We lived in the Olean area in the late 70s. The Beef N Barrel was a small restaurant with great food. Since then they have purchased 7 properties and they are a big place with great food. Their beef on wick sandwich is their signature dish. This is a place worth driving to!

On 12/22/23, my husband, myself & my Aunt stopped in for lunch. I had the French onion chicken breast. The chicken was so over done & dry, that it was tough to cut , as well as chew. I was very disappointed because it sounded so good.I told the server( who was excellent) that I couldn't eat the chicken & wanted it removed from the bill. When we got home, my husband noticed this sly move. The cost of the chicken was not on the bill. HOWEVER, we were charged $ 7.95 for the tossed salad that Came with the meal,& 50cents for the salad dressing! I called the restaurant & asked to speak to the manager. I was told the manager was carving meat , but would call me when he was finished. What a shock, I never received a call from the manager. Never will we return.

The beef is outstanding and there are so many options! I had the open face beef sandwich and my friend had the beef n cheese sandwich. We had sweet potato fries with honey. Absolutely delicious!!

We were pleasantly surprised by this gem in Olean that we'd never really experienced. Everyone absolutely loved their meals. The porterhouse steak special was LITERALLY mouth-watering, and the desserts were out of this world. Our server could have stood to learn more about the meaning of friendly and personable, and we would have appreciated a heads up from her about the CRAZY size of the desserts that our kids ordered (they could have shared one and STILL could not have finished it). But we definitely plan to come back as a family. What a beautiful atmosphere - we had no idea the extent of the inside. And so well-kept and beautiful! Thank you for a nice evening and such FABULOUS food! We'll be back!

We were just passing through. We were on our way back home to Indiana from dropping our daughter off at Ithaca and stopped to get gas in Olean. My husband and I were googling places to eat since it was just us. What an amazing find! We will be making sure to get into Olean during business hours so we can stop in here again! The meals were outstanding and the dessert was *chefs kiss*. Do not miss out on this gem!

All the food was great except my wife's mashed potatoes, which were bland. Otherwise the food was excellent. The desserts were yummy. The service was superb and the atmosphere was enjoyable.

I came for the French Onion soup because of the picture on the website. It came to my table exactly like the photo! It was delicious! Service was great. Food was great!!!! Shelly the Server was very friendly and attentive. Kept refilling my drink and asking if I was okay. great!!!! Thank you to the stranger who bought me my meal. I will pay it forward.

I had the best Reuben ever!!! Stuffed banana peppers were awesome. And my husband had the roast beef on Kennewick and loved it. Everything is made fresh and they don't cut any corners! They even have their rolls and bread made fresh daily on-site . How many places can you say do that ? Friendly and awesome staff. Highly suggest trying it!

Been going here for years. I'm not sure I've ever had a bad meal here or even bad service. The atmosphere is very cozy. The wait can be long during busy times, but that's a testament to how good it is. The beef on weck is fabulous, and any roast beef meal is ridiculously good. Just a fantastic place!

Great service and good food. The cheeseburger wrap was delicious, and you HAVE to get their honey mustard dipping sauce for the fries (or anything, really), it’s phenomenal.

We make sure to visit each time we camp in the area! Love the atmosphere and specialty drinks. (Of course the beef is amazing too)

They are noted for their roast beef. Since I like to try local cuisine, I ordered a full German experience: roast beef on their homemade weck bread with sides of German potato salad and baked beans. Outstanding. I recommend medium rare for a moister sandwich. The flavor of the rye bread topped with caraway seeds and Kosher salt added depth of flavor. The vinegar based potato salad was balanced by the sweetness from the baked beans. The combination of those with the sandwich was excellent!
