Wonderful place to learn about history of last decade. Specially recommended to families with younger kids. Nice job for Christmas decoration and beautiful lighting. Very kind and helpful staff which make your visit more enjoyable. It takes about 45 minutes to visit all the place. If you are coming during Christmas I would recommend to spend longer here and enjoy lights. Admission is free and free parking provided. Not enough parking space though.

Great attractive museum, good for families. The museum presents a reconstruction of institutions from over a hundred years ago, such as a bank, the post office, a train station, movie teather (show movie without sound like in the past) and more. I visited here during the weekend of December 2023 and the place decorated nicely for the Christmas. The entrance is for free. There is a carousel (also reconstruction) for children that cost money. The line to the carousel was long (approximately one hour). They told us that it's because we came on December and on May for example no line at all. There is also a line to see Santa. There are coffee houses in the museum. There is a parking lot for free and its full. Hard to find parking spots. Really nice and recommended to visit.

This was a fun impromptu adventure. I haven't been here since I was in grade school and it was a great time! There is tons of bits of history here and the volunteer staff are friendly and ready to tell you unique and interesting facts. Also the carousel is pretty adorable. With all the Christmas lights, it is just that little bit extra. And it's totally free (aside from the carousel and the food) so you've got to check it out!

I was extremely impressed with everything about this museum, it was my first experience with Canadian history and culture, and the friendly and helpful staff just made it more enjoyable. The Love farmhouse, the Elworth house, the Interurban Tram, and the general store were the most beautiful parts. We enjoyed walking around and just enjoying this beautiful place. The museum is an absolute must-see.

We visited this place and it was one of the hottest day. My husband really loves historical places and it was a perfect place for him. He absolutely loved it. However, there are not many buildings with AC, which you should take into consideration if you plan to visit this place. There was an area where you could tie an orange piece of cloth to wish the peace for the indigenous kids that were recently found in Kamloops and Saskatchewan, which was nice. It had a lot of useful information about the history of Burnaby and the people who dedicated to it. I highly recommend this place for anyone visit Burnaby or Vancouver, especially you have kids!

Highly recommend, especially if you are interested in Canadian history. Loved all the details and antiques throughout each building. The movie theatre was even playing a silent film. Staff and volunteers were very friendly and knowledgeable. With free admission, you can’t go wrong. I can’t believe it was free, we would have paid. Spent a few hours here and only spent $10, two rides on the carousel and a couple drinks from the gift shop.

Wonderful place to visit. Extremely well maintained museum. If you have kids is an fun way to take them back in time. It has a really old Vic be to it. Every season has its own charm. Summer has beautiful flower and veggie patches. Halloween decorations are fun and best are winter lights. This cool place is free to visit during a certain period. Best attractions are the Tram and Carousel 🎠. Intricately hand crafted carousel is a wonder to watch and enjoy. Ample parking space available. Obviously busy on weekends but is worth going at least once in every season. Highly recommended

This is must go place you should not miss, not only full of the Christmas spirits but also some historical buildings and stories. It’s free to visit and do check with front desk(information) for special events or other pay facilities. It’s a great place to bring kids and families, "Parking are very limited" do check the website for open hours.

I really like this place. Apart from the free admission, this place was also educative. I went there during the christmas season. They put a lot of colorful lights decoration. The staff in few houses in the village was also very nice and informative, like the one in the electric train house and in the post office in the store house. The place was beautiful. There was also music performance from two elves when I was there. Really great.

CANADA DAY 2022! free, so loads of people. better to go there when it's not busy so you can soak up the reading and pic taking if you are that kind of person. everything was kept up really nice considering all the buildings are mostly 100yrs old. it was good to go in and see how small everything was compared to living in Vancouver now. how a "village" could operate long time ago is very interesting in deed. there is ice cream shop with hot lunch also served. washroom is beside it. but no one realizes that there is more than 1 washroom there. cleanest and not used washroom in the area is in the Carousel. i only saw only a few women using that area compared to the very accessible washroom.

A charming 1920's living history village museum. It a really well kept big garden that it also teach us about the local history in BC. The staff there are really friendly and tell you about the history of us hundred years ago. If you bring your kids or you young at heart, don't forget to try the carousel near the backdoor. It only costs less than $3.00 You may have a rest and a drink before you go in the Ice Cream Parlour. The decorations of this place makes you back to your childhood.

Amazing place during Christmas season. The lights around the village make it magic. With the early sunset during winter plan to come by 3 or 4pm and then enjoy the lights. Parking is limited but you can park on deer lake parking. It was cold so come prepared because the temperature usually drops during the evening. The admission is free.

