Came as a new patient for family medicine to see Dr. Thurman. As having been a former associate director of risk and finance for one of NYC's largest health systems I immediately found a new primary care physician after having experienced "care" by Dr. Thurman. As far as a high performing physician goes, he is exemplary in that he churns through patients like a machine all while pretending show a high level of (prescribed) empathy. He will even go so far to tell you that he was chair of a hospice so in terms of show you how much he "cares", he has seen the worst so be prepared for a full-on performance. But in terms of actual care provided, he did not address any of my initial concerns, simply glazed over them, requested a generic RBC/blood work and literally helped me to the checkout line. There were certain medications that I explicitly told the medical office assistant upon intake as well as some testing I needed, all of which were not addressed but only after following up myself not once, but twice via MyChart. I can see him as being a star-performer as far as a health system goes, again because he minimizes patient office visit time, but from a patient perspective, I would steer clear. I have since found another physician and am much happier with him in terms of concerns being addressed and not just treated like livestock- I would suggest you do the same.

Shady billing and no way to discuss with anyone. Medical bills are always tough but they take it to a whole new level by making a basic physical into a months long ordeal that will likely never be corrected.

Very poor communication. The receptionist wasn’t sure what the price is $300 or $700 for an ultrasound. After making a call she told me $295 for an ultrasound, the rest is to talk to the nurse…like it’s totally ok. They also confirmed my appointment on Zocdoc, sent me text reminders and then said I don’t have one when I arrived; said left a voice mail, but didn’t leave one. Everything just kind of went wrong, I just don’t understand why they price their services so highly when there’s no basic courtesy to begin with

Medical staff were friendly. It’s the Public Safety officer. He’s the first person you come to before checking in. Besides being rude to us, I sat in the waiting area for approximately an hour and his demeanor on how he interacts with several patients checking in is awful. Its liked he was bothered by patients asking him questions because he had to look up from his cell phone.

IS THERE -5 STARS?! HORRIBLE SERVICE. I was seen here to order CPAP supplies, as I just moved from out of state. I was told that they would order my CPAP supplies and send them to me. After 3 weeks, I questioned why I did not receive the supplies. In the past with my other provider, it took usually 3-4 business days to receive. I called the main phone and got transferred to the clinic itself. They then advised no one was answering the phone and I would be sent to voicemail and they would call me back. I left a detailed message about my concerns. No call back after a week. I call back for a second time and I finally get a hold of someone. They advised that the supplies were not ordered and he would have to check with the doctor. I advised him if they used the same supply order company that I have used in the past, as it may just be easier to find my information minus my new address. He said yes and he would send my supply order. Well, another week passes and nothing! I email Dr. Amy Guralnick directly with the email address provided on their website, NO REPLY TO THIS DAY. It's been 58 days from when I was seen in the clinic, no CPAP supplies, no call or email reply from the doctor. I did receive the bill for my co-pay and they already received the $670 from my insurance. HORRIBLE. Sleep apnea is a serious condition and can be fatal. They obviously do not care about their patients. DO NOT GO HERE IF YOU PLAN ON GETTING ANY SUPPLIES! YOU'LL HAVE BETTER LUCK ON THE BLACK MARKET THAN HERE!!!

OBGYN Dr. Katrina Lee seemed a very pleasant doctor, but after I have pointed out few flaws in her bedside manner (I’ve had trouble receiving my prescription refill in a timely manner and when performing biopsy she didn’t offer me an anesthesia - this experience turned out to be traumatic for me) she decided to ignore my messages and canceled my birth control. I find this behavior petty and unprofessional. Also if you ever get offered an MD by name Miral Patel anywhere, in UChicago or other places - RUN FOR YOUR LIFE! She is everything a doctor should not be - dismissive, ignorant, full of herself. I went to her several times hoping she could help me with my life-crippling health issues, but she only told me it’s in my head, ignored any abnormal test results and went on about her life. I have never encountered someone so unworthy of their title in my experience.

I was done all works for check in and then they can cancel my appointment. Don't waste your time here. They are so irresponsible. I can't believe it's one of well-known medical center in Chicago. I would like to give 0 star if it's possible.

