We LOVE this restaurant. Recommend catching the happy hour that’s until 7 on weekdays 🪩 Every dish and drink is so yummy. Waiters are friendly and offer great service. Atmosphere is nice but relaxed. You don’t need reservations and very affordable with big portions. My Filipino friend said it was some of the best spicy fried chicken he’s had Celebrated my birthday here and they gave us a delicious serving of ube bread pudding, best bread pudding I’ve had!

Purple Patch DC was a delightful dining establishment that definitely lives up to its name: most of the menu items are adorned with a garnish of purple (Ube ice cream, orchid, etc.), and the restaurant is tucked into a "patch" down a small set of stairs. The menu consisted of hearty, American food with a fancy Filipino twist, and my party tried a variety of food options that we all found delicious (as presented in the photos of this review). Some of our favorite beverages were the Spicy Calamansi Margarita, made with their house-infused roasted jalapeno tequila, and the Purple Patch Hot Cider, which paired well with our meals on this cold, snowy winter afternoon. Some of our favorite food items were the Fried Calamansi Wings, Crispy Eggplant, Crab Fritters, Fried Red Snapper, and their signature Ube Waffle & Filipino Fried Chicken, in which the chicken was braised with soy and vinegar and the Ube Waffle was served with a scoop of Ube ice cream and a side of macapuno (coconut) syrup. Also, because it was my birthday, I was gifted with the most delicious thing to ever grace the surface of my taste buds - the Ube Bread Pudding was by far, one of the most heavenly things I've tasted, and was the absolute perfect way to top off this amazing brunch experience. The bread itself was warm and lightly sweetened with condensed milk, while served with a caramel drizzle, granola and a scoop of Ube ice cream. Overall, between the superior customer service, low-key, homey ambiance, delicious entrees and divine cocktails, the entire brunch experience was absolutely splendid! While they don't take reservations, I highly recommend Purple Patch and encourage you to call in advance the day of your planned visit. No matter what you order, be sure to try the Ube Bread Pudding and you won't be disappointed!

First off the staff here is AMAZING...when dining in ask for: Jose, he will definitely take good care of you. Alex, their General Manager, is super knowledgeable especially with the history of the restaurant. I ordered the Pancit Mahal to go and me and my husband enjoyed it so much that for my birthday ( Dec 16) my husband surprised me with a delivery from Purple Patch. Plus, Jose made sure I enjoyed my birthday with a dessert and a personalized note to me with best wishes. I highly recommend Purple Patch if you want to try authentic traditional Filipino food. 👍👍👍

This is really a 4.5. Love that you don't need a reservation at this restaurant. This place has excellent options with classic homie Filipino cuisine. The service is fantastic as well. In general, each dish was very good. The lumpia was perfectly fried, crispy, and thin. Accompanied by two sauces. The Sizzling Sisig, was very tasty, with some bites packed with amazing flavor, others kinda bland - this is after it was properly mixed. So that was a tad odd. It's still very good. The beef adobo in a gravy was the standout. That's a must buy in my opinion. I'd definitely return to try other options on the vast menu.

We went on a Sunday and my party loved the vibes and food. I however, would advise against ordering the bistec. The flavors were good, and it reminded me of Salisbury steak. The beef was cooked way beyond well done after I asked for medium rare. I honestly should have said something but it had already taken forever to get the food. Also our drinks never came, which is a bummer cus they looked really good. The salad on the side was amazing. Get that instead.

This place was fantastic from the start. The waiter and waitress we had were very personable and on the ball. They explained the menu, and came back repeatedly to take orders and clean the table. The meal and drinks came within the 10 minutes we ordered them which was a surprise because the quality was far beyond the time we expected it to take. I ordered the chicken and ube waffles+icecream. My girlfriend ordered the sizzling tsig tsig and “something sweet”, a blend of ube, calamansi, etc. We devoured our meal in twenty minutes and enjoyed every bite. The space we had for two was kind of cramped but everything else made up for it. Definitely a must try in the area.

