Fish & chips with a Japanese twist There’s no doubt that fish and chips is one of the most common Western dish that you can find everywhere, but finding a quality plate of authentic fish and chips can be a proven difficult. I was lately introduce to Frying Fish Club that focuses mainly on fish and chips. Not your usual fast-food fish and chips though, here they serve crispy fish & chips with a Japanese-inspired twist. Instead of the usual suspects Dory or Haddock, they swaps out to Shiro Maguro (White Tuna) which has a firmer, meatier texture and a natural fresh sweet profile. The fish and chips here is beautifully coated in a light tempura batter and fried till crispy golden brown. Everything was done well from the ultra crispy crunchy batter to the quality of the fish that is extremely tender. NGL, this could be the best fish & chips I ever had. Signature Fish and Chips The house-made yuzu miso glaze is a game-changer. Imagine zesty, citrusy notes of yuzu with the umami richness of miso!! It’s the perfect companion to the tender, flaky fish and crispy fries that are just as splendid as well. Crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside. The accompanying side of edamame in teriyaki sauce was also good pairing! Nori Fish and Chips. I love this interesting twist with the batter infused with seaweed. The combination of tender, perfectly seasoned fish and the delicate inclusion of nori adds briny and umami flavours that complements the fish well. A truly memorable and satisfying experience. accompanied by fries and Asian slaw Fried Cauliflower This is not your ordinary cauliflower! Even someone who doesn’t eat cauliflower will loves it!! Fried to perfection; boasting a golden, flavourful crispy exterior with every bite. Chicken Nanban Salad If you think only their fish and chips is good, they proven you wrong with their chicken nanban salad. Crispy fried chicken slathered in a rich and flavourful dressing, achieving the perfect balance of tenderness and juiciness. One of the juiciest fried chicken I have ever tasted. And the dressing made me collapse on the table mewing in delight after one bite.

Looking for a great curated selection of craft beers with great yummy delicious Japanese food. Mirage is the hidden place to go with a super chill out vibe and great for catch-ups and conversations. Nestled in a discreet location, I won’t be surprised it would be more popular in the months to come with more people knowing of this hideout. Back here for the second time with the my partner. Loving it. Thank you Timothy for the hospitality and knowledge sharing on craft beers.

Not only the craft beer are good. The Music is fantastic, one of the best sounding place to enjoy a beer. Appreciate owner putting emphasize on the sound.

Our visit to the Frying Fish Club, reignited our love for fish & chips!! I love how the classic British dish went well with a Japanese twist. It left me craving for more! Yummy fish & chips! The tempura batter was light and crunchy. It is a must-try for anyone visiting the Frying Fish Club. For group diners, I recommend ordering sides to go along with your mains! Grilled Fish Tacos and BBQ Wings are highly recommended!

Love the South African beers on tap, but the food needs lot of improvement ... the waiting time is long, and it is not hot ( as what you expect for something fresh off charcoal grill), not appetizing. The donburi’s rice is mushy, and also lukewarm.... The hummus and pitta was very good but nothing else is actually up to a good restaurant standard. Owner and staffs are friendly and nice.

Chill place for craft beers and filling food. Their steak with hummus was a surprising pairing that worked well. It would be better to go in larger groups to try more food options.

Nice craft beer, happy hour up to 7pm. Yakitori and wagyu beef bowl were excellent. Friendly service. Definitely worth trying if you are into beer and small bites.

Yummy fish and chips! Love that the fish was fresh & juicy, batter was light and crunchy. The side dish especially the crab salad was special and yummy! The calamari side was also good! Highly recommended for a simple and peaceful place to grab decent fish and chips.

Very pleasant evening sat outside at their high tables. The fish is medium firmness and nice large flakes. Batter is crisp, light and tasty. We enjoyed all three variations of the battered fish and chips. Washed down with a glass of their IPA, perfect!

We loved the yummy signature fish and chips made from white tuna, surf and turf (beef and prawn platter) and fried cauliflower. The wait was a little long due to limited staff working in the kitchen but it was pretty worth for the delicious food. Staff was also friendly and responsive. The only down side for me was the noise level which we also feedback to them. Besides that, it was a little hard to take food photos as the lighting was designed to suit the bar/pub-like settings. Will be back again for the food:)

Went there randomly for a birthday celebration with my sister. Pleasantly surprised with the tasty food and great selection of craft beers. We tried everything on the list of craft beers and went on a tasting spree, enjoying all the different flavors brought on by the beers. Food menu was quite limited but everything we ordered so sooooo good. Staff/boss were absolute gems, lovely hideaway. Highly recommended for a relaxing night. Worth every penny. 🙂

Loved the place. Little hideaway on Owen Road and will likely become a new local for craft ales and yakatori. Feels like a passion project. The staff are very friendly and engaging. The food is delicious and there is a good selection. There is a happy hour with $3 off each beer before 7pm.

Their Japanese-inspired Fish & Chips marries the crispiness of perfectly battered fish with 3 different flavours of fish, namely - signature fish & chips, nori fish & chips and spicy fish & chips, each coming with fries and a different salad at the side! The spicy one is my favourite and all of their fishes were really tender and meaty!! The calamari was really crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside too!

really loved the use of premium white tuna as the meat for fish and chips! love that the batter is thin and crispy without being too oily. the steak and hummus was also done really well — well-marinated steak with a nice char and a nutty and creamy hummus! great service and ambience too :-) would gladly return to try out more of their other dishes!

True to their name, quality fish and chips can be found right here! Dare I say that their fish and chips are “batter” than most? 😉 If you like your fish chunky with a bite, this is the place to go. They put a culinary spin on classic fish and chips with the seaweed version which you will not regret. For a complete fun night out, go for their oyster shooters and drinks! I promise freshness and enjoyment will be experienced.

