Food was delicious and spicy but in a good way. Service was also very friendly!

At first I thought this place seemed expensive but, after we received our food, the portion size and quality made the price seem fair. We bought three meals and an appetizer($75 after tip) for a family of four and still were not able to finish the food. Two improvements I would recommend would be to have a child friendly options/child's menu and to declutter the washroom. There was a hand dryer, commercial paper towels, and home style paper towels to choose from as well as two soap dispensers, one of which was empty. Otherwise a great place; friendly service, great food served in a decent time, and a pleasant atmosphere.

Food was really good, but pricey! The curries we ordered came with a small portion of rice, and extra rice was $5. They also added a 18% service charge because we were a party of 5. Way more expensive than expected.

Great Thai food in HUGE portions! It's not in the campus area, but it's right off the highway and a perfect place to eat after a long drive. We got 2 noodle dishes and they were both good. If you ask for added heat, beware: they will REALLY spice up the dish. It's cooked exactly as you order. The service was wonderful. We stopped near closing, but the host was very patient taking our order and serving. My only complaint is the prices. They are very very expensive. Much more expensive than most Asian places around campus. Even though we ordered basic noodle dishes, each dish was over $20 after tax. It's a good place for Thai food, but with those prices, I'm not sure if I'll be back. No regrets though; it was worth trying!

Initial thoughts: White people should not be able to rate ethnic cuisines. The high rating does not align with expected high quality Thai cuisine. First thoughts Gai Pad Krapow (ground basil chicken) is not even ground chicken instead finely chopped up chicken. Huge impact in flavor. Drunken noodles are not wide rice noodles instead cheap egg noodles similar to Chinese Lo mein. Overall very disappointing experience (not authentic Thai food) in summary.

Great Thai food as usual. I wish they could open regularly and make dine in always available for us. I feel like the price also goes up quite a bit.

The shrimp pad thai was bomb! Succulent fresh shrimp cooked to perfection and rice noodles cooked in a delicious sweet sour spicey sauce. You get what you pay for and in my opinion I like good food.

This is definitely my favorite place in C-U to get Thai food. Every staff member I’ve ever interacted with is incredibly nice and helpful and the tofu pad Thai is always so delicious!

The food taste good, but it’s a little bit pricy. There’s only one waitress.

Out of all the restaurants I have been on Urbana Champaign Savoy area, this is my best. Great food! We tried Crab Rangoon, Papaya Salad, Duck, and other food. All of those were really great!

I’ve been coming here for years. Their food is flavorful. I Love the green curry. I normally ask for no spice as they make it pre spiced. Their pad Thai chicken is another one my favorites! I always get mild spice, if you get medium or hot it will equate to the level of hotter sauces at Buffalo Wild Wings to best describe the level of heat. You can always ask for no spice in your pad Thai! I also am in love with their PHO! :)

This place is the best Thai in town by miles. Their atmosphere is gorgeous and their staff are great, but most of all they make every dish with real care, and that is evident in the wonderful taste. My wife and I went here all the time when we were dating, married, and now with our kids, and we always enjoy going back, because unlike most places, their quality has only improved over time.

Stopped here for a meal on our way to Ohio. Chicken Pad Thai medium heat was excellent. We will try to stop on our way back through town.

This is a very busy restaurant and I can see why I - the food is a good and reasonably priced. It was quite busy. We waited 15 to 20 minutes on a Saturday evening, so peak dining times. Understaffed. It was not clear with the protocol was. We were waiting to be seated along with people waiting for their to-go orders in a small space. Restaurant staff did not ask if we were there to be seated or to pick up an order. We just waited, and eventually, when they were able to tend to us, they asked our intentions and then gave us a seat. The place was recently queen. Bathrooms are clean and secure. I don't remember the name of my dish. It was a noodle dish and a little hotter than I had requested as I had requested mild. Yellow curry and tom yum soup were delicious. It was quite congested. Once we were able to be seated, they quickly took our orders and brought out the food.

