I dined here twice over two days and had an excellent meal each time. Menu is bilingual. One night featured two men playing the kaba gaida. Prices are extremely affordable, and the setting is just gorgeous. The folklore shop is mostly traditional clothing. Service is a little slow if you’re used to American standards. That’s fine. Slow down and enjoy the evening.

Note the hotel and restaurant is together. There was no problem with the hotel, everything worked fine and is a nice play to stay but.. The restaurant was the worst experience out of all the places Ive visited. Out of 7 people, one short black haired guy could only speak English and actually understand what non-bulgarians want. Avoid the lady with the blond hair at all cost. We went to sit in for the restaurant, there was a lot of empty places but the lady made us sit next to the front door. We asked for a Pizza which eventually took 40 minutes to make, then she said we can only pay cash. I told her we don’t have cash, she sent me to the hotel to ask the reception, there was no one speaking english so we had to understand each other by “sign language”. The guy at the reception eventually took me back to the restaurant to another lady who also couldn’t speak a single word of English, they called another guy who pulled his phone for translator but after 10 second he gave up writing in it. He took me back to the original blonde lady, WHO only then told me there is an ATM upstairs 3 minutes walk away. Needles to say ATM charged 14,5€ for 20 leva. I went back to pay, then I seen the lady was busy serving other guest. So I went to the “kassa” and tried to explain I just want to pay for the pizza. This was a short black haired guy who spoke English very well, and understood everything and then he asked told me “no problem, sorry for the inconvenience” “would you like to pay cash or card”. This was the moment where I was like nah this is a joke. Im asking all the other 6 workers there, what the *** are they doing in hospitality? Please put a sign up on the restaurant “We can’t communicate with tourists, and we also dont have the knowledge of payment methods here” Un *** believable

I’ve only visited the restaurant and I can’t see why it’s that overrated. We’ve waited 10 minutes for someone to notice us, we didn’t even have a menu and then we waited one full hour for french fries!

What a great restaurant! Food was delicious (sorry didn't take any photos, we devoured them as soon as they arrived). Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and the traditional Bulgarian folklore music was a nice touch. Definitely coming back!

Amazing atmosphere and presentation. Food was amazing,affordable and fresh. I did not try their rooms, but the restaurant is a must try in smolian for the best local food and experience.

Waiting more than 1 hour for the food to come and 30 minutes just to bring water. One waiter put the ribs on the empty table, where pigeon took a bite from it and waiter took it to the customer. To be fair, waiter didn't see the pigeon taking a bite, but leaving food like that when you have pigeons is not good at all😡

Well, not impressed with the service generally. Was given a table with the worst location (by the stairs with no view and very hot) when we were the first to go in claiming no others were available then giving a table to walk ins. Also, one of the meals was cold as it came before the rest. Could have been really nice

I have reviewed this restaurant elsewhere on recent visits. This visit was on a Saturday evening. It was busy so we sat in one of the outside areas. Well decorated and comfortable. The staff were very attentive. The food was again excellent. The live musicians were great and there was dancing and singing. I highly recommend this place. Just one note of a bit of a sharp practice by staff. The bill was around 67 leva. I handed a waitress the bill with 2 x 50 leva notes. She said 'thank you' and made no attempt to check it or give me change. (I had a 10% tip in my other hand). I asked for the change and she rather begrudgingly gave me a twenty, I looked at her, then she slowly gave me a ten seeing if I wanted to tip the ten or thirteen leva. I held my hand out and again was slowly given almost all my change. I passed over another note and thanked her. I will not tolerate this practice. In future I will pay the exact amount by card and tip what I want to tip, it what they think they can 'fleece' me for.

I am giving one star because I cannot give you 0 for the poorest service ever! My son and his two friends visited this place on the 29th of July, after their sport session. All three of them ordered pizzas each at 7pm. They kept waiting and asking the waiter when the food was going to be ready, were told only "coming"! The pizzas arrived at 10pm!!! Disgusting and disgraceful experience, you were lucky I was out of town that day otherwise I would have come and make a big scandal,not to mention you would not see a penny paid that day! Why did you think was ok to fully ignore three teenage boys and make them wait 3 hours for pizza and instead of apology and giving it for free you still took payment? Why did you think was ok to serve the new coming customers, but not these three boys, just because there was no adult with them? What kind of discrimination you practise? At the end, because it was already 10 pm and they needed to get home they took the pizzas take away. Absolute shambles of service, shame on you all, shame on the waiter that day who has zero attitude and care! Will never ever return and will make sure I tell as many people as possible!

Great place with distinctive atmosphere, the food was delicious, be careful when ordering because the portions are very big. I would suggest trying the different kinds of bread with spices, they are great. The desserts are very sweet, I enjoyed the cake one. One think that bothered me was the life music as it was too close to you while you are eating, but that's pretty personal.

Absolutely delicious food - real traditional Rhodopi cuisine. There’s live music, the interior is authentic and the staff is lovely! I cannot wait to come back soon. Make sure you order the home made lutenitsa you won’t regret it 🇧🇬

As we were only in the restaurant I can speak only about it. This is one of the best traditional Bulgarian restaurants I have been. (and I have been in to many, you can imagine) . The food was delicious, the service was perfect, the way they treat you, the visual way it looks like is sending you ba k in time. I totally recommend eating there if you visit city Smolian!

Most probably the best place in town! Tasty food, polite stuff. Definitely a place to return!

I love Bulgarian food and this was the first place where I was able to try a variety of different dishes. Food was very delicious, service is very good and served fast. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for foreign visitors.

The rooms are clean and very well appointed with all amenities. Our room had a large terrace with a view to the base of a bridge and the mountain. The restaurant had an excellent cook and the food was reasonably priced, but the service was slow. The parking was a bit challenging, as one needs to find a place in a very narrow street off the main street and there is a car repair business next to the hotel which generates traffic as well.

This restaurant is tucked away. its a beautiful traditional restaurant with good food and service. The friendly staff also speak English. I felt very welcome. I liked listening to traditional music while we had dinner. The portions are large and tasty. The traditional costumes were a delight to see. You can buy homemade jams also.
