These Budapest caves are a bit expensive for me but they are definitely worth a visit. Too many families with little kids come here, so if you're not a fan of loud children and their parents sometimes giving zero F, think twice before coming. Otherwise, great tour with interesting guidence. I'd recommend it.

If you are traveling in summer and you need a good AC, visiting the cave is a great option, i recommend you to choose the hottest day to spend inside so you don't have to suffer outside in the city. You don't need previous reservation, the combinated ticket for 2 caves was around 3600 huf, both caves are suitable for any age and easy to follow, there is not much tourist so you can have there a local experience, they have a souvenir shop with really good prices and at the same time buying there you will support the conservation of this nature reserve. The guide will talk in Hungarian because usually the group is mainly Hungarian and 4 or 5 tourist, the tourist will have an audio guide be careful with the bell which make sound every time the voice finish to explain because is really loud, if you have a sensitive ears like me, be careful.

There are almost 200 caves under Buda hill. Out of which these two: Szemlő Mountain Cave and Palvolgyi Cave can be visited under the same ticket. Both the caves can only be visited with tour and guide. The cave gets very cold inside like about 10deg C. And the tour is about 45minute to an hour. There is a portion of the tour where you have to getup a tight ladder that was fun.

Breath taking and beautiful! Was not planning to follow the tour guide but they shared such interesting fun facts , vikkie made my experience better. I was amazed how deep the cave runs and how clean the air was. It’s is cold all year round, bring a coat you aren’t worried about getting a little moist. This is recommended for those who have interests in caves or have never been before.

The cave walking tour was probably my favorite activity while in Budapest! I’m not sure why it wasn’t more popular considering it is only at 15 cab ride from the city. It was super well laid out and with a great guide. The caves were amazing and well lit so you can take great pictures. We even saw a few bats sleeping. Cost was 7000 Ft per person for 3 hours of tour of two caves. It was well worth it. My 71 year old mom loved it and she is usually not impressed with anything. Be aware that the walking tour still does involve climbs of around 200 steps and a few very steep ladders. Some at even slippery conditions. To book we went to caving.hu and emailed them for the English tour. I had to pay through PayPal.

We booked an English speaking version through Airbnb called "Walk Beneath the City: Easy Cave Tour" and had a great time. Normal groups booked through the normal website average around 60 people. This English speaking group was around 15. The tour lasts 2.5 to 3 hours and was a perfect way to beat the heat on a hot summer day. Super friendly and knowledgeable tour guides who were able to point out unique features and share stories about the caves' history. Would definitely recommend.

(Translated by Google) Super recreation with kids almost 2 and almost 3 years old. Uncle Laci is the guide to provide exciting guided tours not only for adults but also for children. The whole family was maximally satisfied with everything. (Original) Majdnem 2 és majdnem 3 éves gyerekekkel szuper kikapcsolódás. Beautiful cave with interesting geological history. Their uniquely helpful staff, including the friendly cashier and the enthusiastic, knowledgable and professional tour guide created a wonderful atmosphere for visitors. Our family, including kids and adults all enjoyed our visit very much!

Nice place for family travel. The travel must under the guide of visiting group. The temperature in the cave is 12, so a coat will be necessary. We forgot about it, and customer service lends us some blankets.

Wonderful experience for taking a tour of one of the caves in Budapest. The guide only speaks in Hungarian language so The audio guide is required for English and other languages. The tour begins every hour from 10 AM to 4 PM and the price is approximately 7.5 € per person. It would be interesting if the tour was expanded further as the caves have a lot of potential.

I had a combi-ticket for this cave and the Pál-völgyi Cave. I first saw the other cave, where I also left a review. The guide there told us at which number we were. We had a much bigger group of people in the other cave. Here we had a small group, which was not in our benefit. The woman who guided the tour talked fast and did not tell us at which number we were. Actually, she did not say a word to us. So, when we entered the cave and she started talking, we were already at number 2... The tour therefore was not the best and very fast. We needed to skip some numbers, and by the time we finished our fourth number, the group was out of sight. Exactly at that point where there was a split. The duration for us in the cave was only 25 minutes. I would have liked it better if we could have finished all the audio guidances. Then we could also have enjoyed the sight of the cave more (and then the duration in the cave would also be longer).