Very lucky find on our way home to Virginia. Have enjoyed Thai food for years with wonderful relationships with family owners. Thara provided the finest Thai experience at a most reasonable price. The takeout business we observed while dining there is a testament to it's community support. Portions excellent, seasoning sensational and staff service and preparation an absolute FIND. Thank you Thara Thai!

Popped over for some pad woon sen. Nothing special. Food was all a little overcooked. That really hurts a noodle dish with noodles as delicate as pad woon sen. Portions were fine, menu was broad. They have lunch specials but pad woon sen wasn't on it. Interior was fun. Service was fine. Other customers seemed to be enjoying their meals. Wonder if lunchtime on Tuesday just isn't the best time to stop by.

A nice Asian restaurant with a wide variety of food types. I was in the mood for Thai food so I had the yellow curry and Tom kha kai soup. I enjoyed it. The waiter was very attentive in keeping my water full. I enjoyed my visit and will repeat.

Most of the ingredients were uncooked !!! Look at the color of the salmon. The mushrooms and all other vegetables uncooked! It came fast but needs to be cooked!

Will add photos when I go back, cuz trust...this will be a weekly spot for me from now on! The portions are absolutely MASSIVE, everything is FRESH, and the prices are ABSOLUTELY spot on for the two reasons listed prior in this sentence. Best Chicken Pad Thai of my life (#58), best Thai tea of my life, and warm welcoming environment with exceptionally friendly/down to earth staff.

The restaurant is so cozy and comfortable. The service is excellent, and everyone is so friendly and kind. The food is fresh and tastes amazing - I especially love the Ramen Noodle Stir-fry. I will definitely be back!!

if you compare the price of this place in another Thai restaurant on campus, this is more expensive, which I was surprised. the portion is huge. the food is amazing. I ordered panang curry with medium heat. later on, my stomach hurt and had to go to the bathroom a lot. when I ate my leftovers the next day, my stomach hurt again. I didn't eat the rest. I've ordered panang curry in other restaurants and I'm used to spiciness. so it was weird that their food is giving me issues. panang curry has coconut milk, maybe the milk was expired 😕 also, when I had to leave I had to go up the counter and pay. the waiter was nowhere to be found. I really like this place because it has interesting decors.

The food here is good, but ridiculously expensive. I placed a carry out order for chicken pad thai and when I came to get it, it was $20 (which is several dollars more than it says on their website). $20 is way too much for pad Thai, although to be fair it was a reasonably generous portion. There is also no way to order carry out online...how does a restaurant not have that option in 2022? Giving four stars just because the food was good and the service was friendly, but I don't think I will be returning due to the astronomical prices.

Expensive but for very good reason. Hands down the best Thai food I've ever had, and frankly it is rare to have the vegetables in a dish actually be delicious the way they are here rather than just presentation. Everything we've tried here felt homemade with incredible depth of flavor. Again be aware going in of the price, but if it's within your budget I don't know if you'll find better Thai food in the entire state.

Not AT ALL a good one, when we asked for medium spicy they poured all green pepper or jalapeno type spices over the food. We could not enjoy the food after eating , the whole family suffered stomach burns in the night. I would not recommend.

Thara Thai is the BEST Thai food in the area!! Quality ingredients, friendly staff, and a large variety so everyone can get what they like. We have tried several dishes along with our favorites, Pad See Eiw and Panang Curry, and have never been disappointed.

Bit of a hit or miss. We have order from here 3 times so far. The first two were pretty good However, the last time I ordered a medium spicy dish with a Thai ice tea. The dish was extremely spicy even for me, and I have a high spice tolerance (I ordered medium previously). The Thai ice tea tasted floral. It wasn't made with black tea as is the standard and it had less body than regular Thai ice tea. Considering the fact that it is $17 a plate, I'm not sure if I'll be back if the food isn't consistent.
