Outrageous prices for fast food. $34 for wife and I. Culvers is better and bigger portions at Culvers. The shakes were $5+ and they were like half size shakes, probably 10 ounces. Chicken sandwich 7.99 without fries. Popeyes has the exact same sandwich 3.99. Fries $3. Wife had a single burger $6. Glad I went once so I can tell all my friends, "nothing to see here keep moving". I will not return to have my wallet emptied.

Not sure what all the negs are about this place but between this location and Old Orchard which was the first location I've dined in maybe 3 times so far, never have I had a bad experience of any kind. Venue is kept clean, customer service is always attentive & friendly, food is fresh & tasty, menu has a decent variety of items and prices seem reasonable. If there's anything from me that resembles a negative about SS, it's the fries. Fresh cuts are definitely the in thing over old fashioned crinkle cuts which are only available in one size but not reason enough to lower the 5⭐ rating. Other than that, love the burgers which are slightly smaller than most places but are delicious especially with that Shack sauce, chicken is tasty, crinkle cuts are fine and shakes are awesome.

Food was tasty but very small portions for the price. Ordered cheeseburgers and got something a little bigger than a slider. The restaurant itself was dirty for just being opened a couple of hours before we ate there. There was garbage and food on the floors and the ordering tablets, tables and condiment station were sticky and had fingerprints all over them. Ever heard of a mop and some Lysol wipes??? I don’t believe the restaurant had been a cleaned all week from the look of things. Second and last time eating here. At least we gave it a second chance and nothing changed.

I had the double Shake burger with cheese. I must say that is a delicious burger cooked well. The fries are great. I have not tried everything on the menu but I will. I will edit and report back. If you are near a Shake Shack don't hesitate to to go in and try something.

Shake Shack is an upscale Steak N Shake. Burgers are always consistent and good. This particular location could use a bit more cleaning- we came twice and both times tables and the floor were dirty.

There were not enough tables and no clean tables. The food is ok but no where near being good enough for what they charge. I ordered a lemonade and they filled 3/4 of the cup with ice and would not give me a refill. The reason they got two stars was definitely the prices. One chicken sandwich one bacon burger 2 fries one with cheese and a large lemonade was $40. Crazy. Let’s not even talk about the shakes that my son said were not as good as McDonald’s!

Food is good, 3stars review is because the clean : we could not find a table which would be clean (each and every table was dirty). When I asked stuff to clean at least one table the person looked at me like I asked to wash my car ! At the end the person was too slow so I took my own napkins and cleaned the table for my family myself. The bathroom was clean but the water was hot so it almost impossible to wash hands.

Would have given 5 stars because the people and shakes were awesome. However they are switching to self checkout. I don't agree with self checkout. It takes away jobs and is less personal.

It was ok. Not like other Shake Shacks I had been to. Food was average. I didn't like the soda setup. Customers seem to be waiting way too long for food so maybe that added to a weird quite Vibe. My kids noticed it also. Could have just been timing and mentally comparing to Shake Shake in Oak Brook which is by far the best one.

The burgers and shakes were good. The price was more than anticipated, and for the place being empty and as many people on staff the lobby was messy. And tell people to stop touching their heads. If he was touching my food I would have asked for a refund. Food safety 101 you touch any part of your body you must wash your hand

Always an amazing experience, still some of the best burgers in the fast food industry. Just tried the spicy chicken sandwich and that is amongst the best fast food sandwiches Ive ever had, and not just in the chicken category.

  • 2/5 Pamela F. 5 months ago on Google
Pretty let down with the lunch we had. The chicken bites were overcooked - hard and dry. The spicy burger was just hot to be hot - not to taste good. The bacon avocado burger had no sauce on it, and both the patty and the bacon were limp. The chocolate shake was average. The fries did come put hot and crispy. And the cheesy fries are worth the the little bit extra. The kiwi apple Lemonade is punch you in the mouth tart but in a good way. And the root beer was enjoyable. The parking lot is plenty big. The guy that took our order was polite and attentive. The rest of the staff didn't seem to want to be there. The bathrooms are moderately clean but just barely. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to go again.

Shout out to the awesome staff on duty tonight around 7:30. I placed a HUGE order (through the app) for 12 tweens. Not only was it ready on time and correct, but served with a smile! Thanks for your hospitality!

Waited for a long time for someone to come to the window. When we got home with the order, it had cheese and sauce on one of the sandwiches even though I specifically ordered none. I decided to just order another one, so I had to go back out. When I got there, waited and waited again even though employees could be seen just wandering around. I had to pound on the window to get someone to come to the window. I got the second order and a drink. I had to pound on the window again to get the guy to come back and give me a straw. Your service and quality sucks.

Best gluten free burger ever! The buns are soft and steamed. Excellent food. Very kind staff. Generous supporters of local charities too. Nicely done Shake Shack Vernon Hills!

This was my first time trying shake shack and I was very excited because I’ve heard good things about it but my experience wasn’t great. When we got to the pick up window the employee just opened the window and said nothing, not even hello we then said we had a pick up order he left came back with our order opened the window and again said nothing and left. We got our order as soon as it was ready and I was eating the fries on the way home and somehow they were ice cold, not even warm but ice cold, as if they had been sitting out for hours. We also ordered our fries with ranch which we did not receive. When we got home we tried our burgers which were good but also cold which didn’t make sense to me because we had just picked them up. The only good thing was the cookies and cream shake which was delicious. I might come back for the shake but the food wasnt promising.

not sure what all the negative reviews are for, i come here all the time and i've never had a bad experience. the burgers are consistently great and so are the fries. their new veggie burger is really excellent too, they nailed the flavor and texture. for the price i feel like the quality is there. employees are always friendly as well!