Had a pretty negative experience with the timeliness of the service. Overall spent a total of 2 hours waiting at the clinic. I invested a lot of energy to arrive on time but it took 30+ minutes to see my provider. After my brief appointment my provider entered in a blood draw order incorrectly which I discovered while waiting in the lobby. The staff told me that it would be corrected shortly so I continued waiting for an additional 1.5 hours. After a certain point I left and the following week I saw a different provider (not at UChicago). Never got a follow up over the phone after I left or any messages from the provider team. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone.

Scheduled an appointment through ZocDoc, a month in advance. Came here today to find out that they don’t have a record of it! The reception person didn’t apologize, didn’t even try to help me find another appointment, he just said this type of situation has happened before, great! Maybe you should fix that, and not waist ppl’s time!

It is currently 16:48 and my appointment was for 16:00. I am being told that it will be another 30-45 minutes to see Dr. Katrina Lee. I am very pregnant and absolutely have to see the doctor today. I have NEVER waited this long and NEVER plan to come back.

This location of UofC is not only beautiful but the staff are all sweet and kind. I have never had a bad experience and have made this my preferred UofC location. Keep up the good work!

BEWARE!! For a simple TDAP vaccination ($52 at Walgreens) they charged me $145 for the vaccine and another $174 to stick it in my arm -- two separate charges. Then they charged me $763 for being a new patient - $1,082 total for 15 minutes of consultation (doctor was nice) and a common vaccine. The insurance company, which doesn't cover preventive care, said they had negotiated rates and my total should only by $337.69. Nope, UChicago said. They are not apologetic in demanding the full amount because I'm a self-pay customer. So, if the insurance company pays it, they get a break. But if any individual has to pay it, full price (at extortion-level rates). How is that even legal?! Save yourself the trouble and expense. Go to Midwest Urgent Care in River North. I go to them now -- $120 for better care, they don't try to bilk you out of your money, and there's usually no waiting.

This is over all the best medical center I’ve ever been to. I arrived an hour early and they got me check in quickly, and got me seen by the doctor just as fast. I’ve never had fast service like this before so I am very impressed. Because they didn’t rush through their job, they made sure to be patient and informative with me, and they were very kind. Because I had traveled out here alone and they made me feel very comfortable and safe. I’m very grateful for the two lady’s that helped me yesterday and held my hand through my procedure. They took very good care of me. And for that I am very grateful I chose to come to this facility. The front desk lady shante was also nice and informative. I wish the hospitals where I’m from had this positive environment. I normally don’t feel heard. But here they kept asking me to let them know if I had questions. I wasn’t use to doctors listening to me. So when I noticed they actually cared I felt a bit emotional. But hopefully I can make someone here my primary doctor. Because I loved the doctor I had earlier. Which was Dr H McLaren, I’d highly recommend her. She and the nurse with orange hair did an amazing job. I wish all the staff here nothing but the best. Because they are an amazing team here.

What hospital doesn't allow flowers to be given to their loved ones? This one! Absolutely no compassion for their patients or their families. Ridiculous!

IS THERE - 5 STARS?! Horrendous SERVICE. I was seen here to arrange CPAP supplies, as I just moved from out of state. I was informed that they would arrange my CPAP supplies and send them to me. Following 3 weeks, I addressed why I didn't get the provisions. In the past with my other supplier, it took generally 3-4 work days to get. I called the fundamental telephone and got moved to the actual facility. They then, at that point prompted nobody was picking up the telephone and I would be shipped off phone message and they would get back to me. I left a definite message about my interests. No get back to following seven days. I get back to briefly time and I at long last snag somebody. They prompted that the provisions were not arranged and he would need to check with the specialist. I exhorted him in the event that they utilized a similar stockpile request organization that I have utilized before, as it might simply be simpler to discover my data short my new location. He said yes and he would send my stockpile request. All things considered, one more week passes and nothing! I email Dr. Amy Guralnick straightforwardly with the email address gave on their site, NO REPLY TO THIS DAY. It's been 58 days from when I was found in the facility, no CPAP supplies, no call or email answer from the specialist. I got the bill for my co-pay and they previously got the $670 from my protection. Horrendous. Rest apnea is a genuine condition and can be lethal. They clearly couldn't care less with regards to their patients. Try not to GO HERE IF YOU PLAN ON GETTING ANY SUPPLIES! YOU'LL HAVE BETTER LUCK ON THE BLACK MARKET THAN HERE!!!

Purely a review on ease of access and thoughtful, beautiful, and simple interior design. So many times it is confusing where to go etc. in hospital/doctors office settings