I came specifically for their ube waffles with fried chicken and ube ice cream and it didn’t disappoint! The chicken could be a bit less dry but the whole dish came together very well! The spicy mango margarita was amazing. I definitely recommend that. I’d get it again if I come back. The service was also amazing. The waiters took care of us very well and was very polite, friendly and attentive.

My husband and I love Filipino food, but there isn't much of it in Charlotte (where we're from). A Yelp friend recommended this spot to me and it was only a block from where we were staying, so coming was a no brainer. They do brunch every day, but the best part is, you can order from the dinner menu during brunch hours too! So if you want the most options, go for brunch. My husband and I shared: - Ube Waffle & Filipino Fried Chicken with Ube Ice Cream - Sizzling Sisig - Ube Bread Pudding - Ube Cheesecake Between the entrees, the Sizzling Sisig was my favorite. I love this dish and this is the best version of it that I've had. The Ube Waffle wasn't bad, but I couldn't taste any ube flavor. As for dessert, I LOVED the Ube Cheesecake. The Ube flavor was strong in this one. It wasn't a dense cheesecake either which I liked. I was disappointed about the Ube Bread Pudding. The menu said it was supposed to come with caramel sauce, but instead it came out covered in chocolate sauce. I don't like chocolate, so I didn't eat it. I wish the menu had been accurate because I easily could have ordered it without the chocolate sauce if I had known. I'd love to come back sometime because there were many other things I wanted to try.

Excellent food + service. Crab stuffed red snapper was great with an actually really good side salad. Get the banana bread w Ube ice cream dessert — just the right amount of sweetness. Only disappointment (not pictured) was the papaya salad — kinda dry like it had been sitting awhile.. not sure if that’s the intention of the dish. Overall, recommend!

at long last, i finally got to try purple patch! went with a friend and we shared a few appetizers & the side of waffles and ube ice cream. it was a beautiful day so we dined outdoors. service was friendly, upbeat, and quick. beautiful presentation of food. you can tell that they're really proud of their menu. loved everything, from the freshness and crunchiness of the papaya salad, to the slightly sweet ube ice cream on waffles, to the juicy and tender chicken skewers.

We got their spicy adobo entree, pork belly sisig, lumpia and fried eggplant. Everything was very delicious and highly recommend it. We went there for our anniversary and they gave us ube bread pudding and ice cream on the house, which was fantastic. The cocktail drinks were also fantastic. I’d definitely order that! Highly recommend this place! Make this a must stop in DC!

What a fun place to hang out! Everything was wonderful! The drinks, food, service and atmosphere were perfect! I loved the large amount of vegetarian options. The mulled cider with spiced rum was yummy! I can tell locals hang out there frequently. Our waiter was fun and he told us they do brunch on weekdays, so I’ll definitely be back! There’s basic street parking nearby if you’re lucky. Such a fun place!

Purple patch is one of my favorite restaurants in DC. My husband and I have been coming here for years. We live in Silver Spring and during covid I would come pick up carry out so we could get our fix. We love the streetery set up and ate outside even in the cold in coats under the heat lamps! Last night, I brought my best friends and they also loved it! The service has been consistently good even during covid when things were rough. We had Matt as our server last night and he was great-friendly and attentive. The menu has a great selection of food and they also have well balanced cocktails (their Filipino espresso martini is must try!). My favorites dishes from our multiple visits over the years are the lumpia, wings, adobo sliders, the fried chicken adobo, both the snapper dishes, and the Bicol express. I also love the Achara papaya salad with the ginger punches -it comes with the fried chicken and is a great combo. I can’t leave purple patch without getting the bread pudding with the ube ice cream. Last night my friends and I had the halo halo which was so refreshing and an amazing combo of textures and flavors. The icing on the cake is that it was presented to us by chef Patrice herself! You can truly see the passion she has for her craft when she described the dish and that truly made me feel at home. I hope Purple Patch continues to flourish- already can’t wait for my next trip back!

