Citadel Lookout

Scenic spot Observation deck

😠 An absolute joke - citadel is being restored. There are no signs of that before reaching the top. The views are unmatched but it was an absolute disaster to find out that the hike was almost for nothing. People often mention view, city, Budapest, walk, worth, views, enjoy, beautiful, nice, visit,

What you do in every city on/with a river: climb a mountain and enjoy the panorama. The view of Budapest is astonishingly beautiful during the day and at night and is definitely a must when visiting. Easily accessible by car, but definitely an experience on foot too.

The citadel itself is closed at the moment, but a hike up the mountain is still worth it. It doesn't take that long and the view is worth the effort.

Beautiful and great view of the city! I took a bus up here so it was great to get a good view without having to hike up there myself. there was also a cart selling ice cream and drinks which is unusual but pleasantly surprising. It was a good time

Unfortunately, the Citatella itself cannot be visited at the moment, only its surroundings due to renovations! However, I also recommend it to those who want to enjoy a magnificent view in the direction of Budapest <Chain Bridge-Parliament>....

A great place where you really have a beautiful view over Budapest. You can see the Danube and the beautifully lit buildings to the right and left of it

This is where we did our “first sighting” of the mighty Danube river. Of course we did see the river prior to hiking up here when we crossed Elizabeth Bridge, but once we were up, that was the first time we saw Danube through the horizon. Quite fascinating.

I think this place offers the best panoramic view of city although you can only see one side of Parliament building. Still it's great to sit and watch sunset here

Best views in Budapest. Anytime of day you get stunning panoramic views of Pest whilst standing in the more hilly Buda side. An easy walk up to the top along a steady incline path. A nice little casual bar at the top to enjoy a drink as the sun sets over the city. The place holds a special place in my heart as my fiancée proposed halfway up as the sun was setting over the city.

It's close! The highest point of the city center of Budapest, with the altitude of about 235 meters, it has one of the nicest views as well. On the top you can find the Liberty statue and the Citadel, a Fortress built in the 1800’s. The renovation works will last supposedly until the end of 2023.

I could not visit the Citadella status due to renovation, but covered the places near to it. Such a scenic spot with lush greenery. Would love to visit it sometime at night.

Amazing view of the city and Danube. It takes some effort to go up as the hill is quite steep some times, so spare around 2 hours to visit. There's a nice platform with benches to relax and excellent view of the Fisherman's Bastion and the Parliament. The platform was quite crowded when I visited (Monday afternoon).

The main view point with the stature is closed and that general area is under a lot of contributing. There are no signs telling you that. Very disappointing especially having taken a taxi all the way up there.

Possibly the best views in all of Budapest. This is the place to come for sunset where the sky reflects in the Danube. You can see the whole city and point out all the landmarks. It wasn't very crowded here either which was nice compared to the rest of the city. It's a trek up the hill if you come from the river or you can go round back up the roads. Either way it's worth it

A long walk through gellert Hill but in my opinion worth a shot! Prepare yourself and take a bottle of Water. You Also have Access by car. The view is amazing. Throughout the Park you can find a Park for children and a lot of green areas to enjoy the sun. The fortress is under renovation so you cant visit it or reach the statue.

It will take some time to climb this mountain, but it is worth it. A beautiful view of the whole city, especially the riverbed, as well as the castle side and Pest. A good place for a walk in reverie.

Great view to all the city, easy access to the top, enjoy the walk, you can expend hours there, take your time and enjoy.

You come here for the view, and you get the view. There is not much parking or walking possibilities in 2022, as the renovation works are ongoing, but you can still walk the left and right side around to take nice panoramic photos of Budapest.

Beautiful spot for photography of city view; preparing for a little walk. However the rubbish bin of lookout really needs to tidy up…

A very beautiful place to visit, especially during the sunset, as you get to see all of Pest lit up in Orange. I recommend taking the small hike up to it, although there's also a bus. There's food, beers and other nice stuff to purchase, but the fact that you have to pay 4.5€ to enter the toilet made me take one star off. Have fun!

This is the top of the Budapest. The view point is on the Gellert hill. The Hungarians call it mountain but it is only 221 metres above the sea level. The area is protected by the World Heritage Site. This was built as a fort in the middle of the XIX. century. Luckily is a turistical attraction. The best thing is the view from here. You can see the whole Budapest. Mostly the Pest side. Must see!

The perfect place for a wonderful overview of the whole city. You can reach the top by bus or walking, there's also a place where you can eat or drink something.

We went here during a TukTuk tour. Very nice way to see the city from above.

Good for a relaxing walk. Great view of Buda and Pest. Will have to walk up to a small hill for around 10-15 mins. There is a playground for kids in the middle so it’s a bit crowded on weekends with children.

Closed at present time. Still worth a walk up the hill or catch a 27 bus for a reasonable view of Budapest from the area around the Citadel.

Nice view over the city from the victory monument. Unfortunately it's closed for renovation until 2023.
