I
previously
loved
going
to
F45.
It
was
a
weekly
ritual
2-3
times
a
week
for
my
partner
and
myself
that
left
us
feeling
amazing.
We
felt
a
sense
of
community
and
belonging
in
our
5:35pm
classes,
sweating
along
with
others,
and
taking
in
the
encouragement
and
support
that
filled
the
room.
The
coaches
are
also
great,
especially
Danny,
in
offering
helpful
pointers
and
suggestions
to
improve
your
form
or
accommodate
your
individual
needs
for
a
specific
exercise.
However,
in
early
July
2023,
I
started
experiencing
acute
symptoms
that
left
me
with
a
terrible
cough,
difficulty
breathing,
nausea,
chest
pain
and
lightheadedness
with
no
clear
diagnosis
from
my
doctor.
Any
significant
increases
in
my
heart
rate
would
lead
to
coughing
spells
that
would
leave
me
lightheaded
and
in
pain.
Days
before
the
onset
of
symptoms,
I
had
purchased
a
10
class
pack
valid
for
3
months
(~$300).
I
reached
out
to
F45
early
to
notify
them
of
my
condition,
and
that
there
was
no
prognosis
or
diagnosis
but
I
was
working
closely
with
my
doctor
to
address
my
issues.
It
should
also
be
mentioned
that
they
don't
allow
you
to
take
classes
when
you're
sick
or
have
any
COVID-like
symptoms,
which
I
did.
They
responded
with
"In
order
to
process
the
extension
request,
we
kindly
ask
you
to
provide
us
with
a
medical
note
from
your
doctor
or
healthcare
provider.
The
medical
note
should
clearly
state
your
health
issue
and
provide
an
estimated
timeline
for
your
recovery.
This
information
will
help
us
better
understand
your
situation
and
ensure
that
we
can
provide
the
appropriate
extension
for
your
class
pack."
My
doctor
charges
$173
for
a
doctor's
note
that
includes
a
diagnosis/prognosis
and
recovery
time.
I
notified
them
I
did
not
have
a
diagnosis
or
prognosis,
and
there
is
no
estimated
time
for
recovery,
so
paying
for
a
note
wouldn't
achieve
what
they
were
looking
for.
I
also
mentioned
I
didn't
think
it
was
reasonable
to
pay
50%
of
the
cost
of
my
class
pack
to
'prove'
I
couldn't
exercise.
Against
my
better
judgement,
I
sent
them
photos
of
all
the
medical
requisitions,
medications
and
notes
from
my
doctor
with
dates
to
demonstrate
I
was
legitimately
sick.
Instead,
they
decided
to
fall
back
on
their
laurels
that
a
medical
note
with
a
timeline
for
recovery
was
a
standard
requirement.
I
was
referred
to
two
different
specialists
since
preliminary
testing
made
it
unclear
what
was
causing
my
symptoms
and
medication
hadn't
been
effective.
The
rationale
of
F45
was:
"By
providing
a
medical
note,
we
can
better
understand
the
nature
of
your
condition
and
the
recommended
duration
by
your
doctor
or
medical
practitioner
for
extending
your
class
pack.
This
allows
us
to
tailor
the
extension
to
your
specific
circumstances
and
ensure
that
you
have
ample
time
to
utilize
your
remaining
classes.
Our
primary
goal
is
to
support
you
in
your
fitness
journey
while
also
respecting
your
privacy
and
individual
needs."
If
the
ultimate
goal
was
to
accommodate
my
needs,
their
current
policy
doesn't
do
that—it's
rigid
and
requires
clients
to
“prove”
how
unwell
they
are
and
have
a
definitive
date
of
recovery,
such
that
your
pass
can
only
be
extended
until
that
point
versus
wanting
clients
to
genuinely
recover
and
return
to
classes
when
they
are
able.
At
no
point
did
I
ask
for
a
refund,
as
I
truly
wanted
to
be
healthy
enough
to
return
to
F45
and
use
the
classes
I
had
purchased.
They
were
only
willing
to
offer
a
1
month
extension
after
all
the
evidence
I
had
provided
to
them.
In
the
end,
after
12
weeks,
2
specialists,
4
different
medications
and
6
different
medical
tests,
I
still
don’t
have
a
diagnosis
but
my
symptoms
have
subsided.
My
class
pack
at
F45
has
expired
and
I'm
out
of
pocket
~$300
for
the
cost
of
a
class
pack
I
couldn't
use.
Knowing
that
I
attend
2
other
studios
in
the
area
who
were
extremely
accommodating
and
flexible
when
given
the
same
information,
not
even
asking
for
a
doctor's
note,
I
know
where
I
will
place
my
loyalty,
build
community
and
continue
to
attend
classes.
