I wouldn’t suggest this hospital for young inexperienced first time black moms. I’m 28 and I was told this was a decent hospital however I was given poor care by the staff here. It was one point for 3 months I wasn’t seen by my doctor and was only getting ultrasounds monthly. I didn’t know any better or know I was supposed to see a doctor and the ultra sound people. However once I found out I made an appointment and was seen that day. The down side to it I got a VERY nasty nurse who did the bare minimum and even had an attitude. I understand they say that some students practice and are involved but I don’t need anyone learning anything trying to help me. Especially when I’m not fully aware of what’s going on. Even now I’m in my 7th month I’ve yet to get a proper due date, measure or weigh my baby or 70% of what I’ve recently learned should’ve been done by now. I just pray it doesn’t affect my son in the long run. I would switch hospitals but it’s too late and when I tried the place I was going said they had to start everything from scratch and that’s just a huge inconvenience. So if it’s your first child and you don’t know what to expect please don’t come here. These people don’t care, they just wanna collect their check and go home. (I also hate to be this way however I witnessed with my own eyes how the attitude of a white Women changed versus helping me. Than when a white couple came up who was after me and it was a major difference.) I asked to speak with the BOA but they said that department didn’t have one. And only said I could talk to a women was was in charge of the shift. However that was unhelpful and nothing was fixed. I’m extremely disappointed in the care I’ve been getting and the lack of help my child has been receiving

The absurdity of COVID policies. They don’t even let me go with my wife to a biophysical profile that will determine if my baby is born now or we wait. Their answer: “you can be in the phone”. 2 years into the pandemic, with high vaccination rates, mask mandates in place, better treatments… this hospital continues this retrograde policy of not even allowing the father to be present in the prenatal care, not even THE most important appointment we have had so far. On top of that, all the information provided to us (messages, web) mentions that for complex medical decision making there can be one extra person… which of course didn’t matter to the person in the lobby, who by the way was super rude.

I would give it zero for being the worst hospital ever. I don’t understand how this place is even licensed to operate as a medical facility. I would definitely report it on every level. Thru out my stay, it was a never ending nightmare. The receptionists were very rude and unprofessional. The nurses and technicians were missing, mean, and careless. The doctors are just doing whatever they told to keep their high paying salaries. The administration is all about money and they cut every possible corner no wonder the hospital is very dirty and unorganised. I wouldn’t recommend Georgetown to even my worst enemy.

I have had the most horrific experience of my life in Georgetown hospital. My dad was admitted to Georgetown because he had a small breathing problem and it ended up being the worst decision of my life. My fathers life ended only 4 days after he was admitted for a breathing problem. They began a series of treatments which were cruel and inhumane. They didn't know which medicine they were giving him which made his health even worse. They gave him medicine that deteriorated his kidneys, made his lungs and liver worse and his life ended short. There are a lot of students that work there and they are there just to have fun and joke. They have no experience and were constantly practicing giving injections where they couldn't find the vein and they couldn't do any of the scan properly. Dr.Robin Lesa Gross and the Charge Nurse Abby were rude and did whatever they felt like doing. This hospital is constantly trying to make money and doing unnecessary treatments. I would rather die on the street than come to this hospital again.

Georgetown hospital is the worst nightmare that I have ever lived. I travel abroad for living and I have never seen a hospital operated like this one even in developing countries. It took 8hrs of wait time to get admitted then 2 days of being misdiagnosed. After additional 3 days they started my treatment then I was discharged after 2 days without completing it. I was told your insurance no longer covers your stay. It took additional 3 days after so many phone calls to send my prescription over to the pharmacy. At this point, I was almost dead and I had to check in into another local hospital. I wouldn’t recommend this hospital from hell to anyone who cares about their well being.

If I could give this hospital negative stars, I would. This is a third world hospital and worse. There is no coordination between the staff, nurses, and doctors. They don't know what the other one is doing. They are very slow and lazy getting anything done. There was ZERO communication with me and I had to call every day to get any update. They confused my uncle with another patient when they called me. Even the patient advocate never returned my calls. Do yourself and your loved ones a favor and do NOT come to this awful and dangerous hospital.

If I could give a million minus stars, I would. I’ve lived in many developing countries, I was always better treated or received better care than in this emergency room. People had seizures in front of me and other patients had to point out because nobody seemed to care. It’s unbelievable that this is a major private hospital in the capital of the richest country in the world!!!!! As stated in most comments here, I do not understand how this emergency room is allowed to operate!!

You don't get your own personal doctor, you are assigned a team. The rooms are so small it's ridiculous. I feel so claustrophobic. I feel like I'm not being heard. They transferred me here and I'm no where near home. Pushed to do things I'm not comfortable with , then when I comply they want me to do more with no better result. Guys, this was right b4 the opened up the new building. Again this is the old building right before the new building opened.

Avoid this hellish place and the entirety of the MedStar system at all costs. Do not use it for any reason, unless you have absolutely no other choice. I could not conceive of a more damnatory example of the institutionalized depravity of the for-profit American "healthcare" system, which by its nature has nothing to do with real healthcare (usually just the reverse). It will rob you blind at every turn. It will cancel appointments without your consent or even knowledge and will not notify you accordingly. Most of the doctors and staff are extraordinarily rude, impatient, heedless, and inept and could not care less about your well-being. They will excoriate you if you so much as point out their endless fumbling. Never taking responsibility for themselves and completely inverting the proper relationship between patient and provider, they will always loftily blame you for their faults. When you call any number associated with MedStar, you will invariably be directed to the wrong departments and individuals and placed on hold for an eternity, over and over again. You will likely become sicker (and insaner) than you were before by the end of it. Pay no mind to the perfunctory pseudo-compassionate automated replies that the negative reviews here generate. They will lead to no redress or reform whatsoever. As far as MedStar is concerned, you can whistle for it, while their executives and shareholders whistle their way to the bank.

