Rainy weekend brought us to The Dolar Shop in Burnaby. We each ordered the lunch menu. I love you get your personal hot pot . You choose you soup base and protein, starch (noodle or rice) and then how spicy you want. This includes soft serve ice cream in black cone as dessert. The restaurant is new and draws attention while walking around the Station Square area. The service was outstanding. The soup was flavourful. I would love to come back for dinner.

Amazing !!! Super interactive and fun. What a great concept. I found the restaurant very clean and felt safe with their covid protocols. Staff were friendly and helpful and service was very good. The food was amazing also. Can get pricey though if you want to try different things on the menu to cook in your broth but for a night out with friends, family etc it was worth the price. Expect to pay on average anywhere from $35-$55 /per person, depending on how hungry you are. Best to go in a larger group of 4 or more so you try more items on the menu. I will definitely be going back

Enjoyed the modern décor and comfortable booths. They have heavy duty, quiet functioning fans to draw out the steam from the tabletop burners (which was great, because we left with no smell on our clothes from the cooking). Ordered a variety of items a la carte (jumbo scallops, prawns, cuts of beef and chicken, spinach, cabbage, house shrimp pate, tri-coloured handcrafted noodles). The broth is regularly topped up by staff and the items are presented nicely on colourful trays. The price point is definitely very high, but one comes here for the dining experience of cooking your own food. They do offer some help-yourself starters and light desserts at the front of the restaurant, and the meal ends with an ice cream cone. Very memorable dining experience. Not an everyday dinner spot, but good for group gatherings, and the more the merrier for trying their selection of items!

Had an amazing time with my husband at the Dolar Shop today! We went for the happy hour deal, after 9pm it’s 20% off! Today’s service was phenomenal, we had Nikki as our server and I’ve never had such amazing customer service ever. 10/10 and would rate more if possible! Food was super delicious, top quality meats/ingredients! Their silver soup is my favourite broth ever for hotpot, super worth trying if you haven’t! If you ever get Nikki as your server, you’re in for a treat! Much thanks to her our experience just blew our minds!!! Oh and delicious ice cream at the end of the meal too! Perfect cherry on top to wrap up the night~ If you see this Nikki, thank you again for such an amazing night! Hope to see you again soon some day :)

I'm honestly not a huge fan of hot pot but this place was great! Service was great! Staff was friendly! I loved the personalised hot pots and unlimited DIY sauces. After all of the meat, veggie and soup, they finish you off with a soft serve ice cream. We spent around 50/ person.

A 5-star Hotpot experience for me! The setting was great, it was good for a party of 15 too. Loved the broth, quality of ingredients, choices of sauces which includes unlimited slices of oranges and crispy grapes! The service was fast and convenient. Loved cooking my own hotpot and choose which ever ingredient i wanted to cook. Also bonus, the complimentary ice cream was so YUMMY! Would love to have asked for a second 😍 Overall, i highly recommend it! Going in a group my work out better so you can order more and try out different ingredients!

This place is awesome, I love the personal hot pot, you can cook whatever you want and choose different soup base for your own pot. Everything is fresh and delicious, and you get free ice cream with cone. Also I love it sauce bars which you can make your own sauce just the way you like it. Overall it’s excellent, but is a bit pricey.

First time visit and scored the lunch set - regular beef with unlimited fresh noodles OR rice for $27.99 + $1.99 for a can of coke (diet coke available upon request). At first glance we thought it wasn't going to be enough food but we were wrong! With unlimited kimchee next to the infinite sauce bar behind the front desk and unlimited ice cream on a fresh sugar cone (which was absolutely delicious) .. you will be more than satisfied. We mistakenly ordered extra beef ($12.99) and pork shoulder ($14.99) as we were way to full and struggle to finish. The food quality and friendly service here are top notch. U can save 2% with cash payment. All tables receive a carafe of water with lemon wedges (nice touch). Will definitely return often!

Had an amazing dinner at the Dolar Shop by Metrotown! Before we ordered, I got to spin the birthday wheel and got a free meat platter- safe to say we were in a super good mood right from the beginning 😁 Broth: We ordered the vegetarian broth (3.5/5) and the popular chicken-based Silver Soup (4/5) Toppings: Big menu to order from, everything was very fresh & nicely plated Complementary: Snacks, fruits and vanilla ice cream (so good!) Service: Our waitress Grace was very friendly & attentive! They made us feel very special dining there on a special occasion Atmosphere: Bright, clean and aesthetic! The meal was on the pricier side for hotpot but we would definitely return ☺️

Always delicious and service is generally good. But for some reason the menu shrunk and many things are missing. With many new competitors opening hot pot restaurants, such as fatty lamb with their cheaper price and just as good if not better quality, why would anyone want to eat here? Dolar was cool when they opened, but nowadays they failed to keep up with the current market.

I've been to their Richmond location before and absolutely loved my time there! Wanted to check out the Burnaby location and see how the food, service, and atmosphere held up. The interior of the restaurant is definitely more modern compared to their Richmond location. I found the food to be amazing as always. The meat is extremely high-quality and the veggies are always fresh. However, I found the service to be less attentive compared to the Richmond location despite it being pretty busy at both locations. Love the food, but I'll stick with the Richmond location next time!

First time having Hot Pot and Dolar Shop gave me the best first time experience. The staff are so nice and friendly, they will explain everything if you don’t get it. They also ask you if you want them to make you their signature sauce, which we tried and it was phenomenal. Great selection for food, different broth and selections of meat and vegetables. Would recommend and will try again.