Had Japanese-inspired fish & chips at Frying Fish Club for dinner with my son on Monday evening. I ordered the Signature version while my son ordered the Nori version. Seriously, this could be the best fish & chips we ever had. The fish was fresh, tender and silky smooth. The batter was thin and super crispy. The chips and sides were equally good. It was perfect! Highly recommended! Service was good and ambience was great!

Satisfied my fish and chips craving here! Everything was done well, from the ultra crispy fries to the unique refreshing Coleslaw. The fish was very high quality and the batter was crisp to perfection. Crunch was there when you bite into it. In love with the cauliflower bites too. Frying fish club is truly a class above the rest!

We had a very pleasant meal! The perfectly seasoned fish was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. The accompanying chips were golden and delicious. Fish taco was good but nothing super mind blowing. Would recommend getting the fish and chips: nori/spicy! The staff were very friendly, and we had an enjoyable and wonderful dinner. (PS. the spicy one is QUITE spicy)

Really enjoyed the Japanese inspired fish & chips here! The white tuna fish was extremely tender, complementing with the crispy tempura batter. Additionally, the batter is very light, non greasy and non flaky. I really loved how conveniently it was located near Farrer Park MRT, but at the same time, it is a standalone shop with really great ambience. Will definitely be back! :)

their fish and chips were so good! the tuna used was so fresh, tender and lightly battered. fries were crispy and a huge portion was given :) also recommend their fried cauliflower, which was slightly spicy and paired their housemade sauce really well!

Excellent food. Thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. The beer was good too. They have many beers on tap. We had the Sour, which was very good. I'm not a big beer drinker but I enjoyed that. There is a lot more on the menu I look forward to trying next time, if I don't end up giving in to the temptation of ordering the same delicious items again.

we highly recommend this place for their $19.50 quality fish and chips! we tried the nori and spicy versions but preferred the latter in terms of taste and the side. it’s not too spicy and definitely worth a try!

I was very surprised by the rendition of fish and chips from @fryingfishclub , as it is definitely one of the meatiest fish and chips I've had so far! The Signature Fish and Chips ($18.50) came with 2 thick strips of fish fillet, and they were beautifully fried till crispy golden brown. Though slightly thicker than usual, the batter was still light and crispy on the edges. The fish within was very meaty and flaky, with a natural fresh sweet flavour. Fries were splendid; crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside and seasoned well with salt and spices. The edamame was a good pairing! Definitely refreshing from the other fried ingredients. The Nori Fish and Chips ($19.50) was an interesting twist, with a somewhat thick batter seasoned with Nori and other spices. The seaweed taste is strong and actually complements the fish well, but I would have loved it more if the batter was not so thick! With a cozy bar like ambience, this is not bad of a place to consider to have a fun night with friends over drinks! Thank you @scalemicroinfluencers from inviting and @fryingfishclub for the food!

Really enjoyed their Japanese-style fish and chips - they have three flavours (original, nori and spicy). I tried the nori and spicy flavours. Even though I felt that the spicy one could be more spicy, I still enjoyed both flavours a lot as it has the right amount of crispiness and crunch on the outside and tenderness on the inside. Seasoning of the fish was done on point as well as it does not taste jelak or overly fried/oily. Worth a try!! Nice and cozy place to chill with friends as well

Fish was dry and somewhat mushy. Sides taste decent, better than the fish itself which is unfortunate. On the bright side, oysters were fresh and nice. Whiskey highball was meh.

A fresh new and !better! take on a usually basic comfort food: my new favorite fish and chips, especially the spicy version - highly recommended! (as well as the cauliflower starter and the craft beers too!)

I feel very lucky to know the owner of Frying Fish Club restaurant, so I could taste the new menu at the soft launch party. I like the Japanese blue and white design concept, I see that the #makewaves slogen is replicated on the walls by a beautiful art work design. Food: The hummus is tasty, the fried calamari and octopus is delicious. For my taste buds the fried cauliflower had a too much spices on it. The dip paired with it gave it a balance though. Fish and chips: fish is nicely done, and the coat is crispy. The sides are nice. The fries, chips were perfect very crunchy and good flavours. Cocktails are nice. Thank you for having me as one of the first guests. We will definitely return.

What grabbed my attention to try was how it promoted the pairing of beer and food. But was slightly disappointed that it was not done by the server. Ordered the pairing set and largely left to select my own. Set was very small on portions for all 3 dishes and 3 half pint for $45. What stood out was the egg plant. The fries was fantastic and we couldn't get enough of it. The beef bowl was great too. Overall decent and only way to improve is add a bit of value to the set and bigger portion considering price is quite expensive

A new taproom opens along the quiet Owen Road that caters to craft beer lovers. The Parlour Mirage is a shophouse space that features 12 rotating taps that range from an easy-to-drink to a sweet stout. The team in the kitchen dishing up Japanese- and #Mediterranean -inspired sharing plates to pair with the drinks. Start with the addictively crispy fried cheese. Yakitori is their key focus; skewers of salmon belly, quail eggs, and more comes glazed with an aromatic marinade. Expertly prepared over a charcoal grill, the edges of each skewer were nicely crisp with a distinct aroma of smoke and #barbecue . Every component, though similar in flavor profile, sported an intensely smoky characteristic, even charring and a layer of sticky-sweet tare brushed on that made eating each #skewer taste like candy. Another signature is rice bowls. We tried one that was topped with #unagi .

Crispy, delicious chips (my no.1 pick) perfectly complemented the flavorful fish, creating a classic and satisfying dish. I really liked the salad side too and hope the portion can be more generous. We're also very happy with the BBQ wings and the drinks. The decor is cute and nice, making it a highly recommended spot for days that we crave fish and chips!