Comparing my visit to this ER with other hospitals in the area, this is the worst one yet. I was accompanying a sick family member to the ER when I began to have a severe panic attack. I was thus admitted for psychiatric care. I was fortunate enough to be admitted right away alongside my family member (we did arrive via EMS so I'm sure that had something to do with it). My nurse, I believe her name was McKayla, was the only positive during my stay. She was so kind, hardworking, and somehow managed to be attentive to my needs despite being very busy. Unfortunately the doctor did not come see me once, nor was I given any psychiatric assistance. In fact, my discharge documents showed alcohol intoxication as my reason for admittance. I wasn't aware that having a couple drinks earlier in the evening would cause them to assume I'm drunk. God forbid you have any mental illnesses- they apparently don't exist in this hospital. All they did was take my vitals twice over the course of about 3 hours and then I was discharged. Can't wait to get this bill in the mail! I spent a lot of time in the waiting room and I was extremely shocked at how the staff ignored patients. Women were moaning in pain and vomiting, but the nurses and techs didn't bat an eye. They casually conversed with each other and didn't seem in much of a rush to help anyone. I've never worked in a hospital so I am not aware of the nuances or how an ER operates, but this definitely did not feel right. I would suggest going to a different hospital if at all possible.

On 9/3/22 - Arrived at emergency room at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and my relative was not admitted to a room until 7:00 a.m. 15 hours!!!!!!! Sunday, September 4. The decision to admit was not made until approximately 4:00/4:30 a.m.! Although the staff (nurses and techs) in emergency room were nice and so were the doctors, when you finally saw one, the hospital really needs to increase the number of doctors (not medical students) working in the emergency room. It should be well staffed with doctors, even on holidays. It is supposed to be an emergency room and obviously people do not plan to be sick and need emergency services, so staff with the appropriate number of doctors (not just medical students). Having only two supervising physicians working in a busy emergency room in a hospital in a major city is totally unacceptable. We are in the United States, not a third world country. Kudos to one of the supervising doctors for taking the time to explain the situation - especially since they too are frustrated with the system. Granted, I understand that there are some challenges with staffing in the medical field, but this was ridiculous. And I hope the new hospital emergency room offers a at least full curtains that encircle the entire bed. It was sad to see only a small free-standing three-section metal folding frame w/plastic curtain panels/inserts, divider on the floor between the two beds on one side of the hanging curtain that divided the large quad room down the middle. Again, the doctors, nurses and techs were all very nice and working hard. However, they must get enough doctors on hand to provide emergency room coverage.

Zero management of Medstar Georgetown Emergency room. The staff have no control over the ER waiting. No standard of behavior are enforced, no cleanliness standards are maintained, and the waiting time for treatment are outrageous. The general void of professionalism from nurses, techs, and admin staff are ridiculous. Save yourself the headache and don’t come here.

DO. NOT. COME. TO. THIS. HOSPITAL. I rarely ever write reviews, but my experience at this hospital was so poor that I have to write this review to encourage people not to come here. My girlfriend is chronically ill and we arrived at the emergency room for a severe kidney infection. The ER, surprisingly, was the most positive experience we had here. She was admitted and that is when everything went downhill. She has been admitted for two days now, and they still have no idea what is causing this infection. They are sending her home today and we were told, verbatim, “we do not know what is causing this and you won’t get the full picture here.” Are you serious? Is that not the point of the hospital? Additionally, my girlfriend’s tolerance for pain medication is higher than most, given her battle with chronic pain. They have asserted many times that “a kidney infection should not cause this much pain and require this much medication.” We provided the contact of her pain management specialist to verify her pain medication regime and they still have yet to call. They are discharging her today, not sending her home with any medications to manage her pain, all while still trying to figure out what’s going on (still waiting for final CULTURE results and they are still wanting to send her home). I am utterly disgusted with the treatment we received here and I cannot wait to leave this place!

Horrific experience after waiting for over 12 hours I was never seen. A dr came from the back and addressed all people in the waiting room rudely as we were children trying to explain what and why was going on. Terrible, rude and inefficient night and late night shift.

Georgetown Medstar Hospital doesn’t deserve one star. My uncle, who is 74 years old entered the emergency room with his walker, and reported that he was having problems breathing. He was checked in, and was told to have a seat. My uncle sat for nine hours. During this time no one came to check on him, nor did anyone even provide an update about the wait time. I am no doctor, but it seems to me that if an elderly person comes in and states the they are having trouble breathing it’s a priority!!! As of this date we are ending all business with Georgetown Hospital. My family will be moving forward with a formal complaint. Do not patronize Georgetown Hospital!!!!

Their Patient Advocacy should be called Doctor/Hospital Advocacy. Every issue is put back onto the patient just like others have stated in their reviews. The Doctors, Hospital and Patient Advocacy take no responsibility for any of their serious problems or issues. The Head and Neck Radiation Oncology team, is one single doctor and a nurse who are completely overwhelmed by their job and have zero compassion for their cancer patients. They constantly miss appointments and are unavailable via patient portal, phone or email. You have to jump through hoops to get appropriate medications and treatments. God forbid you ask any questions about your treatments....the conversation will be shut down immediately with an arrogance and intolerance I've never experienced from a doctor before. This review doesn't have the bandwidth for me to write all the mistakes and misinformation I was subjected to. I finished my radiation treatments a couple days early just to switch to Johns Hopkins. Best decision I've ever made.

I enjoyed my Doctor and the medical student. They were great and able to deliver the news with a great demeanor. Their bed side manner was commendable considering my defense mechanism is to make jokes. I went for a second opinion and I think I preferred this doctor. She was so kind and had a great attitude. Side note: come early for parking as there was a line. However, the valet parking is very affordable. It was $7 and it’s the only option. But, I think it was better because then you can just focus on finding your doctor’s office instead of both that and parking.

The nurses who cared for me were just wonderful. They were caring and personable. The room was clean and well kept. The doctors came around to see me and answered any questions I had. But there were still a few times we felt we were not being told everything. My 2-3 day stay became a 5 day stay. Food left a lot to be desired. They ask you what you want but that’s not what you get. In 4 days I only had the correct meal twice. And most of the times the hot food was already cold and the cold was at room temperature. I ordered a late nite cheeseburger one night at 7pm and never received it.

