This was an amazing experience! Not only is it a third of the price of the similar tower in Florence (a fifth if you're a student/kid/elderly), but you can more or less also save the trip to Pisa as you've got a cool leaning tower to see from both ground and top level! The inside is quite extraordinary as well, with old wooden, squeaky steps, that goes on forever and ever. You constantly think if the tower is starting to lean more while you climb, and wonder if it may actually crash while you're up there - priceless. Or else you're mind is filled with struggling to catch your breath through the facemask 😁 I climb many stairs on a daily basis, but this was still tough, nonetheless still totally worth it

Interesting tower. The ascent is a bit difficult as the stairs are narrow and steep. It is very difficult to find the spot to put your feet. Also there are some intermediate floors to wait for people descending etc. You need to be in good shape to visit the tower. The views on the roof are perfect. You can see all parts of the old city and even more.

Really enjoyed this. For €5 you can’t beat it. I did the 10am (first) entry. Was super quick. In and out in 20 minutes. Definitely not accessible. I think the first tour is the best because the stairs are narrow and you have people traversing both ways. Whereas the first tour you go up and no one is attempting to come down. Look through the holes in the stone - they are great view points from the stairs. Buy tickets online in advance - they limit the amount of people every 15 minutes.

Pretty affordable experience in Bologna with good views of the city. I definitely like their reservation system. Didn't feel crowded and didn't have to wait but you do need to book in advance (we were able to book the day of a few hours before). Some of the stairs didn't feel like they were a perfect 90 degrees and some were differently spaced than others, so do use caution. The walk up also seemed much quicker than we thought it would be.

Of all the towers I climbed… this was my favourite! The €5 entrance fee is a bargain. They have a ticket office at the bottom. It’s really cool the way everything is creaking and medieval.. I’m pretty sure the tower leans in one direction. It’s kinda scary when you look down from the top. Totally totally worth €5 and the effort to climb it. Don’t miss this!

The best views of bologna hands down! It was a trip climbing the medieval wooden stairs. Do they seem like they could crumble on your next step? Maybe. But, 22,000+ reviewers have survived the ascent and you can too! To buy your ticket just scan the QR code outside. Entrance is 5 euros and it is well worth it. I went on a hot day in July and was expecting to melt, but it was surprisingly cool inside so don’t let the outside heat deter you! (Like it did for my wife, who was happy to wait downstairs drinking Prosecco 💃🏼🥂)

This was a great experience and one I can say I’ve done. If you do have any health/breathing issues then I’d be careful, there is nearly 500 stairs , all of which are different and extremely steep/awkward. Take your time and stop at the various points along the way ! Great view if the weather is clear I can imagine , a must do if you’re visiting to say you’ve done it.

Better than Pisa, in my opinion! Less crowds, better story, feels more real. These towers let you really get hands -on and get some fantastic panoramic photos. Arrive at opening for easier access and less crowds. We had a very minimal wait in late November with the tickets we bought on mobile on site, about 20 minutes or so. Cost was very reasonable. This is a pretty intense climb of 500+ stairs. There are platforms where you can rest at intervals. It's roomy as European stair climbs go, though, so less of an issue for anyone with phobias, perhaps. There's a neat little art shop attached, just around the corner, too. It's a great stop after all those stairs!

Full price for the ticket is 5€, student ticket 3€. The stairs are challenge for most of the people. But the reward on the top is priceless. Definitely recommend to visit once but only once. Mandatory to have the tickets prior. VERY IMPORTANT TIP: tickets can sold out so check beforehand for sure! You should arrive 5 minutes before your reservation

Super cool spot and really inexpensive for INCREDIBLE views of beautiful Bologna!! Highly recommend! It is 498 stairs and some are pretty steep! Wear good shoes and prepare to be winded. There are several platforms you can stop to rest at but once you get to the top there is a lot of room and incredible views (great photo ops)!!! There are some “holes” in the wall on your way up to see some sneak peeks! Highly recommend. Only 5euro. Buy tickets before!!

Student ticket costs 3€ which is fair price. View is obviously great. Wear comfortable shoes, stairs are often narrow and slippery. The only thing I missed there is some historical information about this tower.

A breath taking panoramic overlook on old bologna city from the top of the towers with a 360 degree view. It is worth climbing 598 steps up the tower. Just be careful while coming down because the old wooden steps are kind of slippery and too narrow. Enjoy!

Incredible 360 views over Bologna. Worth climbing the circa 500 steps, which is not a big deal if you have an average physical condition. We bought the last 11am tickets the night before. Booking in advance heavily recommended.

