(Translated by Google) I recommend this park, it has a small playground for children and otherwise there are many benches where you can relax. The park is guarded and cared for, it also has many trees, so during the summer you have a place to sit on the bench in the shade. These people are absolutely amazing - i attended multiple tours and events organized by them and it was always a wonderful experience - very well documented, perfectly organized, a good mix of learning and entertainment - basically a perfect setup for making great memories!

I have attended a couple of events organized by Interesting Times, from wine tasting to strolls through the city. Each event was carefully planned and you normally get a bit more than just the promised experience. Wine tasting events were usually paired with a bit of culture or history, something that complemented the wine experience. We once visited a winery museum, another time, we tasted wine made from an ancient Dacian recipe after attending an exhibition about Dacian and Roman artefacts found in Romania. We also celebrated Midsummer with stories and legends long forgotten. The strolls around the city offered a different view of the streets and houses, that one is normally accustomed to. Through old stories about the buildings and their former inhabitants, you gain a new perspective of your city and its history. And the added bonus was the piece of chocolate or a bagel. 😊 There are still a couple of events that I have my eye on: visit to an old communist apartment, urban art. Although I have grown up in such an apartment, being familiar with most of the now museum pieces, a walk down memory lane is sometimes beneficial. Also, for those unfamiliar with that part of the recent history, it can be mind blowing. As far as urban art is concerned, I have often walked past murals wondering who and why and when created them. Can’t wait to book them.

I did this food tour with a local guide Bogdan, who greeted the group with a small local snack. After a short introduction we started to explore the neighbourhood, before we stopped for some appetisers and drinks. After we hopped on a tram and went to the market, which is a bit outside from the city centre. We wandered around and collected some fruits, veggies and cheeses, before we stopped again for a local barbecue and beers. That was really amazing experience and we felt like true locals for a moment. We finished the tour with a yummy dessert and then Bogdan took us back to the centre. Would recommend this tour to all the foodies out there - a must when in Bucharest!!!

Ioana was a phenomenal guide. I’ve taken a couple of Alternative Tours and this was by far the best one I’ve done. Ioana is very passionate about her city and it shows! The tour was a perfect mix of street art/graffiti, architecture, and history. The tour also ended at an awesome coffee shop/art gallery called FORMA. I’ve even taken other tours in Bucharest and I can say I saw and learned the most on Ioana’s Alternative Bucharest Tour! Try to book Ioana if possible!!

  • 5/5 ngor yi h. 4 years ago on Google
Took a tour with Ioana on the alternative tour with Urban Adventure. The city comes to life as Ioana shared with us the story and history behind the buildings, street arts. How Bucharest came to have its unique mixture of different styles, how to make sense of the street arts amidst the many graffiti. Come to learn more about some of the street art artists and theirs arts - piggy dogs, square cats and Mr Lemon. Discover street arts at the least expected places - inside an university, next to a cafe, cultural buildings and more. This tour will show you another side of Bucharest, beyond its history and into another world of visual enjoyment Pss. Ask Ioana to tell you about the mistake in the statue of King Carol I near the Impaled potato monument. :)

This was a great tour. I booked it for the street art. But it was so much more. Dana is a great guide. She really cares for Bucharest and is very knowledgeable about the history, architecture and current issues. The tour was very interesting and fun. We learned many things you cannot read in any guidebooks. I strongly recommend this or any other tour with Dana as a guide.

Our tour guide Bogdan picked us up at the National Theatre and greeted us with some typical Romanian covrigi :) After an interesting history lesson about Bucharest, we explored the city together. I was really impressed with his deep knowledge but more with his personal opinions and stories he shared with us. It didn’t seem like a city tour but more like a relaxed exploring day with friends. Bucharest offers a lot of amazing buildings, charming little markets and great local food. We finished the tour with some delicious mici and Romanian beer. 10/10!

I had the most enjoyable time!!!!! I took the history and gastronomy tour which had been the best choice of life! Dana is just awesome! She knows everything and so many interesting facts about Romania and Bucharest and I got to learn so much because of her, all about the politics, the history and some facts really got me related to my own country. She had such a great sense of humour and she was so smart and so patient. Not only that I got to visit all the must-seen touristic places but also she took to these hidden gems which really amazed me! I came to Bucharest with absolute no common sense about the country and no such high expectations. But now I just want to come back as soon as possible and if I’m lucky enough I’ll have her as my guide again!! Last but not the least, she took me to this awesome old magnificent restaurant to have a three course traditional Romania lunch and it was so delicious!!!!!!! Honestly this tour worth every penny and again I feel so grateful to have taken part in this tour and met Dana ❤️❤️❤️

The hidden gem tour was a great walking tour of the many types of architecture in Bucharest. Ionna was a wonderful tour guide and shared a great deal of history and knowledge.

This was a wonderful tour. My wife and I took the tour in February during the off season and had our guide, Bogdan all to our selves. The tour consisted of a lot of walking and Bogdan effortless kept conversation going between stops. He was incredibly knowledgeable about the history of the country. The food stops on the tour were amazing, especially the market. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone and would advise people to ask for Bogdan by name.

Dana was an absolutely fantastic guide, she spoke passionately about the history of Bucharest whilst showing us interesting landmarks throughout the City. Furthermore, she showed us some tremendous pubs/taphouses that we would have not known existed! Our group of 4 would recommend this your to anyone and everyone!

