It is a wonderful place for all your senses. A very good place for hiking, horse riding, relaxation and inner reflection. SuperB kitchen with meals prepared with care from local and organic producers. A gem on the Spanish rural county side!

This place is a piece of heaven on Earth. Communication with Alvor immediate and very friendly sending several emails about activities, menu options, and location details. Very thorough check in and orientation by staff. Rooms minimalist and peaceful. Lovely main building with library/TV room, lounge area with couches and fireplace, dining area and honor bar, a lovely communal space. Outdoor space beautiful with private seating areas and hammocks throughout. A fantastic natural pool area with cabanas and sun loungers. Can book horse rides through the surrounding mountains, and several easy and medium self-guided hikes through cork oak forests and sheep grazing in the fields. A night walk up to an observation area for spectacular star watching. Really good breakfast and dinner made with local farm-to-table produce. Can arrange a picnic lunch if out hiking, or a quick 10 minute drive to Grazelema for lunch. We appreciated the calm with no TV in the room to distract from the beauty around. For those wary of being disconnected, wifi at the property is great and you can easily stream if you can't stand to be off grid. This family run farm-stay is peaceful, quiet, and a true get away. Safe Travels 🇨🇦

Beautiful hotel with amazing surroundings and spectacular pool area. We had an amazing experience, it was so peaceful and secluded. They also served a really delicious 4 course dinner for 25 Eur/person. Absolutely great value for money. Look no more, this is the place to go.

We had a wonderful 5 nights at Tambor a month ago. Loved everything about it - it’s the perfect blend of stylish, very good service, amazing food, natural, homey and rustic all at the same time! We hiked, relaxed, and did day trips from this lovely base. It was recommended to us by Carlos Rodriguez from Explore La Tierra. So happy we stayed at Tambor. Thanks Nanu for the hiking options advice too. And the special lamb dinner was hands down, the best roast lamb we’ve had (and we are from Australia, nation of the lamb roast!).

We only stayed one night (unfortunately!!) but what a wonderful time we had. Food was incredible, the place was extremely cosy with the fire and the beautiful stars. The staff was exceptionally kind and the animals were so cute on the farm. Thank you very much all for making our stay amazing. They also fitted in a last minute request for a 2h horse riding in the morning, which was the best experience to have at the end of our stay. The estate is located on a beautiful area of the mountains! Super comfy rooms too, I slept like a baby.

Everything was just great: the surroundings, the comfort, the food (dinner was also very good), the natural pool that is surrounded by nature! What’s more, there are 4 hiking routes directly around the house. And there are horses for horse riding in the area (also for those who don’t know how to ride a horse; than you can make a guided tour on a horse through the wonderful mountains in the surroundings). A paradise for nature lovers in the Sierra de Grazalema!! Unfortunately, we only had 1 night at this lovely little hotel. I wish we could have staid at least 3 more .. to relax, enjoy the place and discover the rest of the natural parc….

Stayed with a group of friends and we were miss sold a hike that was a walk in circles around fields. The 2 small dogs bark all night long. The food was disappointing and we were underwhelmed with this stay - the pool was the highlight. Rooms are okay , cleaned and simple.

Stop reading…BOOK NOW! This is a magical place. My wife, 16 yo daughter and I stayed for 2 nights and had a wonderful time. The facilities are beautiful. The room was perfect. Breakfast was fantastic. There is an “honor” bar for coffee and drinks later in the day. We had dinner k r night. The food and service were top notch and the views…spectacular. We hiked on the property which was delightful (we took short <1 hour hikes) but there are maps and apps with longer hikes). The pool is so so nice. & finally the people…all the staff we met were so nice, hard working, dedicated and friendly. The eco-conscious attitude was greatly appreciated. We were sad to leave and hope to be back soon!!!!

Horsebackriding is also a great experience their. Thanks Nano for this amazing trip with the horses

We loved our stay at Tambor del Llano. It’s such a lovely place to get away from it all and in an amazing location. The staff are lovely and there is a real family feel. The horses are well cared for and I love the whole philosophy behind what they are trying to achieve. Thanks to all the staff and Raul and Carmen for the incredible horse rides in beautiful scenery! Can’t wait to come back next year.

