Nice beach starting just south of the Cape Byron Headlands. Compared to Byron Beach in the north it is much less crowded. The northern part is in walking distance from the town center of Byron Bay. As i've only been to the northern part of the beach, i can only speak for that but there were no live guards around when i went there so you'll need to be careful when going into the ocean.

Contrary to popular belief this is Not a dog beach. Controlled Dogs are only permitted on the section North of Gaggin Park to the edge of the National Park 500m South of Tallow Creek. Protect wildlife.

Tallow Beach: A serene stretch of unspoiled shoreline, where the sea and sky embrace in perfect harmony. This is metered parking ($5 per hour) with toilet facilities and picnic spots. It is a popular beach for surfers.

Very cool, not busy beach! It has a neat, little inlet/lake with neat colored water. We enjoyed spending time here.

Beautiful surf beach. No shade, long walk if you’re carrying stuff and extremely difficult for kids to swim in with being in danger. Wouldn’t recommend if you want to have a good swim.

Gorgeous beach to walk along (massive so need a lot of time). We went to the Suffolk parking lot to take a look around, and there was ample parking late in the day

Saw many large pods of dolphins swimming! Beautiful beaches, not as crowded as the main beaches in Byron

While the main beach is buzzing, people everywhere, and is patrolled. Tallow beach is quiet. We went a few mornings and just about had the beach to ourselves. The sand is soft, little waves, crystal blue water. Divine.

One of my most favourite beaches in Australia. It’s absolutely amazing! Very quiet place, almost no people around. Both water and beach are very clean. Squeaky sand. You can also spot kangaroos here!🦘

My god what a beautiful beach. This is one of best places to go and no people around. Only the downer. The parking is $4 / hour a kind of a rip off.

Stunning beach and one the good ones to take your dog when in Byron Bay. Most of the beach is off leash although there are parts where on leash is required. The water is stunning and there's some shaded spots under the trees along the route which is great. Lengthy walks along the beaches and pleasant views of the lighthouse too. Can get busy during peak times and there's plenty of dogs there usually for your dog to socialise with.

TALLOW BEACH - MUST SEE Tallow Beach is a picturesque beach located in Byron Bay, New South Wales, Australia. It is a stunning stretch of coastline known for its natural beauty, serenity, and scenic surroundings. It can be accessed by taking Suffolk Park Road and turning onto Alcorn Street, which leads to beach access points. Natural Beauty: Tallow Beach is renowned for its unspoiled natural beauty. It features a long, sandy shoreline backed by lush vegetation and rolling sand dunes. The beach is flanked by Arakwal National Park, adding to its scenic appeal. Dog owners can bring their furry friends to enjoy the sand and water, provided they are kept on a leash and under control. Walks and Nature Trails: Tallow Beach is part of the Cape Byron Walking Track, which extends along the coastline. Visitors can embark on scenic walks that take them through coastal rainforest, offering opportunities to spot wildlife and enjoy panoramic views. Clothing-Optional Section: The southern end of Tallow Beach, known as Tyagarah Beach, has a clothing-optional area. This section is popular among naturists and offers a more liberating beach experience for those who prefer clothing-optional recreation. Parking and Facilities: Tallow Beach has parking available near the beach access points, but it can get busy during peak times. Facilities such as public toilets and showers may be limited, so it's advisable to come prepared with necessary supplies. Tallow Beach offers a serene and scenic coastal experience for visitors looking to relax, surf, enjoy nature walks, or spend time with their furry companions. Whether you're seeking solitude, a surfing adventure, or a leisurely stroll along the shoreline, Tallow Beach provides a beautiful setting to enjoy the natural wonders of Byron Bay.

What a serene beach to enjoy. If you like calmness and privacy this is the best beach in Byron Bay. The Main beach was too crowded so we went to this beach to enjoy our romantic time. One caution - this beach is not monitored by any lifegurad and the waves are quite big. Perfect for surfing but of you go there just for swimming then stay close to the shore. Also it required some walk within the Arakwal national reserve to reach this beach.

A rugged, beautiful, wild beach. Also feels so remote given it is right next door to Byron main beach.