My daughter and I went to Heritage Village for the Christmas vibe. Really enjoyed ourselves as we always do. It was nice to get out in the fresh air and see so many pretty lights. We really enjoyed the popcorn and apples. Very tasty and surprisingly decent priced .

Very well curated collection of dwellings and institutions showing what life was like in Burnaby in the 1800s to early 1900s. There is over a dozen places such as the bakery, classroom, general store and barber shop that you could take a peek into. They also have live demonstrations at the print shop, blacksmith, etc. The staff is welcoming and gave me a lot of information on how the fire stove worked and where the Burnaby trams once operated. The best thing: free admission! I visited just before Christmas in the afternoon, so I didn't get to enjoy the lights that they have put up. I had no problem parking when I arrived shortly after 1 pm. But when I left around 3 pm the parking lot was full. If you're coming at a busy time, it would be worth checking the museum's website which has a map of nearby parking lots.

It is fun to be able to see what things have been like in the past, it has a very good atmosphere. You can see people explaining to you what you see and giving you curious facts. Everything is well signposted and clean. There were many children on my visit, so you had to be careful not to bump into any of them. There are many things to see and learn.

Need something to do with your children? Day cares, camps, school classes, or your own kids, the Burnaby Village Museum is a place to go. It's free admission. That's right, free! There is history telling, nature sights, flowers, to historical buildings museum, carousel (supposedly it's a 4-minute ride) to cafe / ice cream parlour. Go for the full feeling and buy your food here to keep this place running free admission. It's open from Tuesday to Sundays, and only open on Mondays if it's a statutory holiday if I recall. Will make sure I take a photo next time am there. The place is predominantly run by volunteers which am impressed with. The actors/actresses dress the part and know their stuff on what they are talking about.

A must-go of Burnaby, especially it's admission-free till September. Buildings and all the items and decors in them are authentically restored from historical records. There is a friendly staff dressing as people from 1920s do and talk to you to demonstrate how people actually live in Burnaby a hundred years ago. There's even a theater where you can watch silent films on show. It is a special place so peaceful and untouchable from the world outside, providing a little escape from the city.

1st time visit this small but fun museum. Good place with family and kids, especially when Bright in Burnaby, the official kick-off event for Heritage Christmas, and it's free! Please respect 2 meter distance from each other and bring masks. I forgot the mask and unable to go inside of the heritage rooms.

A wonderful place with a wealth of history. Several heritage houses of 100+ years, kept in prisinte condition and enhanced by well manicured gardens (including some vegetable gardens). One of the major attractions is a 110 year old carousel ride. The staff are amazing and knowledgeable. Definitely worth checking out.

Neat place to visit for a few hours to learn about local history, especially as a free summer activity. I appreciated the inclusion of Indigenous, South Asian and Chinese history. Popular place for families with young children. Loved the blacksmith demonstration, restored train and that many people on site to answer questions.

This Musium is a perfect place to spend a family time and have fun for all ages. Although most of the buildings are replica of the real buildings, but they perfectly shows that part of the history. Walkways and roads are nicely maintained and gardened with fabulous flowers. Carousel with organ music could be amusing for youngsters and nostalgic for older ones! Admission was free and so parking did. I recomend to allocate at least 2 hours for your visit. There was a gift shop next to the carousel. Not much options for food though.

A few minutes walk from Deer Lake is Burnaby Village Museum. Whether or not you’re into trains, it’s a great place to relax and enjoy. The exhibits show a great collection of objects that reflect Burnaby’s history, I personally loved the printing press, and the trinkets in the general merchandise.

Great attractive museum, good for families. The museum reconstructs the Burnaby community and institutions from the 1920s, such as a bank, the post office, a train station, a house, a cabin, a school, a bakeshop and more. It was my first time coming here with friends that were from Japan. This was in December 2019 and it makes me sad that I won't be able to see this place over Christmas. It's really beautiful with the Christmas lights and the old carousel. My friend loves trains and the volunteers there were such good storytellers. We learned a lot about Vancouver's history and had a wonderful time exploring the village. I highly recommend this place and hope to visit it again soon.

A glimpse into early life in Burnaby and Vancouver. Lots of historical houses and artifacts and fascimilies of old shops to wander through and explore. There's an old streetcar and a church and a small cafe. There's also a carousel and a model train area that's very interesting as well. Limited access during COVID and the carousel is closed, but admission seems to be free during this time so well worth a visit for a trip back in time and to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

The BVM is a great example of what makes the City of Burnaby great. Entrance to this historical and wonderfully maintained museum has been free for over a decade. The only time one pays is for carousel rides ($2.50), Halloween events and food. I recommend this attraction for families, seniors and those who have an interest in local history.