The guy who was selling the tickets was so nice. It was my first stop in my trip to Hungary and I can say this left me the best first impression. The caves are also very nice. Very beautiful. The guide only talked in Hungarian, but she was also nice. If you don't speak Hungarian, they will offer you an very informative audio guide.

(Translated by Google) Very pleasant Saturday program. Group tours start every hour and last 40 minutes. The leader compares the leadership and presentation to the child / adult ratio. In addition to the cave, above it there is a smaller playground, a "Stone Park" showing the rocks of the country, a lookout point and a study trail. On-site therapeutic treatment is supported by TB. (Original) Nagyon kellemes szombati program. Óránként indulnak a csoportos túrák,amik 40 percesek. A vezető a gyerek/felnőtt arányhoz viszonyítja a vezetést,bemutatást.

Amazing sights and really interesting geologically. The tour guides are super friendly, and if they know you are international, they will try to explain everything in English as well, although they also have audio-guides. The tour takes about 40 minutes and the cave is quite unique. As a local, I definitely recommend.

(Translated by Google) The caves are my childhood loves, so I’m biased too. It’s always a great experience for me, if only as a street-dressed visitor, but I can go to a cave. The cave is dripping wet and there are 10-12 degrees inside, expect everyone who goes in. And of course it is exciting, easy to walk on and beautiful. (Original) A barlangok nálam gyerekkori szerelmek, ezért elfogult is vagyok.

This is the blooming underground stone garden of Budapest. Punctually at every clockturn guided tours are leading into the cave along the paved path. The round trip takes approximately 40 minutes and 500 meters in length, while you can learn about Budapest the capital of caves and admire the rock formations included in Budapest's main sights!

Absolutely great, the cave needs better PR, the official site does not give it enough justice, it is really unique. Parking is free and the ticket includes a guided tour, and also an exhibition.

Brilliant cave of vast geological importance. Vastly different to your usual cave with stalactites and stalagmites, this cave features popcorn formations created by thermal water bubbling up from below rather than meltwater dripping down into the rock. Well worth taking the guided tour in English rather than using the audio guide as the gentleman is exceptionally engaging and you can go into some areas otherwise closed to the public.

Good luck if you have school kids in front of you. Often you'll be standing in the same spot for 10+ minutes waiting for the tour guide to finish speaking in Hungarian despite your own playback device finishing the tour segment in English in less than half the time. It's painful to do this tour for tourists. For locals, it's probably worth visiting. For anyone else interested, put this on the last of your list of places to visit, that's if you think you'll have the patience to endure the tour.

Really cool and educative experience. The caves are safe, however claustrophobic people should be aware that the spaces are tight at some points. They have a guide who showed us around and told us all the important stuff about the cave system. Visitors can enter in groups at specified times, so in case you arrive early you will have to wait for the previous group to exit. They have a waiting area and also a museum, so you can pass time there. Don't forget to bring a jacket. All in all really cool experience, a biy far from the touristy central area, but worth it.

We did both Palvolgyi and Szemlö caves with their combo ticket. Both definitely worthwhile though we throughly enjoyed Szemlö more. We were extremely lucky to have no one else on our tour and had a one-on-one with tour guide who had an answer to every question we threw at him. Also, remarkable to be able to offer such great detail in a second language. Loved the tour - thanks very much.

I have expected more from the caves, for the tour to be longer, but nevertheless it was pleasant 1h long. You get 20% off with the budafest card. Entry fee was slightly below 2000 HUF at the time. The tour itself was very nice, but not challenging. Cave was enlarged to for tourists convince, even a tall person can without a problem walk through the tunnels straight. Children, even small ones shouldn't have a problem. I highly recommend it.