$1,800 surprise bill for lab work I did not want or need. They are still hammering me for cash though my insurance confirmed this hospital did not even try to bill them. Labyrinthine phone menus + voicemails, inconsistent contact for dealing with it. Organization seems like it's mostly designed to cause distress in its patients. Had to get my insurance information to send my (incorrect) prescription to my pharmacy. I've given them new information 4 or 5 times after switching insurance twice.

This is the absolute horror story of a hospital, especially the emergency room. I have never waited this long (16+ hours) to be seen by a rude and inattentive ER doctor and nurses, never in my life not even in developing countries. The staff is very rude, unprofessional, condescending, and racist!!! They do discriminate against patients based on their skin color and economic status. If you are a patient of color the wait time is much much longer and you'll be treated differently, disrespectfully, and horribly. I have seen...experienced it. And when you leave they'll send you tens of thousands worth of bills just for staying there for a couple of days with no major procedure just a few basic tests, a few generic medications, and sub-standard physician and nurses' service. Please don't their comment under your review fool you. They don't care! Avoid this place at all costs and you will thank me later.

I want to speak to whoever run the whole hospital. The doctor emailed my mother through the patient portal and around 7:30am this morning through the portal the doctor contacted my mother to make her aware that her number was no longer in the system. This is a form of neglect and harassment. June of 2022 my mother almost died because they refused her care so much so that she needed 4 blood transfusions. This is beyond a lawsuit like seriously! It’s incompetency and unethical practice and it’s seems to be a norm for her as an African American women. How can you explain calling security to escort vs her being transported properly and safely out the hospital after a major surgery? It’s traumatizing and unfair and causing distress on her as she’s trying to heal as well her children. I’m just trying to understand why security was called to escort her out the building after surgery as if she was a threat or something needless to say why wasn’t she transported in a wheel chair and why was security told that they wanted her off the property ??? That’s unfair treatment and anything could have happened! I need to speak directly to whoever run the hospital at this point.

If you are looking for a doctor that respects you as a patient and is not dismissive of your needs and concerns, then don't schedule an appointment to see Dr. Sarah E. Mudra. She is condescending towards her patients, arrogant, rude, argumentative and unprofessional. She works against her patients and recommends services that are not supportive of her patients needs. Therefore, she is very insensitive to her patients concerns. In fact, her managerial team supports this behavior and will ignore your concerns and request as a patient and they will not hold her accountable for her misconduct or negligence. Additionally, if you request specific services or referrals to effectively address your conditions, she will refuse to accommodate you and in turn dictate to you what she wants. She has no respect for families of the patients as well. Furthermore, this 1st yr resident physician does not put her patients first or recognize that without patients her ability to practice medicine is a No Go.

Georgetown Hospital and clinic has done a great upgrade to service. The employees are always friendly and helpful. The new appointment system is wonderful if your appointment is at 1:00 you will be seen at 1:00. The only problem is maneuvering through the new section of the clinic. The directions are not very clear; but overall it’s a great change to the way patients are being treated.

I had no problems getting an appointment here, but the care I received was subpar to say the least. The doctor I met with in the department of gastroenterology, Dr. John E. Carroll, was incredibly dismissive of my issues and recommended a course of care worse than what I received after googling my symptoms. This happened despite the fact that I was referred by my primary care physician and despite the fact that initial tests had already been performed by my PCP to rule out certain ailments. Dr. Carroll was dismissive of my symptoms and the detailed information I was able to provide from my PCP. He was also dismissive of my medical history. He seemed to not believe that I was being truthful about my medical history at all! In all my life, I have never felt less seen, heard or understood in a medical setting. I don't wish that feeling on my worst enemy. I can understand a doctor being overworked, especially given the stress of the pandemic. I can also understand not wanting to alarm a patient. However, the least a doctor can do is take the time to listen and understand what a patient is going through. Thankfully, given my medical history and my symptoms, it took no time for another, more caring doctor at GW Hospital to diagnose me, examine me, and set me on a course for improvement. I sincerely hope others do not experience what I have experienced with Dr. Carroll or any other care provider. It is not ok.

Extremely horrible experience with my father who stayed alone due to their ridiculous COVID policies. Plz don’t come to his hospital. It’s my mom and I first and last time time ever coming to this Hospital. My mother and I have been waiting for 7 hours so far and counting. She hasn’t been offered anything to take for the severe headache that is bothering her. Also it feels as though you have to be dying for the hospital to actually care about you. I have seen countless patients come back and forth from getting the needle in their arm for an I’ve but yet aren’t hooked onto it. This hospital is the worst I have ever been too. I should have just gone to George Washington University were they actually care about their patients and can handle their patients in an orderly manner.

First of all, the nursing staff (at least on my 7 BLES floor) get 5 Stars. I was in surgical recovery for over a week, and every single nurse and tech I had were just fantastic. They are carrying this hospital on their backs. My experience otherwise wasn’t great. The surgical residents gave me conflicting plans of care every day. I don’t know who made the decisions on my diet, but I’m convinced they caused a lot of my suffering. I was put on solid foods immediately after having abdominal / intestinal surgery. Not only solid foods, but ones that were extremely potent and hard to digest. As a result, I became so sick and endured so much pain, prolonging and complicating my recovery. In the end, I lost trust in the people making decisions for me. Finally, the discharge process was an unorganized mess. I was told in the morning I would be discharged that day, and yet I was still in my room at 8 PM waiting for everyone to do their part in getting me out. I was told this hospital was world class. I have no idea why. My surgeon himself has been great and is very skilled. But there is SO much in just my experience that Georgetown really needs fix.

I use to love this hospital. But now I don’t. I came here to the ER for my swollen knee the other day. I was sitting in the waiting room for 2 hours then brought to the back. It was cold. Everyone was offered a blanket but me. I was placed on the bed in the hallway with no blanket. The nurse who placed me there stated there was a nurse who will be with me shortly. 1.5 hours past and not one nurse came. I ended up walking out to go to another hospital. I now won’t come to this hospital. Thanks Georgetown. This was where my health history was at. But now you have staff who is terrible.

