I visited in mid-afternoon in late October. There were dark clouds threatening rain, but glorious blue skies were still peaking through. There was a serene atmosphere: where the vibrant autumnal colors painting the landscape amidst the soothing sounds of the various harmonies created by fast flowing water, which created spectacular falls, rapids, and whirlpool visuals in various areas were visually stunning, and walking atop crunchy and soggy fallen leaves underfoot made me feel giddy. Extraordinarily beautiful. There were a lot of solo hikers this day. It seems getting out in nature is a phenomenal way to clear one's head AND remind ourselves we have a Sovereign God who is truly the most divine artist! These few photos don't do it justice. I'll definitely be back with my hubby, so we can enjoy a longer trek together.

Visited via the Rockport access. Beautiful scenery despite some spots set up for construction. Buttermilk Falls and Luke's Falls are lovely and worth the short hike. Was only in PA for a short work trip, but would like to visit again and see more of the state park!

Great little place to get back to nature that’s close to home. Waterfalls were really cool. My daughter and I had a nice time. Bathrooms are on site as well!

The trails are a little hard find from the parking area but not impossible. If you like trains and biking this park would be perfect for you to check out.

Buttermilk falls is a nice walk about 10 -15 minute walk down a nicely maintained path ....the steps near the river are a nice place to sit and take in the nature ... Also bathrooms their are awesome compared to others on D&L Trail

Visited after hours on a Sunday. Park was at full capacity according to the park rangers. Creek/water was on the colder side being early July but refreshing given the hot summer day. The creek is good for kids but the access into the creek is a little tricky - it is muddy and on a decline/hill so be careful entering and exiting. Surroundings are well kept, some trash remnants from people but otherwise clean. Wish there was more benches, saw at least one but flat enough ground for picnic blankets etc. keep in mind they charge parking fee per car to access the grounds which is normal for the state parks in PA to keep it clean and functioning.

Me and my family went to White Water Rafting in Poconos Pennsylvania. It was an amazing experience! Thank you so much to the guides which were amazing, patient, and funny. Shawn was an amazing help. However, I would like to give a special thank you to Eric. Thank you for all the work you do and all the years of experience you shared with us… I’ll do this whole trip again, but this time not with my 8 year old because of the rapids and the dangerous rocks. Just for safety I won’t bring my little one to these kinds of trips! However, for adults this is an amazing and wonderful experience. You can eat there, they have fire pit and even a little bar. Thank you so much again to all the crew from White Water Rafting in Poconos.

The bike path is truly incredible. I was able to do 50 miles up and down on my road bike with gravel tires, so no need for a mountain bike!

We entered at the Rockport Access lot and did the 2 short hikes to Buttermilk and Lukes Falls. We had the flat, paved trails to ourselves and enjoyed views of the Lehigh River on a rainy weekday morning. This access has full, modern restrooms and boat access to Lehigh River. There's a small cave a short way up the hill on the paved road to a 2nd parking lot.

A beautiful area to ride or walk through. The trails have been slightly damaged by recent flooding and filled in some areas with very heavy or very fine gravel. It's important to pay attention so as not to lose control of the bicycle.

The trails have great views of the river and mountains, and the leaves are changing color right now, which really added to the depth and beauty of the place. Its a very beautiful place for a peaceful hike through nature! I would like to go back for another hike and to ride the train. Great for familys and pets!

There are many different entrances to access trails throughout the park so be mindful which trailhead you're looking for vs where to park. Each trail I hiked in the park was beautiful and I'd absolutely go back again!

This five star hiking (33 miles) and biking (26 miles) park follows the Lehigh River. If you start in Whitehaven, there's a bike rental place just before the park which also offers pick up service for your return trip. (picture). This section of the park was recently upgraded. Improvements include four handicap bathrooms large enough to bring your bike inside for security. Also new is a large hand carry boat ramp area (picture). Somewhat inconvenient is the requirement to park vehicles up the hill after disembarking. For oversized vehicles there is a field at the Rt 940 park entrance and a historic site nearby. The middle area of the park is Rockport. There are several hiking trails here including the Bald Mountain Loop and the Vista Trail. There are also some nice streams running down to the Lehigh River. This area also has a hand launch boat area. There is a limited amount of parking in this area. Most people consider the Glen Onoko area the end of the trail. There are several long parking lots here, but only a primitive outhouse facility. You'll also find another hand launch boat ramp. Nice views of railroad bridges and the nearby mountains make this section visually fun. There's a wood plank bridge you can drive over which makes lots of noise and is a little scary. After passing within a mile or two of this park for years, I finally stopped. Wow, what a gem! Rail trail, rafting, historical infrastructure for loading anthracite onto canal boats and trains, waterfalls. I wish I had visited sooner.

This is a beautiful area, such crisp fresh air. The path is wide & level, easy to walk, ride bikes, use a stroller, etc. The 2 waterfalls, Buttermilk Falls and Luke Falls are lovely and so easy to view right along the path. I highly recommend visiting.

We really enjoy the bike train and cycling the 25 miles back to Jim Thorpe. We are a group of geocachers that enjoy caching along the trail. So much beauty and history.

Absolutely gorgeous park and path down the Lehigh River. Took the shuttle service out of Lehighton Outdoor Center (highly recommend!), can't wait to go back and enjoy this beautiful area again and again.

We did the bike path from Jim Thorpe heading west. We went about 12 miles out before turning around. The river is beautiful, and the hills are magnificent with little waterfalls to be found. Trail is wide enough for a car, packed stone chips, but not too dusty. Parking is a bit tight in town, and you'll have to pay . Park just outside of town for free and along the trail. Your adventures await!

Beautiful trails for walking, running or riding a bike. A lot of shade along the trail, making it ideal for bringing your dog, which I did and she loved it.

Very well taken care of, very helpful and attentive staff, and overall... it's a beautiful park to visit. Biking or hiking, just explore or go on an adventure, it's a great time for all. 🙂👍

My brother is recovering from a broken toe and my mom had sandals but this was a nice leisurely stroll for them. Beautiful river and fall views

Well kept, clean park. Lots of photo opportunities along the hikes. The waterfalls are very relaxing and the paths are easy to hike.

Beautiful well maintained trail with picnic tables interspersed along the way. If riding roundtrip, I recommend starting northbound and returning southbound. Even though the trail seems relatively flat, it actually goes uphill as you head North.

Sound of water very pleasing! The view is beautiful and satisfying. Very peace and calm nature place.
