#TipsForTrips; it’s especially peaceful sitting under the rustling leaves of Bodhi tree on weekdays when there isn’t big crowd. Sunday morning is lively with community activities to partake 👍👍 Mahindrama Buddhist temple must be one of the most historical and prominent temples in Penang and Malaysia. It’s a prime example of a Theravada Sri Lankan Buddhist temple rich in vibrant colors, images, structures and symbols. It’s said to contain relics of the Buddha, and a fully grown Bodhi tree originating from a sapling in Anuradhapura Sri Lanka, that descended from the original Bodhi tree in Bodhi Gaya India under which the Buddha attained Enlightenment. What I love most is the free community services rendered by volunteers; from Pali chanting to Meditation, TaiChi, Dharma classes, to Sunday school for children, free Medical clinics etc 🙏🙏

This is a famous temple in Penang especially during the exam period many students will come here to pray. Inside have few packing slots. They provided joss-sticks, lotus candles. After taking it we put our donation into the donation box. You may buy your own milk and write your wish when praying.

This is a popular Buddhist temple for aspiring students and scholars seeking blessings for good results. I visited the temple during the weekday and it was a peaceful atmosphere to pray. During festival, this temple will be very crowded.

A must visit site in Penang where Buddhist convene to learn Dhamma, meditate & seek alternative medication. Envelope & dwell in cool, quiet, peaceful & serenity @ shrine hall. Joss stick, oil & lotus candle offering are free even if you do not offer any donation. Bring your own offerings of fruit, milk or candles @ Stupa. Get a few booklets, book or listen to free Dhamma CDs to learn a few golden Buddha's advise to help understand and elevated your problems.

Nice & quiet place! Of course there are always lots of people coming to pray for children’s studies. My mother used to bring me here long time ago. There is not much of changes although we can see that it was being preserved well.

The place is very quiet, serene and harmonised with nature. A good place to sit in complete silence and just breath.. It has a good flow of nature energy and if you know how to meditate properly, you will feel recharged if you sit and meditate in the presence of Bodhisattva. The volunteers participating in this place are also very helpful and they try their best to keep the place clean consistently.

A place for people to pray here. It's quite relaxing here, but coming to the time UPSR, PT3, SPM, STPM or other big examination, here will be crowded with student that taking part in the exam praying here. Here also have Sunday School which teach the children about the history of the Buddha and also learning meditation

Peaceful and serene place to visit. Visit during weekend if you are a tourist and wish to avoid crowd. Well maintained and clean. I believe you can find reading materials or religious books in English version as well.

This is a Theravada Buddhist temple located at Kampar Road, Penang Island. Beautiful Vihara with deep history tracing back to Sri Lankan roots. Popularly known as "Guleng Hood" in the local Hokkien dialect whih literally translates as "Milk Buddha".

This is a famous temple for students or adults seeking for a smooth passing in their examinations (all sorts be it SPM, STPM, college or universities exam, professional exam, etc) Local call it “The Milk God” where one would offers milk to the God and some even attach their subject taken in the examination. Believe it or not, many claim that their prayers are often answered positively

A beautiful Sri Lankan Buddhist Temple of Theravada tradition located at Kampar Road. Well known among Penangites as 'Gu Leng Hood' in Hokkien or literally translated as Milk Buddha. It is popular with students sitting for major examinations to offer milk to the Buddha at Bodhi Tree for blessing. It is the temple I grow up with since primary school days and learned a lot about Buddhism from many teachers here. A serene place to practise meditation and learn ~ teaching of the Lord Buddha 🙏🙏🙏