I was there tonight from 5pm till 9:30 pm. Very slow very unorganized and the nurse that was a guy with blue eyes was rude. They called me after 3.5 hours and dr only check my situation for less than 5 minutes then again they said you need to wait for around half an hour to write your prescription. That was horrible. I will never go there again. I have headache now plus my issues that I had before going there.

So far, outside of the Docs, our experience at G'town hospital sucks. My partner had surgery yesterday. Prior to surgery, when she was admitted on Monday, they put her in a converted closet, with no ventilation, and no bathroom. She finally got a private room on Monday night. Since her surgery yesterday, the nurses on her floor, save one, have been generally non-responsive to her needs, including forgetting to feed her, and consistently ignoring her call button. Today, she needed help and no one showed up for almost 1.5 hours. No compassion, lots of attitude. I've been around medicine most of life, and have never seen such a blatant disregard for patients as I have the last 3 days.

Can’t go below one star I will never recommend to come here. I will never recommend you. I will never come here but I’m being forced to come because my doctor is working at this hospital. My first time I came here I stayed for three hours and the nurses in the front they enter, whoever do they want. This is the second time I have been at this ER for four hours, and still not able to see a doctor. I’m suffering from pancreatitis which is the highest pain you can get. I have been suffering here and I see people they have conversation and go in in front of me I’m 100% I believe whatever going on is fishy. If really do care about the patients go and spend sometime at the ER and witness how they humiliated the people

I came by ambulance couldn't breath see people going in the back with less of illness. Because I complained they put me in back. When I got to 5 Bless they put me in the back where no window. I was told by head nurse they put me back there deliberately because the way i acted in ER. I was treated badly. Hate this place 5 bless heard was the worse. Nurse not at fault for some things short staff. But the Kept hanging up on be at the desk had to call security to come to get them to come in the room. It's not like third floor where I had knee replacement and revision. They are sweethearts up there. Even had hysterectomy there they were the best. This not the Georgetown I know and love. Get rid if that head nurse on day shift 5 bless. She rude mean nasty. Lisa front desk nasty kept hanging up. Hate them. If I hope not have no choice to come back there I don't want to go to that floor.

Dr. Margolis was the thoracic surgeon that performed surgery for my stage 1 lung cancer almost 5 years ago. I knew from the beginning that I was in good hands. He is an outstanding surgeon and the very best in his field. Over the years, he always been professional and caring. He explains everything in detail and doesn’t mind answering my many questions. His Physician Assistant, Maggie, is a true gem as well. I highly recommend Dr. Margolis for any type of lung cancer surgery. I was very lucky to be under his care all these years.

During a recent visit at Georgetown University Hospital, whenever a blood test is required or an IV is needed, finding my veins have always been challenging. However, during my last CT scan, I young nurse was diligent about locating a good vein. She was also very kind, which was helpful in keeping me from becoming tense. She was truly skilled at what she was doing.

I would give them 0 stars if the option was available. The Georgetown ER at the new Vestandig Pavilion is garbage. I bought my mother in for a bowel obstruction and we waited for 12 hours. The only thing they could manage was triage, that’s right blood pressure, HR and temperature. My mother is 84 years old with multiple health concerns. When we asked how much longer the response was that they would see her eventually. The ER staff was apathetic, they could care less. I’ve been a patient at Georgetown for years and have always praised them for their care concern. Today, 9-10Feb24 was by far the worst experience I’ve had at any hospital. We arrived 6:45pm 9Feb24 and left 7:00am10Feb24 not receiving any care. We are on our way to a MedStar Urgent Care facility with the hopes of being seen. I will be reporting this to my insurance company as we should not be charged and they should not be paid for nothing.

Had same day surgery at MedStar Georgetown. The treatment by staff that I received in post-op was undeniably the worst "care" I have ever experienced! Left in my own feces! Somewhere during surgery and post-op, I lost one of the hospital-provided socks so the nurse put one of my own socks on so I could go to the restroom. Nurse NEVER offered to help me clean up; I had to ask for something, keep in mind I was just emerging from ansethesia and they have given me a narcotic for pain. Once I got home, my husband cleaned me. I found 6 electrodes still attached. I called to file a complaint per the information I was provided and when I explained what had happened, the person at the other end chuckled and said "I'll pass that information along." Laughing/chuckling at someone's experience is NOT a way to treat people. What ever happened to CARE? I will NEVER return to this hospital for anything!

Came with my wife to receive care at around 6 pm and it's 11:30 pm and she's yet to be seen at the emergency room. The speed and lack of care is clear, it seems like the place and staff allow for the place to fill up without attending to people. We will most likely skip this ER in the future if possible given the lack of attention. The staff in the front desk seemed resigned to provide this type of delayed service, management truly needs to address these challenges and provide better health care service to its clients. Even her doctor called to try to speed up attention but that did not seem to help. If you are having an emergency, look at different options if you can.

I recently had Microvascular Decompression here. I usually do not write reviews but I felt compelled to because I felt like this needed to go out to anyone heading into surgery at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. I would 100% have surgery here again. Although the waiting room was a bit...in need of an update and the ladies at the waiting/intake area could use some more happiness in their life, once I was called back I was pleasantly surprised with how well I was taken care of. I was prepped by kind nurses who kept me calm and comforted me during the nervous cries. The anesthesiologists visited me and each took the time to introduce themselves and get to know be a little bit. When I woke up from surgery I had zero nausea and no side effects for the anesthesia. EACH AND EVERY NURSE (all 4) was wonderful. They were kind, caring, warm, and just lovely to have. I kept telling my husband how amazed I was at my care. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I know some of the reviews here at not good, but maybe those people are just grumpy! Because my care was great and I am so thankful!!

Our recent Labor and Delivery experience here exceeded all of our expectations. The rooms are big, clean and comfortable. But most importantly, the nurses and doctors were absolutely phenomenal in every way. Because of personal medical issues we were forced to make tough decisions that deviated from our birth plan. But the staff's kindness, compassion and communication gave us the confidence we desperately needed to overcome setbacks and have an extremely positive experience. We are eminently grateful and don’t have a single bad word to say about our experience here. They were our guardian angles when we needed them most. I wish the same experience for all of you looking for a place to bring your baby into the world. We have no doubt that the treatment we received here extends to every single patient in their care.