I do not give five star review too often. I reserve it for places that truly hit the target. Purple Patch is one of them. Ambiance, service, food....all excellent. Purple Patch is cozy yet spacious. Service is prompt, courteous, not intrusive and fast. Food is EXCELLENT! Everything was prepared fresh and cooked to perfection. Can't make all of the dishes that I've pleasure of trying but all of them were excellent! Whatever is in my pictures, i highly recommend. Reservation is needed and service fee of 20% is automatically added. The only downside is lack of designated parking - parking is on the street so during budy time, it might be wise to use an ride-sharing app of your choice.

Overall 4.5. I enjoyed most of what we ordered! No reservation was needed and we were seated in about 30 minutes. For appetizer, we had Mama Alice's lumpia, which was tasty enough. Not sure I'd highly recommend it though. For entrees, I personally had the spicy adobo fried chicken. It was delicious albeit a bit salty (4.5/5). I'd recommend it! It was not that spicy. I had just a little of the pork adobo, which tasted just okay. I definitely preferred the spicy chicken adobo. For dessert, we had the ube pie. It melted in our mouths! Not too sweet either. Definitely get this if you have space for dessert!

We ate at Purple Patch, a well know Filipino-American restaurant in DC. The Chef and Owner, Patrice Cleary, was so kind to us. She came and inspired us with her story of her plight for Filipino-American representation and her passion to uplift our culture and make Filipino food inclusive. She was also a former Marine! She’s an incredible person all around. The food was also amazing. Our favorite was the lechon kawali but everything we had was *chef’s kiss.* There’s no picture of the Laing that Patrice had us taste because we devoured it immediately. 😂 The staff at the Purple Patch are also to be commended. They met all our needs and beyond. Purple Patch is a landmark for us when it comes to excellent food and service in DC.

Excellent Filipino food for a great price! I really enjoyed the Lechon Kiwali & Sizzling Sisig. Both were very flavorful! The Fried Red Snapper was decent. Friendly staff and great atmosphere.

Our server, Erin was really wonderful and the environment was lovely. I especially loved the ube bread pudding and my gin drink - unique and delicious. Give it a try if you like martinis! Our other dishes had very mild flavor but overall was good!

Every dish here that we ordered was absolutely amazing. Really great food. The atmosphere was chill and the wait was not long when we went around 1pm for 7. The service was nothing to complain about. The only difficult thing was having QR menus when there is no phone service and the WiFi did not work great.

I was hoping Purple Patch would be incredible given its super high ratings. Unfortunately, the food did not match these sky-high expectations. The lumpia and halo-halo were great, but the chicken adobo was very disappointing. It wasn't particularly special.

I've been here three times over the last ten years and I feel mixed about it. The food can be hit or miss, it kind of depends on the dish. Brunch was my favorite meal here. This most recent time we did dinner and I did papaya salad, Pancit Mahal, and fried eggplant. All were good but not great. I can say that consistently the staff is excellent and provide good service even when packed like it was tonight on Wednesday night. Cocktails are good too. And of course the owner is amazing. I personally wish for a bit better quality on the dishes.

Purple Patch in Washington DC is a culinary treasure that artfully blends Filipino and American flavors to create a mouthwatering symphony. The food journey here was nothing short of extraordinary. The appetizer, featuring CALAMANSI CHICKEN SKEWERS and MISO CAESAR SALAD, redefined the familiar with an explosion of taste. The miso caesar salad with the calamansi chicken skewers was a masterpiece of deconstruction, making it a true feast for the senses. As for the main dish, the RED SNAPPER RELLENO was simply stunning. Broiled to perfection with panko, trumpet mushrooms, tomatoes, onions, scallions, and a velvety beurre blanc sauce, each bite was a revelation. Served with jasmine rice, it was a match made in culinary heaven. But the surprises didn't stop there. The UBE BREAD PUDDING dessert took the experience to new heights, bursting with unexpected flavors that delighted the palate. Kudos to the amazing chef who masterfully crafted each dish with finesse and a genuine passion for culinary art. The service was impeccable, ensuring a seamless and delightful dining experience. Purple Patch is a must-visit for anyone seeking a truly exceptional fusion of flavors. Prepare to be transported on a gastronomic journey that leaves an indelible mark on your taste buds and heart. #PurplePatch #CulinaryTreasure #FlavorfulDelight #FilipinoAmericanFlavors #FoodieExperience #MouthwateringSymphony #RestaurantReview #FoodieFinds #GourmetEats #GastronomicExperience #FoodLover #FoodieDiscovery #TravelToEat #TasteTheWorld