Lots of things to do and see that helps transport you back in time. The volunteers and staff are very educational and everything is so well preserved. The village is fun and lots of events throughout the summer to come back to.

Great place to learn about history of the last decade. Specially recommended to families with younger kids. Very knowledgeable and helpful staff which make your visit more enjoyable. It takes about 45 minutes to visit the whole village. Admission is free (Except for the Carousal ride) and with free parking provided.

One of a kind interactive museum and fun for kids to explore. Everyone should experience the carousel with the antique jukebox! Finish off your visit with refreshments (cotton candy, kettle corn, hot dogs, etc) sold outside the gift shop!

Was such a great experience! And it was all free! You can go into the shops and there are people in there explaining things for you. There was a great cable car there too. Very cool spot.

Beautiful museum with enthousiastic personel. A Beautiful carousel and a plesant stay. The only thing was, the restaurant was closed for renovation. And no option for coffee. As a Dutch tourist I am addicted to coffee🤣. And above all. No entree ticket needed.

A great place to go on weekends, free admission, spacious and interesting architecture with lots of history. Great for young families. Everything was well kept, clean and manicured. The staff there were friendly and actively made conversation and offered demonstrations for visitors. Would even better if there were more parking and food options. Only have a handful of parking at the centre, so you may have to look for residential street parking. Only one cafe there with a very simple menu of hotdogs, coffee and pastries.

Pretty nice experience. Staff were very knowledgeable, and there was a good remake of the town shops and heritage. The circus area was pretty fun too! Will strongly recommend a visit. Expect more than 4 hrs to finish everything.

Its' been a few years since we last came to Burnaby Village Museum and there have been a few changes to it. They appear to have done some renovations in certain areas and they've set things up so that the experience here is more interactive than before. There are things that can be turned, flipped and sniffed! I love these new changes they've made. The Carousel ride is still there. That's one thing I hope they never change! Oh...you can get screamers at the Ice Cream Parlour now. They are available in two delicious flavors! This is a great place to come for an educational, fun and scrumptious experience that will have you "screaming" with delight! Oh, free admission is always something to smile about as well! Service: Good Parking: Free Location: 6501 Deer Lake Ave., Burnaby, BC

Strong recommend. Very detailed houses and business. Blacksmith has a real production of nails and other stuff. The most interesting quest is 'guess the scent' you need to smell and guess.

Literally more fun with my kids than when I was a kid (the last time I visited) myself. The train, carousel and the Love Farmhouse are really beautifully preserved pieces of history and the town is SO cute. Great scavenger hunt activity for kids, and lots of fun poking around in the General Store, Blacksmith and Printing Shop (!!!!!!).

A fantastic destination for children and history enthusiasts, offering an insightful journey into the past. The addition of Christmas lights also creates a wonderful atmosphere.

A heritage village museum, this is Burnaby's gem to know about this city's history since the early twentieth century. A great cultural space to visit with kids and family and get informed about Burnaby's past and how far it has come. If you can, visit during Heritage Christmas--lights decoration during the festive season--to get awed by the dazzling lights. I guarantee it will be an experience to cherish!

We're huge fans of the Burnaby Village Museum and are very grateful to the city, staff, and volunteers that run it and keep it so welcoming/interesting! In the summer, it's a peaceful place to walk around. In the fall, there is the super Halloween event and then of course, at Christmas, it's the best. Each time we go, we learn a little bit more about life in Burnaby 100 years or so ago & have so much fun going into the little shops and chatting with staff. My only suggestion to the museum is that for the Halloween and Christmas events, have music playing in the background throughout the village. And for visitors, this year, the wait for the carousel was an hour at Christmas time - I suggest going on it in the summer when there isn't as long as a wait. Overall, highly recommend the Burnaby Village Museum, this is a huge hidden gem!!!!

👍👍 Great place for all ages. There are multiple amenities in this park. Tenis and basketball courts. Table tenis and a nice playground for the young ones. During summers, it gets busy due to the water playground area. Nice for a weekend barbecue or after office walk.

👍👍 First time visited this Temple. Great location, anyone outside of BC can find it easily. There is a Hindu temple next to it. You can visit two temples in one time. Hare Krishna temple lot is big. Shree Gourango Mohaprovu always dancing at the back yard, standing tall! Such a beautiful Gourango Mohap...