At a friend's suggestion, I took the "Beautiful Decay and Alternative" tour, and I'm so glad I did. I was only in Bucharest for a few days on business and had a single day to look around and get to know the city a little. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I had a really great time. My guide, Ioana, was fantastic. The tour took in loads of incredible buildings, from houses to museums, that are in various states of decay but also in various stages of repair and renovation. Each one has a story which Ioana conveyed with knowledge and passion, and we even had special permission to enter a number of them. This was followed by a tour of some amazing street art, which I absoutely loved. We even got to go inside the university and see some incredible murals by student artists. I got to see a vibrant, creative side of Bucharest which I would otherwise never have been aware of. The tour made me want to visit the city again and get to know it better. If I do, I'll definitely take another one of these tours (maybe the coffee tour Ioana said was in the pipeline!).

Amazing tour - let me understand more about Romania’s incredibly varied history and impressed with Andra’s knowledge, experience and ability to relay complex data in a pleasurable way for tour attendees to understand. She was a fantastic tour guide and a lovely individual to get to know. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who loves art, design, architecture, history and social aspects of a culture and how they impact art and design etc, and anyone who wants to dig into Romanian and Bucharest culture more deeply while enjoying the beauties the city has to offer. Brilliant!!

By far the best tour I've ever been on. Stayed on after and enjoyed lunch with Dana at a traditional Romanian restaurant and it was the best meal we've eaten by far. The tour was fantastic. She really knows the history and shared personal stories as well. She took us all over Bucharest and I feel I have a true sense of the city now.

The Beautiful Decay and Urban tour was incredible! My guide, Ioana was very informative and had a passion for the architecture and artwork she showed me. The highlight was a tour of Casa Macca, a beautiful decaying mansion. We also stopped for a drink in a very decorative old building that now functions as a billiards club. The final part of the tour was focused on local street art and graffiti. Ioana was very helpful and I highly recommend the Urban Adventures Beautiful Decay tour.

At 3 pm of a cold January day I met my guide, at the designated meeting point, for the Bucharest Dark History & Cemetery Tour. I was the only tourist, so I had the plus of a private walking tour with Andra, a lovely young lady who shared history and stories about the Golden Age of Romania while walking at the cemetery. Thanks to her knowledge I got immersed in her tales, some of them very dark indeed, about important women and men of Romania during the mid-19th century, until this wonderful time came at an end with the two world wars. Then she walked me through another dark period in the history of Romania: from Ceaușescu until the Revolution. It is a very interesting and informative tour, also because Andra perfectly conveys her passion for some characters and her knowledge about history. It was a cold afternoon warmed up by Andra!

Dana was an excellent guide. We booked this tour wanting to learn more about the history of Bucharest. Dana was extremely knowledgeable and willing to share the gems of her city. We felt we got to know the city, its history, architecture, culture, struggles and beauty. She is obviously passionate about what she does and this helped us to enjoying being here all the more. She went above and beyond to ensure we had a great time. Her English was exceptional too. Would definitely recommend.

We did the Bohemian food and market tour with Dana. She was a fantastic guide sharing loads of stories about the history of buildings and people. The tour was great fun with her and she took us to places you wouldn’t normally get as a tourist. Thank you so much.

A fascinating and quirky insight to an alternative side of Bucharest. Bogdan was my superb guide who excellent grasp of English and history really brought to life (or death) this tour. More importantly, it was Bogdan’s cultural insights that really made the tour so much more memorable, offering windows into Romanian life that can not be found on any website. A thoroughly wonderful afternoon.

We did the Dark Side tour with Andra. This was a very interesting and fun way to better understand the diverse history and culture of Romania. I had booked the histpry tour of Bucharest. I recommend this guided tour at the beginning of your trip in Bucharest. This gave me an excellent perspective of the history, culture and politcs of Romania. Ioana was my tour lead and she was very friendly and shared some great insights not just on the above mentioned aspects but also on the architectural styles and history of some hidden gems in Old town of Bucharest. I highly recommend this tour.

Dana was absolutely amazing. She spent the whole day carefully telling us the wonderful story of București (Bucharest) and its many peoples. A great tour! Our guide Ioana had so much knowledge to share about the history and architecture of the neighbourhoods we covered - we went to places we would never have gone without being on the tour and saw some beautiful buildings and art. If you have an interest in art, architecture, design etc. this tour is essential! It would be a shame to come to Bucharest and miss this! Plus you get a beer and a pretzel, perfect!

Whenever I travel, It is my goal to get to know the place I'm visiting the deepest I can, and that involves getting off the beaten touristic path. The tour I took with Bogdan was precisely what I wanted. It was so incredible to walk around the city with a very informed local person who was so friendly and so ready to answer all of our many questions! We've been to places I'm quite sure we wouldn't visit on our own, and we discovered a not very well known part of Bucharest that was so interesting! I could not recomend it enough!

We took a 6 people (teens included) private walking tour with the intention to give an idea of what Bucharest is to our guests from abroad and to also for our family to learn new things about our city. BUAd was vey flexible and prepared a customised tour that took us from the early history of the city to the royalty and communism with a chronological walking path that combined in the best way the city key places and history key moments. Our guide Andra was fantastic: very knowledgeable, friendly and flexible and proficient in English. Highly recommended for both visitors and locals!

I am fortunate enough to have had a private walking tour with Dana. A very cold January day is not in high demand for a walking tour, so it was just the two of us. Dana is friendly, intelligent, well spoken, and most importantly a scholar when it comes to Romanian and Bucharest culture, architecture and history. I am sure there are other great guides, but my time with her was special. There is so much to see and learn on this tour - highly recommended.