This experience was absolutely traumatic for my 3 year old son and I who came for a sedated ABR on 6/14. The doctors/nurses poked him more than 15 times with a needle in search of his veins.. Hurting my son terribly. I had to end treatment and not continue because of this so he was not able to have his procedure. I didn’t trust them to continue after what I witnessed. I do not plan on coming back to the center at all. If I could give zero stars, I would.

Renee quickly taking my vitals and prepping for doctors visit. And Abby and Dr Reilly excellent visit. First class and highest rating!

I am never coming back to this stupid hospital again!!!! They truly do NOT CARE IF YOUR IN PAIN OR NOT IVE ASKED MULTIPLE NURSES WHEN WILL I BE SEEN BC THIS IS REDICULOUS!! They all gave the same answer saying we don’t know!!!!

Not sure what is going on but this ER is changing for the worst. My first two encounters were wonderful, I felt like my concerns were answered and I was comfortable. Yesterday I arrived with stomach issues and, long story short, was given a CT scan and bloodwork and then sent away without genuine answers. I still feel awful a day later. There are also way more beds now in the ER, which shows me MedStar is only concerned with money. The floors were filthy and the bedding had a stain!

Went in stating that I was possibly having a miscarriage...sat in ER and still received no help. I was having trouble staying conscious. I finally had the last straw and left after an older man came in via ambulance and he instantly went ahead of me because he had a small cut on his head...now mind you he was elderly but he never blacked out from his fall. He fell because Paramedics said he was drunk. So apparently a drunk man's life is more important than my unborn child.

My experiences at Medstar have been very good so I keep coming back. The staff are efficient, the providers are knowledgeable and skilled. An outstanding patient-centered system where the doctors listen to your concerns and take their time to answer questions. I trust them to keep me healthy. A few parking options: hospital garage, paid street parking (up to 4 hours), and free street parking (2-hour max and about a 7 min walk). Highly recommend these professionals!

(edit: it took 9 hours to see a doctor. Got there at 8pm left at 6am.) told it would be a 3 hour wait. Told we could not leave for 2 hours and come back. Had better service at an Outback Steakhouse. At least Outback gives you a buzzer for when it’s your turn….

I had surgery and recovery in late August 2022. My experience was excellent. They were ready and even early , which was great,. They net me at the front and wheeled me to the pre op. My info was prepared and accurate. I am in a wheelchair and everyone was gentle, encouraging, and knowledgeable. All in the surgery group so emphatic of my nerves and slight fear. The nurses and anesthesia staff were up beat, funny but explained all that was going to happen. The surgery it itself went without hitch. The recovery room suite and nusew6 were equally knowledgeable , understanding., and did their best to keep me comfortable. The only concern was it took quite a bit time until a room was available. The nurses and other staff went out of the way to to keep me comfortable while I waited. The room they put me in when went upstairs was beautiful. I was in a private room . The bed was great. All the techs and nurses were attentive and sweet.. even the food was good!!. The whole experience was the best I have in my frequent times in various inpatient facilities. I hope every person involved hear my thanks. Allison

The guy nurse with the “blue eyes” didn’t even let me finish my question before he cut me off i simply asked how long the wait will … he responded “idk ma’am idk” with an attitude everyone in this department needs to be retrained/and or fired! worst experience ever!! I just had surgery and im bleeding out in the waiting room this is insane been waiting for more than 4 hours and have yet to be seen. haven’t even got my vitals done! this is unacceptable!!!!

We had to take my Dad to er and drove to Medstar. I have to say it has been the best care and attention he has received of the several hospitals we have been to. Eddie greeted us when we walked in and consistently went above and beyond the 2 days we have been in here so far. Dr Parker and all of the other Dr's were very patient, thorough and explained in detail what was going on and what to expect. So far, I am very pleased with my Dad's care.

Went into the ER on Sunday night 9/10/23. The intake and staff were prompt. That’s were things began and ended however. 3 hours later my aunt who I escorted to the ER doubled over in pain still had not been seen. There were other patients who had been in the waiting room with us hours before we had gotten there. During our wait only 3 patients were called from the waiting room to be seen. At one point the ambulance came in with a patient who had her 2 children with her. She was accessed and put in a wheelchair to wait with us. My heart broke when she opted to get an Uber and go home versus continuing to wait additional hours to be seen by medical professionals. After the 3-4th person walked out exhausted from waiting and realizing that we still had about 3-4 persons still ahead of us to be seen we also left. My aunt went to another ER the following day and was accessed with an infection and a host of kidney related issues.

I meet the Radiology team for my procedure. Dr Amber and his team were very dedicated in serving him and the patient. Dr. Amber would greet you with care, answers, and comfort before proceeding. He left room open for any questions I had for understanding the procedure, he’s very precise in his medicine and always uses an overhead projector of the area(s) he’s serving for ur bodily need. I applaud his medical work ethics and him! so far, I’m still in healing, but I know I was in good hands. Thanks!!!

Not being sure what traffic would be like, We ended up being an hour early for an MRI appointment. Everyone was so nice and accommodating and they even ended up taking us early so we didn't have a long wait. All of the staff throughout the hospital are very nice and helpful. We have been there several times and it's always a good experience. Most importantly, the level of care is excellent!

If you have an emergency PLEASE DO NOT GO TO THE ER HERE! They say they base patient care on acute pain when we came here and the pain level was a 10. We waited for 6 hours and were not seen. I really hate to say this but it seems like people were brought back based on RACE. There were ppl walking in normally getting in it out. Let’s just say the people left waiting in the waiting room WERE BLACK.

Personnel are Always professional and courteous. I trust the Doctors I encounter. I had breast cancerin 2012 went through lumpectomy, radiation and closely followed by my oncologist for more than 8 years. I have a friend whose 12 year old daughter who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer at Childrens hospital. They took my advice and came to this hospital for a second opinion. They decided to continue her treatment at Georgetown Univ Hospital because of their communication, explanations and atmosphere with the child and parents. The child is happier, understands what is going on with her body and has been able to return to school.