If you're looking at the building, restaurant is down a set of stairs on the right, under the Purple Patch sign. Arrived when restaurant opened and noticed employees throughly cleaning the restaurant. Plenty of outdoor shaded seating with a pleasant breeze. Greeted immediately and taken to our table. Ordered the lumpia, arroz caldo (highly recommended rice porridge with saffron, chicken, ginger, scallions and toasted garlic), pandan honey butter pandesal (a must hawaiian sweet bread like with cheese best eaten warm right when they bring to table), ube waffle with filipino fried chicken and ube ice cream (crispy succulent pieces of chicken thighs paired with the sweetness of the ube waffle and ube ice cream, pandit canton (rice noodles with various crispyvegetables such as cabbage and green beans in a peppery whie sauce), shirt rib Adobe (a moist pull apart short rib with potatoes braised in coconut sauce) and the sizzling sisig platter (not one of my favorites due to how good the other dishes were). Overall food was excellent and service was wonderful. Employees were very friendly and constantly clearing off our table and making sure we were enjoying our food. Definitely worth a visit and don't let the automatic 20% service charge deter you as they will earn every bit of it with their impeccable service (food was awesome...did I mention that?). Come and visit!!!

This was my first time having Filipino food…did not disappoint in the slightest🔥the owner and staff are extremely caring and accommodating. Our party had some food restrictions (I am a pescatarian and a friend has a gluten free diet), but there was still a wide variety of options for us to choose from. Truly amazing meal; special points for their Fried Red Snapper, which was among the best I’ve ever had. Cant wait till next time!

I was visiting DC and a friend suggested we try this Phillipino restaurant near Adams Morgan. I've never had this style food, so why not? We were seated quickly (they don't take reservations) and the menu is on a QR code. The first thing listed are the restaurant's set of "rules," the first being that you will be charged a 20% service fee. I've seen this at some resort locations but I looked around and didn't see a beach anywhere. Upon being seated they also ask for a phone number, which I found curious. Why? We started with the fried egg roll appetizer and they were just alright. For dinner we ordered a chicken skewer dish and pork with garlic fried rice. It was very good and the portions were generous. The server was very friendly and attentive. For dessert my friend ordered the ube bread pudding which was just OK. Overall a decent experience but they would have had a better tip if they ditched their rules.

PHENOMENAL! One of the best meals I’ve had in DC. All three courses were incredibly tasty. The food is fresh and delicious; also loved the decor of the restaurant. Expect to be taken care of well with fantastic, friendly and prompt service too! I cannot recommend this place enough. Get the spicy adobo chicken entree!

Friendly service and really good authentic Filipino food. The lumpia, lechon kawali, and adobos are all fantastic (especially the beef short rib adono--cut it with a spoon tender). And the desserts were fantastic. Go with four people and get the dessert sampler. You'll be happy you did.

I had a great time out with friends for brunch this Saturday! We each got a different drink and taste tested with the provided straws - each was delicious. My cantaloupe frose was a little less sweet and very cold, so nicely refreshing on a hot day. I had the chicken adobe hash and wish I lived closer so I could come back more often to get it again. Super moist and flavorful chicken. My friends got the Frozen Rainbow Kisses and Frozen Spicy Mango Margarita to drink, and then had the pork skewers and Ube cinnamon toast, and breakfast pork belly sandwich to eat. We recommend them all! The patio is really cute, although beware the bees, and the meal price was very reasonable.

Incredible food!!!! Can't give it enough stars. Sizzling sisig is very meat heavy and very well done. Bread pudding was excellent and the other few things we tried were great. Service was excellent, good vegetarian options, and I like that they automatically add 20% gratuity to your bill. Will definitely come back!