You should absolutely visit if you're in Bologna! Tickets must be purchased online, in advance, and you need to show up at least five minutes prior to your time slot so you can line up with your group. The last groups go up around 6pm on weekdays, 8pm on weekends. It's a long climb - almost 500 steps, most of them narrow wooden steps that are slightly uneven. There are platforms to stop and rest on though, and you aren't rushed! The views are INCREDIBLE. Well worth the steep climb up. Bologna is a beautiful city both on street level and from a bird's eye view.

It was the highlight of my trip to Bologna! The view is truly breathtaking from the top, so climbing all those stars (almos 500) is definitely worth it. The history of the place is also fascinating. As someone who is afraid of heights, I thought it would be a really scary experience, but it was truly enjoyable instead, so that was a nice surprise. You should buy the tickets in advance as it is almost always sold out before each group enters the tower.

Bologna is a beautiful and calm city in Italy. It is more than just the two towers. There are so many beautiful structures and yet not as crowded as many other tourist destinations in Italy. It was worth of trip

The one tower is not straight just like the Pisa Tower. I think some people find it special but for me it just a Normal tower in my own opinion.Everybody have different way of describing the place. I took the photo in a different angle to make it attractive in the photo.

Unfortunately the towers have recently been closed due to safety reasons. So now you can only admire from the street. They are beautiful though and hopefully they can be restored so people can walk up them again. They are fun though and are slightly leaning. Great view from the street.

Best place in Bologna to have a good view of the city. There is no elevator here. You must walk up almost 500 steps. There are multiple places to stop and take a break. We do recommend getting tickets in advance, especially during the summer season, and if you want to go at a particular time, such as sunset, which is very popular.

Wonderful experience overall. Check-in was quick. You should book & pay online in advance so when you get there its just confirming your appointed time and getting right to it. There are friendly staff on every level coordinating visitors and ensuring safety when going up or coming down. Very beautiful city views from the top. However, if you are traveling with a baby, leave your stroller in the car or at home and strap baby on yourself since there is no designated storage room/space for strollers or bags. We left our stroller outside the tower entry and the security guards were nice enough to watch it until we returned😊.

(!)Buy ticket&book time online. The online service failed the two first tries during checkout. Money was luckly refunded automaticly within a few hours, with no action done on my end. It's a great view, and we've not found a view like this, in other places of the time. With that said, it's a high tower, and that's basicly it. I found it a bit odd to ask for 5EUR/person. But it must be due to the required staffing, which needs to control the direction both up and down. I guess half of that could be solved with a few guidance arrow light and a few countdowns 😜😁. If you enjoy seeing things from the top, go! Else, consider to skip it's. Its just a high tower with old stairs, and bleeding hot, if you visit it during the summertime.

Breathtaking view on the center of the Bolognia. On the top you can easily say it's a "red" city. It should be your major point of sightseeing. If you are a healthy person I strongly recommend, but if you are not, you should consider that is it a good idea.

  • 4/5 Sam 5 months ago on Google
We went to this landmark earlier in the year and the view at the top was amazing. It is the highest point you can get to in the city; you can see around for miles. However it does take a while to go up the many, many stairs - as there is only one staircase to go up and down. I would recommend this if you have lots of time in Bologna and are not afraid of heights!

  • 5/5 FOTIOS F. 8 months ago on Google
As for walking upstairs the towers, I strongly recommend good sport ĺshoes, be patient because it is tiring going upstairs and definitely book tickets in advance because people enter in groups, so you should choose the time of your visit in advance. Someone should definitely go upstairs because the view is fantastic as well as the inside of the tower.

Important tips - be prepared to walk, wear walking shoes - if you intend to climb the tower , wear suitable shoes (non-slip types), shirts and maybe some wipes cause you will be sweating - try to visit in Sundays when they close the area off to cars and bikes, so you can walk on the main streets - if you visit during weekdays , careful of cars and bikes Good: - really beautiful - do visit on Sunday , as they close the roads to cars . So you can walk on the road without worrying about cars or bikes Bad: - try to visit during off peak, as there could be too many tourist during peak seasons

Tickets were 5€ per person. Make sure to buy tickets in advance through their website. There's no lift, so be prepared for a lot of stairs (about 500 of them). There are breaks in between and places to stand and rest. The view from the top is incredible! I have a fear of heights but still had so much fun :) Walking up and down the stairs was a bit scary to me, although the place seems really safe. (Stairs aren't steep, there's just many of them) Be prepared to sweat a bit and bring water with you (and someone who will take pictures of the view for you. I personally couldn't make myself reach out and take any pictures. 😁) Recommended!

24 of the towers, which were among the important structures of medieval Italy, remained intact in Bologna. Of these, Torre degli Asinelli and Torre della Garisenda, located in the center of the city, are considered the symbols of the city today. It is possible to climb the higher of these two towers, which are the symbol of the city of Bologna, and watch the view of the city. Although climbing is a bit tiring, the view you see when you reach the top takes away all your tiredness. You will find the unique view of the city under your feet in every direction. You need to choose a time when purchasing your ticket. That's why I recommend you buy your tickets early and choose to climb the towers at sunset for the best view.