My wife had a 2 day surgery and will be staying in the hospital for a couple more days for recovery. The surgery center staff and her floor nurses were amazing, informative, and understanding. My issue is the hospitals ridiculous visitor policy of 11-7 and the front desk clerk that ran down the hall to stop me after 16 other workers said I’m good. On the first day we showed up at 8 for the survey and I wasn’t able to see her in her room until 6:45pm as that’s when the surgery/recovery wrapped up. I got a solid 15 minutes with her before having to leave. Next morning I wasn’t able to see her until 11am and they wheeled her out for surgery at 11:30. I grabbed some food at the chic-fil-a and sat outside at the picnic tables(didn’t have any to sit in over crowded waiting area for 6 hrs) near the surgery center. When the surgery wrapped up and they informed me she was heading back to the room, I was denied entrance by the front desk saying it’s their policy to not let guest leave and come back. I never left the campus and and was literally sitting where the whole staff goes outside for lunch, but had to go to the main entrance to get back in the building. I guess I could have just sat in her room alone for 6 hours but I didn’t think there is a lack of common sense in a facility where we were forced to visit because this is the only hospital her doctor preforms surgery in. Also traffic around the hospital and parking is a mess. But it’s cool because you have to pay for that excellent service.

I had only positive things to say about this facility before MedStar took over. The level of smug incompetence from administrative and billing staff is beyond belief. Not disclose too much SPII, but I had a preventative exam and was then contacted to inform me that I needed more studies. I could not get anyone to tell me or my physician who ordered the original exam why I needed to come back. As a person with my own and family cancer history, I spent a week trying to get some explanation. So I follow up with the diagnostic studies shortly thereafter. MedStar bills my insurance for the follow up as preventative. My insurance does not pay and I follow up with them and they explain MedStar needs to resubmit as diagnostic. I call and explain this to a MedStar person. I get another bill and go through the same process, giving them the date upon which I spoke and what they needed to do. It was not done. MedStar expects me to pay almost $1000 for my portion when it is due to their lack of competence and responsiveness that it was never billed correctly! Absolutely unacceptable. I will say that I have always liked the specialists, radiologists and techs, plus I have years of data re: my health condition there, but stress affects health and I need to obtain healthcare from an administratively competent institution which GUH is NOT! Lest you think I am an outlier, I have spoken to several friends who have had other problems in other departments since the reign of MedStar began.

I recently had a major surgery on 6-19-2023 but this review is about TWO disrespectful and rude nurses I had during my hospital stay. After I was assigned to a room, I had a nurse by the name of Akunna. Akunna was unresponsive to my needs. I informed Akunna that my pain levels were not managed, I was literally crying and kept telling her that I was in a great deal of pain. She told me that she would inform my surgeon about it. Time went on and at the end of her shift was when I saw her again, I asked her if she talked to my surgeon and she lied to me and said that my surgeon told her that it was nothing he could do about it, but behold guess who came to my room after that? My surgeon, I asked him about it and he informed me that he never spoke with her! He did adjust my meds. The second nurse I was assigned to I can't remember her name but she was the reason why I left. I called and left two voicemails for patient advocacy but never got a call back! I need to speak to someone about this because it's too much for a review about this second nurse

Dr Voss in the emergency room was very inattentive. I came in the er at 11am as of 1130pm I am still sitting here trying to figure out what's wrong since Dr Lia left and told me Voss was supposed to be da doctor but I never seen or talk to her. It's very frustrating when they just keep sending you down for test and the so called doctor don't even explain or send a nurse to explain what's going on. Who tells someone they have elevated heart levels and just never come back bed side manners really need to be taught to the employees especially Dr Voss!!

Had surgery here and the nurse Crescent (like the moon) consoled me I was crying because I was scared and she made sure that I was ok and told me it’s ok to be scared. Crescent if you see this I just want you to know that I really do appreciate you, your patience and kindness 🤍 Honestly all my nurses were on point and everyone introduced them selves when coming into my pre op space even the med students were kind . Overall if you need to have surgery I highly recommend Med Star Georgetown they have a wonderful care team!

I’ve been a patient for over 10 years and seen doctors in multiple departments Phenomenal staff and great care. However, they are going to lose me because of an error in the billing system. That’s why I’m withholding the two stars. It hurts like hell because I’ve got strong relationships with my physicians. The billing staff is also phenomenally professional and kind. They admit the error is on their end. Nobody can seem to fix it. I can’t even get tests done all the time. My insurance company and the people my company contracts with for benefits have provided documentation of my coverage. None of them seem to understand the problem. I have no problem getting tests done at other places. If by chance this issue can get resolved I’ll gladly delete or amend my review. Hopefully, I’m just an isolated case.

The bad reviews are legit. You wait the same time as valet parking if you self park, and if you self park you don’t get validation as you pay in front. So the parking waiting line is stupidly long: i waited 30mins on a Thursday morning at 11:15. Of course missed my appointment at 11:30 and have to wait another hour to see the specialist. PS, an hour after I parked and an accident happened in the garage, hitting 6 of which one 68 yr old woman died. They were standing at the valet pickup spot when a woman driver made a mistake trying to u turn in that tight space and accelerated towards the wall.

This place is a disgusting disgrace…they fired my son days before his son was born just because his boss (called Shereen Soughier) had a personal issue with him. I used to get my cancer treatment at a Medstar facility but after this incident, I decided to go somewhere else. Don’t come here, this place lacks humanity and basic values. If they didn’t care about my son who was an exceptional employee for over 3 years; they’d definitely won’t care about you as a patient.

For being an honorable and prestigious University, the hospital equipment is stuck in the 90s. Nothing works in the recovery rooms, my mother had no way of calling the staff since nothing worked in the room. They didn’t know when she was supposed to take her medication. Horrible experience for such a nice university.

Reviewed meds & allergies, had vitals done by nice nurse & submitted test results. My travel time was 1 1/2 hr to appointment via Metro Train & M.G.U.H's Dupont Circle shuttle bus along w/ accessing on campus shuttle buses to hospital & other areas of university. Upon entering hospital checked in by staff member or security officer. I arrived 10 minutes early & had maybe about a 5 minutes wait time if that.

