room was a nice big size bed was comfortable but the sides of the bed being a box frame was harsh on the backs of our legs getting in and out. need to have a good carpenter to cut down the sides or something. as i understood from the manager talking about it .this was the only room (13)with this bed stile .as it was the model for the rest of the rooms so it will need addressing for future

Nightmare!!! Prior to our stay I was contacted a number of times by OYO from 2 weeks prior to our stay looking for payment despite the booking terms being 3 days before. The call centre agents kept saying they had tried the card unsuccessfully which was false and numerous times sent a payment link. Everything pointed to a potential scam so I ignored them and payment was successfully taken from my card automatically as and when it should have been! Arrived at the hotel at 5.45pm to a locked door with a number to call. The numbers provided were a mobile, that was switched off, and a recorded message which also clicked off when finished so we were unable to speak to anyone. After walking around the property for 20 minutes knocking on fire exit doors and looking through windows we headed into town for dinner and decided to try again later. We returned to the hotel around 9pm at which point there was someone sat at reception. No apology for being unable to check in and very blasé about the whole thing. Checked in and found our room. The rooms are basic and need updating but are clean. The walls are paper thin and the beds extremely uncomfortable so we got very little sleep that night. We were booked in for 2 nights but the whole experience led us to check out the next day and head home. There was no interest from the reception staff when we handed back the key and said we were checking out early. The location of the hotel is beautiful but this is the only thing it has going for it! Avoid at all costs.

Loved our stay here, the breakfast was absolutely amazing set us up for the rest of the day, the lady that served us our breakfast was outstanding very friendly and helpful, would definitely stay here again

Good location for Exploring North Yorkshire moors and convenient to Thirsk for all amenities. Rooms are comfortable and breakfast plentiful.

This is a nice hotel in a great location a couple of miles from Thirsk and at an economic rate. Excellent car park and lawns. Hotel was in very good order, clean and the receptionist very friendly and competent. As a function venue for weddings and meetings it has ample space with a large bar / dining area and adjacent function room. The bedroom was totally adequate, well decorated and seemed to have been refurbished recently to a high standard with excellent bathroom. Unfortunately the refurbishment did not include addition of sound installation between rooms a big downside with voices clearly audible from next door. Breakfast not included in room rate and was continental only on my stay, apparently due to chef being away. However, if you want a convenient inexpensive stay in a comfortable room the White Horse Lodge fits the bill.

Stayed here a few times in the last few years it is soulless but for what we need and the price it suits us but not any more, we received an email the evening before telling us there would be no kitchen facilities. Would have liked breakfast wasn't bothered about dinner as we go out and meet up with friends. No alternative cold breakfast was offered either, don't need a kitchen for that !! Had to pay on arrival which I queried and asked about a discount, lovely young girl who'd only been there for a week, no one else there to talk too, not her fault. We stay in room 4 as there's only three steps which suits my husband it was clean and tidy defiantly needs a new mattress, the sink plug didn't work the toilet flush button was missing towel rail didnt work so had to dry towls in the room and the television was very precarious on the wall and my husband had to balance it so it wouldn't fall off, the hairdryer didn't work. No one in reception most of the time just a number to ring which was never answered. Left dryer in room with a note to exchange came back that evening still there as no room service, all three days !!! The function room was full of unused old furniture, mattresses etc. This hotel certainly needs looking into !!

From the outside this hotel looks OK inside its soulless. The receptionist who booked us in was welcoming. To reach our room we had to walk through an area which was being used to store furniture from another hotel which had closed down. We stayed in room 2 and it wasn't great. Overall it was clean but there were about 50 pieces of blu tack dotted all over the ceiling. The carpet was in need of a giid clean. There was no plug for the sink in the miniscule ensuite and the shaver light wasn't working. The pillows were poor quality and flat. After finishing a drink in the bar I noticed black sludge in the bottom of the glass which I can only assume was from dirty pipes. Good choice of food at breakfast. Sausages were processed but at £7.50 it was good value. We only saw two staff members the whole time. They were doing everything from manning the reception, cooking and serving food, serving at the bar and cleaning.

Lovely B&B, couldn't expect anything more for £54 a night. Rooms clean and comfortable. Hospitality tray basic but plentiful. Shower small but adequate. Plenty of storage. Breakfast absolutely wonderful apart from the sausages. All staff pleasant. Excellent value for money and we would definitely stay here again. Thank you for a lovely stay x

Receptionist on booking in was quite surly, tried chatting but not very sociable. Hotel is beautiful but like a sauna. Heating far too high for all our party, not comfortable. Came back from our function just before eleven pm ready for a nightcap in the bar, but it was closed and noone available even to get milk etc. we had been told the bar closed at midnight.A lovely place with stunning views, nice rooms,comfortable bar, but needs a bit of sorting in some areas. We met family and friends there but we all agree it’s not somewhere we would recommend.

A basic little hotel, which is what I was looking for while I worked nights nearby. It's clean, the staff is lovely, and the price is good. I will stay again when I work nights in Thirsk.

We had a good, comfortable stay and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food available in the evening was very good, and the continental breakfast was good value