Good food, a bit pricey for a malt and a burger, you have to go through the kiosk which was malfunctioning again... Bathroom very messy. Loud music. Watch your knees on the poorly designed table... But still delicious non the less.

Here’s what you need to know: 2 words: GREAT SERVICE! Joshua, the manager is as good and as customer focused as any leader I’ve ever met in a restaurant. He is so warm and engaging and does whatever it takes to make every customer satisfied. This is a very well run shake shack. Orders are quick and accurate, special requests catered to - and everything with a small - just great management! Food is consistently well executed. My family loves coming to this location. Thanks so much to Joshua and his team for running a great ship here. Ambiance wise - clean and well kept. Condiments are perfectly stocked.

My favorite fast-casual restaurant in the area. The burgers are always great, and make sure to try the cheese fries. My favorite to order was the smoke shack burger. And doesn’t disappoint me when it comes to the taste. It was so delicious and freshly prepared. Also I tried the cookies & cream it was so refreshing. It was good quality of food they have. It’s a little on the pricey side compared to other burger spots but it’s worth it. Staff was so nice, attentive and very friendly. The ambiance was good, clean store. And for the menu they have a unique selection of burger and a wide selection of drinks. I definitely eat again here.

Shake Shack in Vernon Hills is a burger aficionado's paradise. Their burgers are juicy, flavorful, and made with high-quality ingredients. The crinkle-cut fries are crispy and satisfying. The milkshakes are rich and creamy, the perfect accompaniment to the meal. The friendly staff and trendy atmosphere enhance the dining experience. For a mouthwatering burger joint with a modern twist, Shake Shack is a must-try in Vernon Hills.

First time here to check it out. I probably could ha e just gotten a burger from Kuma Korner for what we paid. The shake and fries were my favorite. I had the white truffle burger, and it was just okay.

The orange dreamsicle was okay. Fries were pretty good and fresh. Had their burgers before 7/10 bread can be soggy

First time going to a Shake Shack. The man at the counter was super friendly and helpful. Food was good. Oreo Shake hit the spot. Regular burger was good. Next time I'll skip the fries. It was a good portion and I didn't need to eat all of them!

Decided to give this place a try. This'll be the first and last time. I ordered a burger, fries and a drink. $17+, so I figure okay, it must be pretty good. 25 minute wait, then my food is put on the counter with the drink top caved in and pouring down the sides. Guy who dropped it off just spins around and peaces out to the back again. (Also I recommend ordering via the digital kiosk, because it's hard to get anyone to make eye contact with you, much less take your order). I'll give credit where it's due, though. Though the fries were pretty average, the burger was awesome. Small, but awesome. Somebody else on here recommended Culver's over them and I agree. Culver's burger is almost as good and you'll get 40% more food for 40% less money. And they'll be polite.

I have to say, this is the first time for shake shack for myself, if you can eat fresh(myself ate at parking lot),it is top 3 burgers at North American franchises, we ordered the original beef burger and spicy chicken, the meat is like Burger King grilled putty but much more fresh, spicy chicken with bacon is awesome as well, remind me the good chicken burgers back in china(yes, you did not heard it wrong, Chinese KFC and McDonald’s served chicken burger/sandwich,and believe it or not, it’s better than here(normal burger is similar taste))restaurant have modern look and very clean, takeout bag is also paper based and fused with brand culture, did not try their drinks this time, but I will definitely came for this brand later in other city!

First time eating at Shake Shack, the food was hot and had great flavor. Would definitely eat at one again.

  • 3/5 Rob L. 2 years ago on Google
I'd give this a 3.5 if the option were there. The meat in the burger was excellent, 6 out of 5. Everything else? Not so much, solid 3 out of 5 for the rest. The bun wasn't that great, looked like they tried to grill it and forgot to turn on the griddle. The fries were soggy, our shake was more milk than shake and didn't taste that great. As expensive as this was we expected better.

Excited today cuz it was a cheat meal and first time at this restaurant. Shocked that my chocolate shake did not come with whip cream or cherry and tasted like a below average chocolate ice cream in shake thickness. I mean shake is in the name right? I wasn’t able to order from drive thru without downloading the app: another poorly thought out plan. The burger was pretty good and the softest bun I’ve ever had. The cheese fries were different but in a delightful way. The staff was friendly and seemed playful and happy to be there. It was nice to be in a restaurant and the staff not have the standard toxic overworked feel.

The hot ones burger was ok and at nearly 9$ it seemed high priced, the basic bread and cheese grilled cheese was just under 5$ and a 3+$ small pop seemed a bit high priced as well

  • 3/5 Jennifer H. 2 years ago on Google
The food is pretty average. The burgers are a bit small but taste pretty good. The employees are extremely nice and helpful. The wait was about 20/25 min but they seemed to be pretty slammed and churning out orders as fast as they could. No complaints there. There are some unique flavors... especially with the drinks. What I didn't like is that it is RIDICULOUSLY expensive. We paid $100 for a family of 4 with standard burgers, fries and shakes. Just very hard to justify that for an average burger/chicken place. Nice to try but won't be going back at those prices.