If I could rate this Hospital a zero I would. On August 15, 2023 I attended a hiring event in which I was sent a link to the hiring event via my email. Due to previously, applying for the Unit Supply Chain position. According to the j hiring event email, there was suppose to be on the spot hiring which was not the case, and I am guessing the recruiter is suppose to inform you if you were selected or not, when conducting on the spot interview. While attending the event I notice me and another individual were the only professionally dressed; which was highly alarming to me, I even brought printed out resumes according to the email event. I was able to conduct the interview, regarding the Unit Supply Chain position. During this time, the recruiter was semi - rude and was very shocked that I brought a resume; I even had to ask her what happens next after the interview; expecting to be told if I was hired or not. The Recruiter stated that I would be notify if an application was filled out online; which was confusing to me since. The email within the on the on spot stated; the reason why I was sent this email was due to filling out the application online. It has been approximately two weeks and I have not received a call back or anything. I really someone would have informed me earlier, just by luck that the hiring event would be a waste of time. I wasted Lyft money to go to this event. I even applied for two other positions online, that they was hosted at the hiring event; and was told I couldn't do the interview due to the time; which was 12:30p.m.- and the hiring event ends at 1:00p.m.. I understood that it may have been pushed for time, but I still feel I could have done a second interview for thirty minutes; so to me that was still not excusable. Prior to the interview and just within this week frame, I applied to other positions online amounting up to anywhere between 24 - 40 applications. I was sent an email so fast stating and automatic message, either I didn't qualify or thousands of applicant applied to the position; which I feel is a clever way to avoid potential candidates from asking why they weren't selected. I can admit there were some positions I knew would be a toss up since I didn't meet some qualifications; but there were positions I recently applied; like the Stocker position which I do have experience in, and according to the qualifications you need 0 - 6 months experience. I remember the recruiter frowning observing my resume asking "' What is a Stock Associate."; completely clueless. In away I feel things happen for a reason; from the experience I had just for applying to this Hospital and seeing this Hospital for the first time was horrible experience; I applied for positions at this location due to want to gain an extra income. I have experience working with vulnerable issues who have minor to severe mental and health issues. I have been natural drawn to this line of work, I will never apply to not one single position ever again; I only wanted to share my experience.

Great hospital, great staff, great nurses, and the best doctors. Just one problem I’d like to point out though… There about 100 handicapped parking spaces that are blocked off in your parking garage and you basically have to yell and politely demand a parking spot even when you are severely disabled and especially a disabled veteran. The terrible parking staff (non Americans) are obviously not competent enough with English and don’t understand what the meaning of being handicapped is in the United States. It is a federal law that handicapped spots must be accommodated to handicapped persons with valid handicapped hang tags or plates and possible lawsuit pending if you DO NOT properly train your staff and allow handicapped individuals to park in the handicapped spaces (that you have blocked off) for some absurd and unknown reason even when they have to wave and flash a legal handicapped handing tag. It is absurd and illegal. You had better very quickly train your staff that they must allow handicapped persons with a valid hangtag to park in the handicapped spots that you block off. I will sue you if I encounter the same problem again the next time I go there and have to take my toddler and newborn and have an issue. My attorney has already been notified of this issue.

So far, my cancer care team has been wonderful. The medical staff has a well- deserved, excellent reputation for professional, and quality care.  However, it's Georgetown University Hospital. And anyone who's lived in DC long enough knows that this is a place to avoid. Not because it's a hospital, but because it's a transportation tragedy.  Ever wonder what and where the Seventh Circle of Hell is?  Wonder no more! It's at Georgetown University Hospital, starting at the entrance at Reservoir Road.  The traffic circle that sits amidst a mish-mash of buildings crammed together like the dystopian set of Blade Runner is something out of Transportation Secretary, Pete Buttiegied's, worst traffic nightmares.  It's a constant stream of car, SUV, and minivan traffic circling thru without any apparent destination.  When one clearly desperate driver attempted to stop in the circle to drop off her elderly, and clearly incapacitated passenger, the security guard went ballistic and yelled, "Do NOT stop in this circle to drop him off!  You are NOT dropping anyone off in this circle!". She started yelling back at the guard.  Then the guard stood in front of her vehicle like he was daring her to run him down.  Then she got out and opened the passenger door.  You could hear the onlookers gasp. Was there going to be a physical confrontation?  Luckily, another security staffer stepped in to defuse the situation and they coaxed her back into the car.  Phew. Crisis averted.  Now, this is the same place where 5 people were accidentally mowed down in the parking garage and killed about 2 weeks ago.  All I'm saying is, whoever is responsible for designing this transportation hellscape, and whoever is allowing it to continue, should be put in front of a firing squad.  Do not drive to Georgetown University Hospital!  Take a cab, Uber, Lyft, ride from a friend, walk!  Avoid bringing your own car to GUH at all costs.

Docs and staff are great. Food is astonishingly bad, even for hospital food. How can your kitchen run out of ice cream and mayonnaise? Rooms are not great -- during my 5 day stay, I listened to my roommate's choice of 3 seasons of Family Feud.

Difficult arriving ie parking in garage, always a problem should allow 20 min just for parking. Doctors and nurses and admin staff are always pleasant. My doctor is the best as she cares and checks on my health constantly with calls to my cell checking in on me. Highly recommend! Unfortunately with the new Hospital building they are only moving services that are profitable ie transplants services etc!

Going to Georgetown Hospital to get my mammogram done this year was really easy The parking was straightforward maybe for the first time ever and I have been coming here for over 20 years. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful and the technician running the mammogram was clear and thorough. The resident I saw to give me my report at the end of my diagnostic mammogram was helpful and explained things fully. I definitely would recommend this place for getting annual breast care

Generally I have very good experiences with Georgetown. However my visit for an ultra sound was not good. I arrived in time for my appointment but after it was more than an hour later and I was still waiting, I asked. Sometime later I was told there was some issue with my insurance. There should NOT have been any such issue-and after I was told, I said so and offered my Medicare and BCBS Federal Retirement insurance cards, but no one wanted to see them. Only later after I pressed further, was I taken for the exam, but I could see the staff still thought there was an issue. My insurance fully covers such exams. If someone had told me of their concern earlier, I am sure we could have resolved it much more quickly.