A unique, must-try experience. Admittedly it’s quite a climb to the top but the views are stunning and you can grab a drink or gelato afterwards from the numerous stores nearby. Just make sure you book online in advance and bring a bottle of water.

  • 5/5 Mihai B. 9 months ago on Google
One of the cool attractions in Bologna is the two towers. Climbing the ~500 steps is no easy task, but the effort is really worth it. From the top of the Asinelli tower you can admire the city in all its glory. The other tower, Garisenda, is closed due to restoration work. Keep in mind that you'll have to book in advance for your ticket, as the towers don't have a front desk. You may be able to buy the tickets from a shop in the city center from what I've heard, but buying online was quicker and simpler in my case. On a side note, going up with a larger backpack is allowed, but not recommended, because one may get tired. We've heard that this is the tallest medieval tower in all of Europe. All in all, if you're in Bologna even for a day, you shouldn't miss this one :).

From the top of the tower there is a nice panoramic view. With a quick climb, the experience takes less than 10 minutes one way. In the tower, many stairs are really old and everyone should be careful, especially when going down.

The tourist and hot spot of Bologna which is just a walking distance from the city center .. it is nice if you walk around and have a pictures of the historical towers of Bologna and if you got the chance to claim them you should do .. the best time to visit this place either early morning or at sunset it will give you the chance to have a nice photo shooting .. it is a must see place of Bologna once you visited

  • 5/5 szerg08 10 months ago on Google
5 stars for the view from the top, also the online ticketing service comes in handy since you don’t have to wait in line. The support beams for the stairs inside don’t look very..supportive though especially when there are dozens of people on them on the same time. Visits are every 15m and groups need to wait each other to pass between floors.

  • 4/5 Kenneth A. 10 months ago on Google
In the centre of the old Bologna, the two towers reach high into the sky. One is leaning more than the Pisa tower. Go early if you wish to climb to the top. Otherwise enjoy the masterpiece from ground level and admire how it was constructed.

  • 5/5 Mark S. 1 year ago on Google
This is an experience not to be missed. At only €5 entry, it's a bargain. Allow 45 mins to get up, down ad view. Slots are every 15 minutes and worth booking in advance. Numbers are limited per slot. There are 498 steps to climb, some very steep. However, there are some landings to rest. You won't do it all in one go as those going up and down have to cross. Views are spectacular.

  • 5/5 David S. 1 year ago on Google
If you are in a good health condition and not afraid of heights, this is a must have experience. You need to book tickets preferably online at least a day earlier during peek times. The view from above is spectacular. Plus the experience of climbing one of the monuments that represents the rich of Bologna from the Middle Ages.

This is my favourite sight in Bologna! Buy tickets on advance on specific time, they might sell out. FULL PRICE 5€, STUDENTS 3€. It’s quite a long way up on wooden stars but every few meters you can rest on a platform. View from the top is breathtaking and it’s definitely worth it.

  • 5/5 Lynne L. 1 year ago on Google
The two Towers stand tall at a major intersection of town Center. the lower one, is leaning and under restoration at the moment. The taller one, you can pay 5€ admission to go up to the tower and have a view from high up. However do note that there is no elevator therefore you need to climb all stairs.

  • 5/5 Favolle 1 year ago on Google
€5 to climb 498 steps. I didn't find it difficult, just the day was too hot but there are platforms where you can rest for a while. The staff is friendly and the view is wonderful. There is plenty of time to enjoy Asinelli Tower.

Absolutly must watch this. Lots of steps to going up and... The viev from the top is amazing!

  • 5/5 Filip . 2 years ago on Google
Spectacular views over the city of Bologna. The best ones you can get. However, be prepared to climb nearly 500 steps to the top with a few platforms where you can catch a breath.

  • 5/5 Stevie P. 2 years ago on Google
Iconic symbol of Bologna. Highly recommend for when you visit. It’s a bit tiring, given the 500 step climb, but it’s worth it for the amazing views of Bologna and the surrounding area. Dates back to the 1100s.

Beautiful city, a great surprise! Has Ducati factory, museum and store nearby at Borgopanigale!

  • 4/5 Sarah C. 2 years ago on Google
You have to buy tickets in advance - book them online, it's very easy! Bit of a trek up to the top but there are spaces to rest if you need it. Views are lovely once you get up there.

Bologna is a beautiful city worth visiting. There is a large market for new clothes at a very low price. Grade 10 Chinese food near the train station. Very tasty ice cream. Many places to visit.
