I never expected such a gem of an island! The Quokkas. The Variety of accommodation. The staff and customer service. The Historical Education. The ease of getting around on eBikes, Scooters, etc. But the absolute AWESOMENESS stems from the Indian Ocean herself! So much to see via snorkel and dive...LOVED IT.

Our trip to Rottnest Island was an absolute highlight of our Western Australia adventure! The island’s natural beauty and diverse attractions left us in awe. Here’s a breakdown of our top three favorite places: 1. Little Salmon Bay - Marine Wonderland: ⛱️🐠 Little Salmon Bay is a paradise for water enthusiasts! The crystal-clear waters are perfect for both swimming and snorkeling. The marine reserve status ensures a thriving underwater ecosystem with vibrant coral reefs and a kaleidoscope of marine life. A must-visit for anyone seeking a tranquil escape into the wonders of the ocean! 2. West End - Seals Galore: 🌊🦭 The West End of Rottnest Island is a captivating spot for wildlife lovers. The rugged coastline meets the open sea, providing an excellent vantage point for watching seals. We were treated to an incredible show of these playful creatures, especially during the breeding season when adorable seal pups make their debut. An unforgettable experience for nature enthusiasts! 3. The Basin - Nature’s Rock Pools: 🏞️🏊‍♂️ The Basin, nestled on the southern side of the island, offers a unique natural retreat. The series of captivating rock pools are a geological marvel, inviting visitors to cool off in the clear, shallow waters. This spot carries cultural significance for the Noongar people, adding an extra layer of appreciation for its serene beauty. Hop On Hop Off Bus - Easy Island Exploration: 🚌 The Hop On Hop Off bus made exploring Rottnest Island a breeze! Its convenient routes and frequent stops allowed us to effortlessly navigate the island, ensuring we didn’t miss any of its gems. From Little Salmon Bay to the West End and The Basin, the bus made getting anywhere on the island so easy, enhancing our overall experience.

Staff at the centre were great! They helped me find my way around, book a bike and even suggested some great spots to see. My favourite spots were the Henrietta Rocks and Little Salmon Bay. To be honest, I don’t know what I would’ve done if the didn’t help me book a bike. If you’re planning a trip to Rottnest Island make sure you stop by the visitor centre!!

Oh yes, the quokka are SO cute. Catch the 7am ferry to get there at 7:30 while they are out and about (and there are no humans). Best place is under the trees between the golf course and oval; an entire family lives there and they don’t care if you come over and take selfies. One other tip: they say the hop on hop off bus doesn’t have narration, but occasionally you get a driver in a good mood who will tell you all about everything — especially early morning when the bus is empty.

Friendly bus drivers and gorgeous beaches :) quokkas seem to be most easily spotted in the main settlement area and not so much elsewhere. Unfortunately I can't cycle and my partner can but they only allow tandem bikes for people who can cycle but experience mobility issues. I understand the concerns which led to the aforementioned rule but :( just a heads up for fellow noobs at cycling.

Nice service, friendly staff. There are also lockers on the side of the building for your luggage if you need. They're about $5-$12 for 12 or 24 hours.

Rotto as it’s nicknamed is truly a special place to visit if anyone come to Perth.. it’s a great experience from the ferry ride to exploring this island with so much to see along the coast and the Wildlife in particular the QUOKKAS. They are genuinely the most precious and sweetest animal there is. So Rottnest is highly recommended for anyone wanting to visit

We bought Refreshments here, cool drinks snacks. Friendly helpful staff provide all the Information about the beautiful island and it’s dark history as a goal for Aboriginal People’s. We did a day trip from Perth so not much time to explore the island so we did the tour and visited the museum and had a swim and then a fabulous lunch, before departing back to Perth on the Fast ferry. The ferry ride was okay not too long. A must visit location, we’d regret not staying overnight. So serene.

Is conveniently located right at the end of the main ferry jetty. This place services the accommodation on Wajemup (Rottnest Island) and has a retail presence, selling artwork, hand made jewelry and Wajemup mementos. The staff are employees of the island board and super friendly, this is where you can collect keys for your accommodation unit and give them back at the end of your stay etc . They offer a lost and found service and will field many types of queries about island activities and services. Out the front are some comfy bench seats that are in the shade in the afternoon and are a great place to watch the boats in the bay or the people people and boats coming and going. There's also a full suite of public toilets around the back. This is where the self-serve hire lockers are. You can hire different size lockers for about $10 a day. The system accepts "tap and pay" debit and credit cards. (a very popular form of payment in Australia ) Quite an efficient system. The touch screen offers instructions in five different languages too. A hire locker saves you carrying all your gear around for the whole day. You can come back and access the locker anytime using a four-digit code which is set at the outset. Just come and pick up your gear before the hire expires and or you leave on the ferry which is right there. 😃

The lady at the visitor centre was lovely and helpful. The island itself is beautiful and well worth a visit. Sometimes signage is ambiguous when riding around but overall they are doing a great job and it seems to be quite eco friendly with the newer buildings. There are quite a few older accommodation buildings which are dated and possibly used for staff? If riding a bike probably best to wear your helmet. I was stopped by the local constabulary and warned about a fine..seriously! They obviously don’t have much to do. All in all it was a great day out.

Don't underestimate how much time you want to spend on the island. Our day trip was way too short, with only 5 hours. Wish we stayed way longer

Great place to spot the Quokkas. We did the bicycle tour across the island and only saw one Quokka (asleep; nocturnal animals). At the town Center we saw many Quokkas wandering around happy to contribute to a selfie ;)

First visit to Rottnest Island after so many trips to Perth. Ferry ride from Fremantle B Shed jetty took about 35mins. Staff at Visitors' centre was very helpful and patience. Bought the hop-on bus tour @$25/pax. You could do your homework first and decide which stop you would like to explore. Good to know the schedule of the bus. Enjoyed my bus tour and managed to stop 2 locations. Awesome day out with nice and cool weather@17°C.

What an amazing spot, I’d visit again. I’d definitely do the adventure boat and bike around the island. I’d stay away from the bud if the island is busy as they get really crowded.. don’t try to do to much..

Best way to explore the island is by bike (rent or bring your own): you'll have more reach than simply legging it and more flexibility than taking the bus. Lots of stuff to see and go to, so definitely take at least whole day to see it through. Oh yea, apparently the locals are friendly and like to take selfies with you.

Loved Rottnest Island. Visitor centre friendly staff. Shame that it is becoming loved to death. Despite all of the signs to NOT feed the quokkas people still do it. It is sad to see these lovely animals scavenging food and not living in their natural habitat. I'm sure at some stage the decision will be made to limit the number of visitors when something happens to the quokkas that will impact on their population.

Rottness island. You can ride a bike, catch a hop on hop off bus or catch a bus and stay on and see the whole island. You can go shopping, have something to eat or go to church. There is other things as well.

What a beautiful part of Australia and how lucky to share this awesome moment with a friendly Quokka! Would highly recommend visiting the island but one day, was not enough. A weekend at the very least but if I could have, I would have stayed longer. Bike riding, beautiful beaches, swimming, snorkelling, sightseeing and so much more. Next time I visit, I’ll definitely be booking accommodation and take my time to soak up the environment.