MedStar University Hospital in Washington DC provides outstanding radiology and surgical care through the best medical team, I truly appreciate their expertise and feel incredibly blessed from the moment I walk in to the time I leave! The medical staff always ensure I am at ease, comfortable and clear on where I need to be and when; the physicians are caring and the top of their discipline. The first institution I would only consider for cancer treatment and any other serious medical care!

I've been a patient at MedStar Georgetown for a number of years. This year I was diagnosed with Pancreas cancer. From day one everyone from doctors, nurses, office staff and techs have been outstanding. I feel as if I'm their only patient however I know there are others. The doctors and nurses explained everything details of my treatment. I would recommend this hospital to others

I had a good experience while being there for service. The teck i had was very helpful and talk you through everything she was doing. Just keep up the good work. The only thing I have a problem with is I don't like elevators because I got stuck before and I didn't have Access to the steps a doctor had to help me get through with their ID.

Everyone was so friendly and helpful. I was able to get an ultrasound appointment as a walk-in. I so appreciate that as someone with a history of DVT that ultrasound was critical for knowing what is the appropriate treatment plan for me post surgery. The registration staff and the tech who did the ultrasound were amazing, kind, and professional. Thank you!

I was so nervous when I had my procedure done. Dr. Brian Case introduced his self to me before the procedure was done and then assured me that everything is fine and OK ask that the procedure will be quick and simple and I don’t have to worry about anything. That meant everything to me to hear and definitely a sign of relief to trust such a great Doctor. Dr. ‘Brian was so patient and explain every step of the process. The staff that prep me before the procedure was excellent! Most of my physicians are at Georgetown Hospital and Georgetown hospital will always be number one in my book. You guys are the best.

This hospital is outstanding. From their transport team, nursing staffing, and especially their doctors. They helped me so much at such a confusing time. Their transport team was always on time and very social. The nurses were really sweet and patient. Even their doctors were patient and supportive. The doctors took the time to explain everything in great detail prior to my procedure. This hospital is top-tier. If you ever have a tricky medical issue - I know MedStar Georgetown can figure it out and help you as much as they can.

I was admitted at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital to donate bone marrow via Be the Match and I had such a great experience with everyone from the front desk agents to check me in to the doctors and nurses who helped me prepare for surgery and recover from it. The teams here at this hospital are highly educated and clearly enjoy their job which shows by the way they took such great care of me. Thank you!

Very efficient and did not make me wait very long. I think you need another option for patients signing in. Some could not manage the I pad. The staff was courteous and explained all the steps clearly. I felt safe and cared for during the lead up to a procedure that I missed because I was asleep.

Started a bit late, but the team was super apologetic and took amazing care of me. From the great facilities, to the warm blankets and snacks and the thorough explanation every step along the way from the excellent staff, my experience was stellar. I’m happy I chose this location as this was my first MRI ever and the team onsite definitely put me at ease and made the whole experience delightful. Thank you so much! I hope I don’t have to come back, but if I do, I’d choose you all again!

So far Pinto to Georgetown Hospital for about five years and I’ve had a very tremendous awesome experience. I really can’t complain especially the way the healthcare system is now there’s such a shortage, but they tend to manage to take care of all the patients and clients there and it’s a very clean place doctors a wonderful to text so wonderful they’re very understanding they can relate to you, and they take in consideration of your wishes about your own health care, and I am a caregiver myself I do private duty work I travel all over the country and I have taken several of my clients that I have taken care of here in the Washington DC Virginia and Maryland area. So far I have not found the hospital that’s such a Georgetown. I hope they keep up the good work. Who knows maybe I might apply to work there I hope they continue to get the greatest amount of service and I continue to wish them all the best❤️🙏

I met with Dr. Margolis and his resident assistant and they could not have been more attentive or helpful in my medical issue. The appointment happened on time and the front desk was very efficient and courteous. The parking was hassle free although I don’t understand why it is necessary to charge a fee when you have a validated ticket for valet parking. That was the only negative.

Donated a kidney there in 2022 and my care has been absolutely awful. Seems like all Georgetown cares about is doing the surgery and then you are completely on your own afterwards. I can't get anyone to answer the phone for follow up appointments or answer questions. As the donor, I am not supposed to receive any bills and I have been billed countless time and even been sent to collections, even though I call and email everyone every time I received a bill. I would never recommend this hospital to anyone having this surgery.

Dr. Patrick Jackson and team were exceptional. Very professional, kept my daughter and I informed at all times. Post operative care was wonderful and I then was transferred to observation centre for the night and it was again professional and every health care worker I came in contact was so nice and helpful. We I got home Dr. Jackson’s nurse contacted me to ask how I was and to schedule my return appointment. I want to specifically thank Susan as she was with me the entire journey and really made it easier. Susan thank you and you truly are a blessing and good nurse.

Every person I came in contact with was friendly and professional. My blood pressure actually went down while I was doing the intake process. It seemed to be their goal to make me feel confident in their care. Nice medical experience.

As usual, we received excellent care from the entire staff at the wound care clinic. Dr. Steinberg’s patience and caring engagement was especially appreciated. He was efficient without making us feel like he was just getting through the appointment.

My first visit at MedStar Georgetown was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Dr. Atves handled my care with such grace, I was convinced that he was an artist disguised as a practitioner. I'm already looking forward to my followup appointment. Thanks again for the hospitality of your staff (Which most definitely includes you, Robin)...!!!

Staff, NP and doctor were all so accommodating and kind! I got to my appt early and was seen right away (now that's a definite plus in my book)!! Was very pleased with Dr Bhanot. He was very knowledgeable and explained exactly what needed to be done before surgery. I was also impressed with the way he explained the medical details in terms that I could understand. My husband and daughter were in the office with me and they as well were impressed. I would give 10 stars if I could!!
