well. A true hidden gem in Budapest

Visiting this tea house was a delightful experience. The Jogi and Lao Shu Pu’er teas had unique and distinct flavors, reminiscent of our past travels. The hostess was exceptionally kind and knowledgeable, guiding us through a personalized selection of teas for home tasting. A true gem in the city center for tea lovers.

Amazing hidden gem in Budapest ! This tea house has such a huge variety of teas and the descriptions on the menu are all so accurate and helpful! Not to mention that the staff was so calm polite and friendly! Cakes were also very tasty and interesting as they have unconventional types like matcha cheesecake :) Prices are also very very very reasonable! Seriously, if you pass by and have 20mins or so, treat yourself to this gem!

Excellent place to have some of the best tea, usually the teaware is not suitable for tea, e.g. Turkish tea cup when you ordered Chinese tea. I recommend you to use the right cups and glasses for each tea.

We weren't sure if we had to sit down or order at the register. The cashier also just didn't communicate anything to us when we got inside. However, the atmosphere was great. There are also so many teas to pick from. My friend drinks 'conventional' teas, so this was not her cup of tea, but if you like to try out different blends, then this is the right place. They also didn't have cakes when we went because they didn't have any clean dishes :(

Very chill relaxing atmosphere and unique experience will be waiting for you. (since it’s hard to find this type of tea house) As a Japanese, I enjoyed a lot! Thank you

A cozy place with a small courtyard. Many different tea sorts to choose from. We had an Argentinian Mate and a cup of rose tea. Both tasted good. My rating of 3 out of 5 stars is due to the staff being quite rude, almost Parisian in his behavior, when asking for advice during our search in the shop for some tea to bring home as a gift. There was no one else, and all we asked for was a bit of help. This place definitely has a lot to offer, and I am certain that the staff knows a lot about tea. Now they just have to remember to treat their customers the way they themselves want to be treated. Best wishes, your place has a lot of potential

I can only recommend this lovely place. The employees are cheerful and kind, and they gave me a great tea recommendation. Which was especially helpful given the almost overwhelming variety in tea choices. Great for anyone looking for special teas. And their food offerings include a few vegan options, which I was pleasantly surprised by!

Very nice and relaxing place! Love the idea that you can go downstairs, and enjoy your time there. Various teas you can try, all from different countries, cultures.

The people working here are nice, genuine, and helpful. The tea selection is great, with so many varieties to choose from! They have board games and such in the basement too. Very fun place! If you like tea, I can’t recommend a better place.

Extremely lovely tea house with a nice and quiet atmosphere were you could spend hours and enjoy your tea. The staff was very friendly and even helped us to pick our tea. Even though it is situated in a crowded street a few minutes from the market hall inside it is very calm and relaxing. The place looks traditional and there is a huge variety of tees to choose from. The price for a tea pot is around 1000 Fr and per person it cost just additional 500.