We went there with no reservation around 1 PM today. We were warmly welcomed by the ladies in the front and got us a table right away. They introduced side dish and sauce bar as well as how to order from the tablet. Food and the broth were chef kisses. Staffs always comes and check our table especially Sally who is really friendly and provided a great services. Honestly, I didn't expect these amazing services from hot pot restaurant but surprisingly we got them from here. The best part is the soft serve ice cream in a waffle cone (unlimited)!!

It’s a great dinner gathering venue with friends! Very busy at weekend night so you should make a reservation. The offer a wide selection in the menu but things are on the pricey side. The quality of the different types of meat and broth is good. You can easily spend CAD90 each person for a dinner. Service is attentive and the place looks clean and new.

Great new hot pot spot in Burnaby! One member of our party is vegan with a lot of allergies, so it was great to take her somewhere with a variety of options for once. Reserving was easy, the customer service was great, and the restaurant/menu are large. We will definitely be coming back.

This is a great place to eat and hangout. There is free parking. The soups they have are excellent and very flavourful. I really enjoy the sauce bar, mixing your own sauces is the best. I came here for the lunch combos mainly because they come with an ice cream at the end ahha. If you come here I would suggest you give yourself 1.5-2h to enjoy.

I've tried Dolar Shop in Burnaby for dinner and lunch. Yes, it can be on the expensive side, but I think it's worth it. The staff is amazing! Friendly, polite, and fast! Consistently the best customer service amongst Chinese restaurants. The exquisite soup is flavorful, the proteins and veggies are fresh, and the dipping sauce is fantastic. Does anyone know what ingredients are in the table-side sauce that the staff prepare? This is only offered at dinner time and you have to make your own sauce at the sauce bar. Lastly, this place is clean! I watched the staff thoroughly sanitize each table after a guest left - gloves, disinfecting spray and paper towels. This is very much appreciated! One of my favorite restaurants in the Burnaby area.

1st time visit. Came with the fam for Father's Day. The food was fresh and tasted good! People with Dairy-allergy, like me, I was told that basically 90% of the soup and sauces have Dairy in it (be aware and ask) I still had a good meal! They seemed understaffed, and our original server disappeared *You order off the table ipad, and we had 1 ipad with a group of 7... Definitely thought we needed another **Kimchi tasted great!!

It our first time here and was exceeded my expectations. The. Free refills , the food, the individual soup (my fave one, you don’t have to share with others). And the ice. Ream. All in all it was very good experience.

Very flavorful broth, and unique yet delicious sauce. I ordered the combo set, consisting of different kinds of mushroom, Napa cabbage, spam, and beef and pork meats. The vegetables and meats blend harmoniously with the sauce, which makes this place stand out amongst other hot pot restaurants. Another element that makes this place different is they have Kimchi as a side dish that you can take as many times as you want along with other dipping sauces. They give free ice cream as a dessert that completes the hot pot experience. Quite pricey for the portion size, but totally worth giving it a try!

Dolar Shop redefined "spicy = bowl full of chilies and oil" 🥵🥵🥵. I didn't know ordering spicy food was offensive to them, they filled my hot pot with a box of chilies that Walmart would charge $3.99 & I would use them for 1 week 😂 Unlimited desserts are good thou. Will not make this mistake again 🙏

Went for lunch. We were supposed to do the AYCE but didn’t make sense for the light-eaters, so we did the per-item. Portions were generous. Quality meats. Amazing broth. Free appetizers and desserts, with ice cream to top it off. I like how they have separate induction plates per person built into the table, but you can still share the broth if you’re with family. We’ve been here a few times already and consistent great service from the friendly staff. We summed up the total cost for 5 AYCE, against what we had, pretty much the same.

My hubby and I went there around 1:15pm, no reservation, got on the wait list for about 8 tables ahead of us. After 20 minutes, they called us in. We ordered two lunch set meal, I think is portion is good, my hubby want one more dish of meat. The price ranging from about 25-40ish, depending what you are ordering. I like how they have one mini pot yourself. The food are fresh and good, the soy sauce is delicious, it’s free to add additional sauce from outer sauce bar table. They offer free rice and noodles for lunch set. At the end when we are paying the bill, they offer ice-cream and they even asked if me and my hubby want refill. A little disappointed that they require a fee if you want to pay by credit cards unless you do a survey. Not sure if the survey can be done every time to waive the credit card fee though.

Service was very good and attentive and refilled our soups when necessary. The server made their famous dipping sauce for us and he knew it was our first time herem The soup broth base was also very delicious and clean tasting. However, portion wise the food was less than ideal and I would much have rather went to an all you can eat hot pot buffet and order more meat. Each order was around 40-50 before taxes.

First time trying Hot Pot at The Dolar Shop was a very good experience. Excellent food, atmosphere and the dessert station was amazing. We had a small hiccup trying to get one of our party of 5 personal burners working but after the staff quickly replaced it we were off to the races. I would definitely come here again.

It was my first time and it honest is a good time! I had the pork broth and it was really good! It is a bit pricier than other hot pot places but it's honestly not too bad. The staff were friendly and there are tables for big parties. You get your own broth so you can try others. Lots of menu items! Give it a try! I wasn't disappointed. You also get ice cream at the end which is a plus! The ambiance is nice and they play music and everyone is having a good time for social gatherings! Give it a try!
