A very long walk but quite nice for a morning stroll with nice weather. There are often people fishing along the sides of the pier, and at the end of the pier you get a nice wide open view of the horizon (probably would be quite nice during sunset!) The pier does get quite windy as there is nothing to block the coastal winds, but it’s not too bad. If you’re lucky, you’ll also see some wildlife - like little birds flying about or resting on the side of the pier, or fish in the ocean!

Great spot for a visit by yourself or with family /friends on the weekends. Windy and scenic. Make sure to visit for sunrise/set. A long pier walk with good photo opportunities too!

It's a long but a nice walk on the pier. Remember to wear sunscreen and protection for the sun because we got very sunburnt from only 40 minutes exposure here on a very cloudy day. Here the view is great. We even got to see a pelican up close!

The perfect spot for an evening walk to admire the sunset, or set yourself up along the side to fish. Whatever the reason, anyone in the area needs to walk along this pier at least once. It is quite a walk to the end and back so just keep that in mind.

Amazing jetty/pier! There are tables to clean and scale fish. Signs of squid ink on the pier are a good sign. Loads of small schooling mullet and whiting. Guys were onto some mackerel and flatties. There was a dead hammerhead shark (1.7m) about halfway down the jetty on the right so let fisheries know but such an amazing creature.

Such a lovely Pier. My partner and I walked all the way to the end and back and it's a decent walk. We took our time, stopped to take a few pics at the end and it just took us over 30 minutes to walk it. Sadly we did see some walkers struggle and saw only a couple of wooden seats closer to the end of the pier. To make it more accessable and compable to all walkers, I would really would love to see a bit more setting along the whole pier. Other than that the views are stunning along the whole pier.

Sunset walk along the beach by the Pier was lovely. We watched the lights come on as the sun set at low tide over the bay. After 3pm dogs are permitted off leach on the stretch of beach between the Pier and the aquarium. On our return walk to the Pier we saw the migrating fruit bats flying overhead to their nightly feeding area. This flyover continued for over 20 minutes hinting at the large population of fruit bats in the area but other than their passover we didn't see any roosting nearby. Their is a well patronized fish and chip shop at the Pier and a well keep public green space where markets are held. Lovely location for a walk.

Everyone has to walk the pier at least one. It's part of the history of Hervey Bay. But remember, it's a long walk and it can get very hot, so take water and a hat, and takes some breaks along the way. Great photo opportunity. And when you get back you can take a break at one of the cafes or ice cream shop. The markets are held twice a month and have some very good craft stalls and fresh fruit and veges. A great way to spend a couple of hours in a nice location. Great walk along the pier. Must do it on sunset to experience the full beauty of the place. Plenty of people fishing. Nice to see so many families and couples enjoying this experience. Make sure the kids use bathroom before you do the walk!

Worth a walk to the end. Lots of people fishing and it was incredibly windy. Seems well maintained and even has tables and taps for people to prepare the fish they catch. Plenty if shops and cafes nearby for refreshments.

Good pier with scenic views often with a lot of people fishing at each side and their are good views of Fraser Island. This pier was historically used for cargo transfer. It is great for sunset and morning walks and it is a short distance from the beach.

Very pretty place but couldn't actually walk along the pier as dogs are not allowed. Instead we went down to the beach next to the pier which was fantastic. Dogs allowed on lead all times and off leash at certain times. Could walk out pretty far as tide was low and while the pier was quite crowded, the beach was basically empty which allowed us to get some great shots of the pier from afar.

Saturday markets small but full of good stuff - fruit veggies fresh meat and fish and other stuff, live entertainment then take a long walk on the Pier - chat to local fisherfolk, enjoy the spectacular views, check out the pelicans doin' their stuff and it's safe at night...it's Australia mate!!

A lovely walk to the end of the pier is a treat. Many people fishing some quite successfully. Great views of Fraser Island. Beautiful blue skies most days. Stingrays and dolphins can be seen from the pier. Tide goes out a long way. Pelicans are a frequent visitor.

This is the get together spot for Urangan. People walking their dogs, taking the kiddies to play in the shade and the older people cathing up with their friends. Late afternoon, people have a bite to eat with loved ones. Awesome place.

It really is a sight to see. You can see the pier almost anywhere from the Esplanade. Great place to take kids and do some fishing. At the start of the pier there are some photos showing and explaining what the pier used to be.

Lovely walk along the pier. Great to do around sunset time. It can be very windy and a bit chilly in the evenings

  • 5/5 Erica 7 months ago on Google
It's a nice lengthy pier to walk down and back, watch some fishermen/women if they are catching much. Bit overcast when we went down, so got fairly windy further down it with the rain rolling in.

Nice little lunchtime stroll if you're in the area. Stingray's, sharks, and fisher-people all viewable from the pier, and the park it is attached to has all the basics you might need from a park

Good public parking next to it. Lovely 1.1km walk to the end. Can see crabs below and fisherman's galore. πŸ¦€ loved it

A great walk out over the ocean for 800mtrs. Meet locals fishing for whiting, watxh the sunset in the West, then the moon rise in the East. A great foreshore area also.

Had a brief visit to the pier while seeing a friend in Hervey Bay - nice views in the early evening, as the sun set and the moon was rising! Take a jacket, as the wind can be strong and chilly!

Wow, what a Pier. My wife and I walked it today and it's a good walk. We are not slow walkers yet it took us over 30 minutes, out and back. It's wonderful walking out to the end, you almost feel like it would take you to Fraser Island. And the sunset from on the pier is spectacular. If you get a chance, definitely visit and walk its length.

Urangan Pier is indeed one of the most impressive piers in Queensland! Its beauty and scenic views are truly captivating. While I don't have personal opinions, I can certainly understand why many people find it to be among the best. Its length, history, and the stunning vistas it offers make it a popular spot for both locals and tourists. Whether you're taking a leisurely stroll, fishing, or simply admiring the surrounding beauty, Urangan Pier is undoubtedly a must-visit destination in Queensland.
