We only found this place thanks to the reviews, it is hidden in the Sunset medical building with trees covering the signage. It is CASH only so make sure you go prepared. The soup was absolutely amazing. If you are looking for fresh, homemade soup and sandwiches this is the place. We also had a Turkey sandwhich. It was real Turkey breast, nothing processed. The chicken is also a real piece of chicken. And the portion size of Turkey was huge (see photo). Although Yaser (the owner) did not ask what we wanted on our sandwhich, you can expect mayo, lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Salt and pepper can be added at your table as he doesnt add any. You have to tell him if you want cheese. We saw the burgers on the stove and they looked delicious. He had 3 different soups but once one runs out, it's gone! He is not there to upsell, he truly just loves serving the delicious food he prepares and appreciates the gratitude he receives. The menu is soup, sandwiches, salad and I am guessing a hot meal of the day (burger day today). Simple selection but oh so good! Dont let the simple 80s decor startle you as you enter. I am a picky eater with stomach issues and I felt totally comfortable eating the food.

The place is nice little cafe where the owner Mr. Yasser welcomes you with a warm smile. He solely does everything and from scratch. The menu is limited consisting of sandwich salads soup and drink. The service is homely so is the food. The best thing is it's very cheap and the quality is top notch. I tried the roast beef sandwich and the turkey sandwich and added soup in the side. The quantity along with the quality was really good. I really enjoyed it and would totally recommend it.

My gf and I were looking for a soup and sandwich and chose Yassers Cafe because we saw the great google reviews and we were not disappointed! A cozy, cheap eats diner, Yasser was welcoming and friendly from the moment we walked in. The sandwiches were $6 and they were just what we were looking for. Yasser is a gracious and wonderful owner who gave us free chocolates and made us feel like a part of his community. Definitely recommend if you’re in the Burnaby area!

Me & my husband we visited this place today for a quick lunch and it was worth it. As you go through the review you’ll find loads of praise about the owner (Yasser) and definitely his cafe’s Sandwiches/ Soup Well, I too wanna say that Man is very kind, generous, friendly. I really don’t know how he himself alone manages the whole cafe but he is doing a really great job, I must say! May his business become prosperous and successful for the years to come 😃 Sandwiches (Turkey/ Corn Beef/ Roasted beef) 10/10 🌟 Soup (white/red) 10/10 🌟

Yasser is an amazing Kind Gentle soul who takes the time to make everyone smile amd one of the few restaurants in town that keeps their prices low enough for everyone to enjoy. And the helpings are big. This is "where everyone knows your name" restaurant. Whether you come here for coffee or or lunch, he will serve you unhurriedly with his sense of humour. Thank you for making our neighbourhood so lively with your restaurant Yasser! By the way His soups, shrimp sandwich, and Greek Salad are amazing. And the Turkey Dinners are the best.

A true local gem in the middle of the city of burnaby. The prices of the sandwiches, soup and burgers are extremely affordable. The quantities are wholesome, and more importantly the food is made with love and care by the owner himself. The owner is a very friendly and down to earth guy who provides top notch service. That is why, the atmosphere of the place is extremely pleasant and welcoming. P.S: Don't forget to ask for the daily special. Chances are you will be amazed by it.

One of the best lunch places I have ever been to. It’s a hidden gem. Their daily specials and soups are a must try. Shrimp and chicken sandwiches are the best on their menu. Every penny spent it worth it not that you will have to break the bank to eat there. Please give it a shot!

I recently had the pleasure of visiting The New Cairo Café, and I must say, it exceeded all my expectations. Nestled in the bustling heart of the city, this café is a true hidden gem for anyone seeking a memorable dining experience. From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the cozy and inviting atmosphere. The warm, earthy tones, soft lighting, and tasteful decor created a welcoming ambiance that made me instantly feel at home. The café was clean, well-maintained, and the attention to detail in its design was evident. The menu at The New Cairo Café offers a delightful fusion of flavors, blending both local and international cuisines. I opted for the Mediterranean platter, which featured a mouthwatering assortment of falafel, hummus, tabbouleh, and freshly baked pita bread. Each dish was expertly prepared, bursting with authentic flavors that transported my taste buds to the Mediterranean coast. The presentation was impeccable, showcasing the kitchen's dedication to aesthetics and taste.

$6.50 for a large soup and great egg and cheese sandwich and a tea!! Yasser is an amazing host one you won't forget. This is a local hotspot. Honestly it would have been a mistake not coming here. I was having a pretty rough day so far and dropped my friend off at the er just down the road. I was feeling quite hungry after dropping my friend off and decided to come here after reading some reviews rather than the tims inside the hospital. For everything together I don't even understand how he makes a profit. This is my first review on Google as I felt I owed it to the Cafe as there isn't even a tip option on the card machine. Very genuine man providing greatly priced food to local people. Even has his Cafe in the burnaby monopoly! Amazing.
