Burnaby Public Library, Bob Prittie Metrotown Branch

Public library Library

😠 Library is closed for weeks due a minor fire incident. City of Burnaby needs to hire better contractors and not the overpriced lazy slobs, who barely works. People often mention library, books, staff, good, study, people, book, nice, Nice, friendly,

Great Big Branch! Two expansive floors (three if you count the administration level) that cover anything you may need - from computers to children’s books and more. I love atriums, always have. The atrium views, the majestic skylights high up above, the grandiose windows and tasteful artwork, make this space feel oh so magical.

Something that you might want to know that library is not only place for borrowing book or using computer but you also can ask them about community services. They help me when I need information about where can I find information about special needs child and all the support from community. They tried their best to get thr information I need. Thank you so much librarians!

This is my first time borrowing books in Vancouver. The staff is being nice and helpful, providing clear instructions and warm smiles. The library has quite a lot Mandarin books, and you can also reserve books in other branches online and pick up later.

Sizable library with quite a good selection of materials from CD's to books to DVD's. The children's section is pretty nice, and the library does a good job in promoting reading. The sessions with Jon are always fun for the kids. Staff is pretty helpful and there is a good sized underground parking lot.

Nice modern architecture. Staffs are friendly. They have $5 free credit for you to print every month. Other cities libraries should do the same for Canadians!

Most libraries are nearing obsoletion anyways and this is a prime example of why. Very static, boring place with limited amenities, half of the time washrooms are always closed, people aren’t offered much here and the selection at this location isn’t that great. Maybe turn this place into like a shelter or community centre instead? Cos it’s not much good as it is right now IMO

An oasis amidst the concrete jungle that is Metrotown! Love the new spacious entryway - the always courteous and well-trained, informative staff are centrally located (if not a little over-exposed to my comfort level), and the entire place is always clean and inviting! It's also impossible to ignore the thoughtfull staff suggestions for books/movies displayed out front! The only thing is that ghastly underground parking lot exit - keep your wits about you! It's a built-in exercise for patience and communication with other drivers/pedestrians. (Well, maybe that's a good design to force us all to be more community-minded? ISN'T THAT JUST LIKE A LIBRARY?!!👍 These places are gold.)

Nice area, nice staff but when it comes to silence area! It sucks! Every time that I went there, there were nonstop noises. People talk on phone loud or 2 friends with each other or children are playing or singing. So if you are sensitive to noises, it’s not a good choice!

Good library. Well organized and well maintained. Easy to search and find the books. There are computers as well which can be used for browsing. Especially for students. There are printers and scanners as well for reasonable price per sheet of paper. Kids love the place. Nice location.

A large collection of books, journals and digital content along with computers for user browsing, printouts, events for kids, friendly staffs, clean restrooms, parking. You have everything that would enable every generation to fall in love with reading again ❤️

Nice library, but website has misinformation. It says you can teturn books in outside book return. They don't exist.

BPL's record it shows there are 17 books that haven't been returned, they are labeled as missing. But actually I HAVE returned all of them all together through the slot on the library wall three years ago. (When the library is under construction, and on the day I returned the books, I called the BPL to check if the slot on the wall is avail for book return). I am 100% sure those were returned, and the librarian asked me to check the book shelf at home, it is very insulted and not fair. It is not my fault that the books are lost after I RETURNED them. Yes, my apology for return them late than due date, but they are NOT MISSING. I believe I returned all of them on Aug21,2022 Sunday between 1-4pm, please go check the surveillance, it's the library's fault that not check in for the returned book. The books are missing in library, it's NOT my fault!

Very nice library. Great selection of children's books. The grounds are lovely. The library is undergoing a remodel and I can't wait to see it once it is finished.

This is a huge place with poor management and terrible technology. My car broke down. I took pubic transport and explained to library staff that I had an important zoom meeting with a neurosurgeon regarding my brother. I asked for a private study room. They called the manageress Jarvis. She printed a list a facilities that were renting out conference rooms. I explained I only had one hour left and no car to move around. Rooms in that library were sitting unused but because of construction they would not allow anyone to open the rooms. I saw no construction inside those rooms. I was guided to the far corner of the library surrounded with people to hold my meeting. I connected to the WiFi but it kept getting disconnected. I ran for help and said the renowned neurosurgeon was waiting and I had connection problems. Jarvis was paged and she came and tried to help, without success. The internet had low bandwidth. I had turned off the video but even the audio wouldn't work. The Zoom kept getting disconnected with the wifi doing every 2 minutes. I was in disbelief. The meeting I had waited for so long just got wasted. This library is of standard that would make third world country leaders angry and yet it's sitting in the heart of Metrotown district in Canada. It's shameful.

My classmates and I came here to study many times during our program. It was a bit hard to book conference rooms that we needed for study groups and presentation practice. But when we did, we enjoyed the place. It sometimes got crowded and the tables in the rooms didn't seem to be wiped down even during covid years, otherwise we had great experiences. The staff are lovely and helpful!

The staff are very kind and friendly. It was easy for me to get on a computer 👩‍💻 and quickly print a few documents. Well maintained and easy to find. The flowers 🌺 in front of the library 📚 are beautiful ☺️.

Great library and I love the garden. We had a picnic and I didn't realize it was a place for off leashed dogs to run. Oops.

Very convenient location, close to the station and the mall. It has a big yard that people often lay down & get a tan in summer or read/take a nap between spring and fall. They also have a big multilingual section, so you can take your friends from abroad when they're missing their countries =]

Nice place, but no quiet place to study!! Although the library had a quiet area, there were still many people in those places discussing and talking loudly...they were not prohibited by the librarians.

I like the study area in this library on the 2nd floor. However, what I do not like is there are some people are eating food on the desk, especially smelly food, such as a hamburger, Chinese food, etc. Hope the library can control or not allow people not to eat smelly food in the study desk area.

😠 This 3 year, 251,000,000.00 project is being put in a family friendly neighborhood, with one 2 lane street. We have a large number of homeless in Burnaby, it would be hard press to find anyone that thinks spending this much money on a Rec Centre is more important than taking the homeless off the st...
