I love this incredible spot to get fresh, local beers on draft to enjoy in the beer garden or by the bonfire. Alan and Breanne, the owners are super friendly and knowledgeable about beer. They are happy to provide you with a recommendation that will suit your taste. They offer howlers and growers of beers to go or pick up a bomber or six pack of beer to go.

Plank Road Tap Room has one of the best tap lists, not only in Illinois but in the Country! Every time I go there the beer is just outstanding! Chuck and his wood fired pizza is there once a month, now through October. Get out here now for some awesome beer and insane pizza! To see the full video subscribe to my You Tube page A Biker Dude!

This place is really cool. Super friendly & fast servers who are knowledgeable about the beer list and what they're serving. The trail pass is worth it if you enjoy walking in tranquil wooded pathways while drinking amazing beer and seeing a chill horse hanging out. I definitely recommend visiting Plank Road Tap Room After visiting twice I'm absolutely coming back.

My husband and I love coming here with friends every weekend. Great outdoor space, local brews, and awesome food truck options that rotate frequently. We also love how close they are!

Can I give more than 5 stars? Plank Road Tap Room is the best bar in the suburbs, hands down! PRTR offers a stellar rotation of local brews and great craft beer from all around the country (and beyond) and a warm, welcoming atmosphere. There's always a nice variety... pils, lagers, IPAs, sours, stouts, porters, Kolsch, ales, barrel-aged, etc. If beer is not your thing or if you just want a change of pace, they have a nice selection of wines, ciders and craft cocktails; the old fashioned is my favorite! My wife and I have been going to PRTR since they opened back in 2013 and are proud to count ourselves among the regulars. Over the years, PRTR has grown and evolved so much. The tap room itself has a cozy, comfortable, lodge feel; it is an old log cabin, after all. The patio and beer garden grounds are truly pristine; whenever we're there it feels like we're on vacation! The lounge pod provides a unique, private, VIP-like experience. Our favorite spot, however, is their front porch, such a relaxing way to enjoy a great beer! Throughout the pandemic, PRTR demonstrated so much resiliency, perseverance, flexibility and ingenuity. Navigating all of the phases, mitigations and whatnot, they shifted to a bottle shop and craft beer to-go business model, added countless firepits to the beer garden for the winter and chilly evenings, launched a fast, convenient, contactless ordering system, opened up and heated their pole barn, and created a hiking/snowshoeing trail experience. As someone who erred more on the side of caution, I felt comfortable and confident with all of the COVID-safety protocols and mitigations they followed/implemented and was so glad to be able to continue to support PRTR. It really became our go-to in 2020. Did I mention food trucks yet? How about live music & events? PRTR often has some of the best food trucks on site waiting to serve you: The Argonaut, Fork'n'Fry, El Zorro, ACE, The Roaming Hog, Chuck's, Biker Dude Burgers, Taco Madre, the list goes on & on. For live music, their "Music in the Garden" concert series highlights some amazing local talents: Make It A Double, Jimmy Marquis, One Man Ginger Band, Chicago Hot Five, New Vintage Strings ;) ...and so many more. The road trip/brewery tour experiences are really cool too. We also love all of the pairings (wine & cheese, charcuterie, doughnuts & beer, etc.) and yoga events. Elgin needs more of this! The staff and beertenders/Cicerone(s) are so friendly, helpful, professional and knowledgeable. Tom, Melissa, Andy, Matt, John (and anyone else I might have missed) will take good care of you. The owners, Breanne & Alan, are all-around great people and true friends who care deeply for their customers and their community. We are so lucky to have PRTR in our neighborhood! Best people. Best beer. Best beer garden in Illinois. Best bar in the suburbs. Best music venue in the suburbs. 10/10.

This place is hands down the absolute best neighborhood bar! The staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to chat or hangout. The beer selection is HUGE. Even the pickiest drinker can find something delicious on the menu. They have everything from local beer right down the road, to selections from both coasts. Don't know what to drink? They'll be happy to point you in the right direction. Not a big beer drinker? No problem! They have plenty of other drinks to wet your whistle. The food trucks are always amazing and delicious, and always pair well with a beer. They have special events all the time! From beer and donut pairing, to bacon and donut pairing, to beer and beer pairing! There's always people hanging out and playing bags, knocking out a board game, or being super imaginative (and mildly inappropriate) with Cards Against Humanity. You will not find a better place to drink a beer in Elgin. Plus, doesn't hurt that the owners are there all the time and SUPER attractive. Prost!

Such a great vibe, super chill, does a few things with pure excellence and doesn’t try to do more. About 12 tap options including one excellent cider (some ready-made cocktails are also GF options). We came on a food truck night (Sammy’s) and can’t wait until they are paired up again.

Came here a couple Fridays ago and it was kinda rainy, but we still sat outside under one of the umbrella tables and it was lovely. Now plank room is more of a beer place, but they have wine now. Which is what I prefer. It's such a cute place to go to. They had a food truck that night but we had already eaten so we weren't hungry. There are games to play, like board games and cards, there is a tiny house/room that you can rent, the setting/atmosphere is one of the best, they have lots of activities/social engaging happening. You can even bring your pets!! I will definitely be returning more often.

Friendly staff, clean and many yummy beer choices. Not much in the way of indoor seating so it's a bit chilly as the fall season evolves outside. But, the outdoor area is comfortable and pleasing when the weather allows. The clientele seems pleasant as well. Friendly all around.

I like the vibe of this place. It's a tad pricey but a good selection. When it's busy parking is a bit rough if you have a low profile car because they have a grass lot for overflow. They bring in food trucks which are cool for more variety.

You want to go here...a few old favorites stay on tap year round, and a rotating variety of fantastic beers and a cider or two. Other non-beer options available too. The staff are very knowledgeable and can set you up right.

Looks nice but I've tried to stop and have a drink there 3 or 4 different times since they opened. They have wonky hours and private parties and always some reason. Best call ahead to avoid getting turned away. Will definitely update my review should I ever actually be able to have a drink here.

Lots of potential here. Cozy with a large outdoor area including seating with fire pits. Wood is $15 if you want a fire. Clean restrooms and friendly service are found here along with newer but tight indoor seating area. Will go back as this was our first visit. Live guitar player/singer outside named Josh that sounded very good but froze his fingers off... Tap Room, give him some heat! Met friendly and fun people so looking forward to stopping in again. It's located right across from Klein's on Plank Road.