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this location. The horseback riding experience, complete with a knowledgeable instructor and stunning scenery, was truly amazing. I also highly recommend taking a hike. The team were all lovely and I would come back! There are a few areas that could use improvement. Specifically, the dinner options seemed overpriced. For example, a 40 euro PP meal with a simple salad then a stewed apple with yogurt did not feel like a noteworthy dining experience, especially when compared to the options available in town. Adding a bottle of wine to the meal brought the total cost to over 100 euros for two people, which is very high for Spain - the quality/prep of the Lamb and Fish were fantastic though. Additionally, the classical very formal music played in the main room made for a slightly stiff atmosphere, where whispering felt almost mandatory. A more relaxed vibe could be achieved with jazz or Spanish music. Despite these minor details, I still had a fantastic stay :)

This was paradise. We loved every second of our stay. The rooms are very nice with big good beds and a good bathroom. In the dining area you can make your own drinks and fill your bottle with water. For 25 euro you can have a 3 course dinner. Not high fancy food but plain home cooking. The pool is great with bubbles every half hour and in the garden you can swing in the hammock while overlooking the meadow with horses. There are a lot of hiking possibilities long ones and short ones. And do visit the white villages in the neighbourhood. We would love to come back some day.

We had a lovely stay in Tambor del Llano. We really enjoyed the quiet and relaxing location, the good food and the friendly service from Carmen and the rest of the team. The hiking routes around the hotel and further allowed us to enjoy the beautiful nature. It was also great to enjoy relaxing dips in the pool. We would love to come back in the future!

We stayed at the Hotel for a wedding. The setting is simply beautiful, it really is like paradise, the rooms are lovely. The owners/hosts Lino and Varvara, are amazing. They could not do enough for us. I would like to thank them both from the bottom of my heart for helping make the day such a success and making it feel very personal for the Happy Couple. The amount of work and preparation for these things is immense, they managed to do everything that was asked for and more. Once again thank you both, you are very special people, with a very special hotel.

Sadly we have contacted directly but all emails have been ignored. The hike was a walk around fields that you can easily navigate yourself, so surprised we paid for that, the food was disappointing, featured heavily oiled potatoes, lack of veggies and one night looked like the lamb had already been eaten. The electricity flicked on and off in our room, we spent every day out because we got quite fed up and wish we hadn't and booked half board. We love staying at natural places, but this was underwhelming. The pool is beautiful and of-course the horses.

Great countryside hotel and perfect base camp for visiting Sierra de Grazalema. The hotel and property are fabulous and the food is very good as well.

Pros: - Beautiful location in Grazalema national park. - some good walks. Our favourite was TBLL10. A nice varied 14km circular walk from Tambor del Llano that gives you a nice taste of the national park. We did this on 30th December (22 degrees and very sunny). Ideal weather. The walking is fairly exposed. Take plenty of water, and the ‘outdoor active’ app was great/ essential to navigate the route. - good breakfast - simple but tasty dinner. Very friendly waiter. - 2 to 3 days is a good length of time here. Cons: - some rooms are really much nicer than others. I would request an ‘exterior room’, preferably facing east to make the most of the view and morning sun. - our room upstairs inside the main building was very noisy. The architecture of the building is pleasant and the wall of crittall-style windows facing east comes into its own in the morning. But the design of the bedrooms upstairs is deeply flawed. The ceilings are vaulted and the partition walls are very very thin. There is no sound insulation. We may as well have been sharing a room with our neighbours and were kept awake by them watching TV on their laptop, talking etc. This is a deal breaker and kind of ruined the stay for us. I would give 4 stars if it wasn’t for this.

Wow, where do I start. Tambor de Llano is a magical place and one hard to put into words, I had my wedding their this August so it will be a place that I will remember for the rest of my life. Not only does it boast the most stunning views I have ever seen, it almost looks like an African Savannah, completely remote and peaceful but the owners and staff at Tambor are incredible humans. I get teary thinking about how they went above and beyond for us to give us an experience of a lifetime. I am a wedding designer so I have worked with many venues in the past but the service we received from Lino, Varvara, Alvaro and many others was amazing. We will be forever grateful for them opening their land and home to us, and we will be back every year to see the stars we married beneath, we love you, and thank you so much!!! Opi & Joy xx

We had a perfect two night stay at Tambor del Lano. The first thing we said to each other when we arrived was that we had to came back to this great location. Tambor del Lano is situated in a quiet coroner of the Sierra de Grazalema which is perfect for relaxing. At the same time there are so many activities like hikes and horse riding you can do, all starting from the beautiful domain. We had a wonderful time hining around Grazalema and viewing it from a top the mountain next to the lake. Afterwards we enjoyed relaxing by the magnificent pool at Tambor del Lano. We are definitely coming back and recommend this stay to anyone who loves peace, quiet and nature!

Absolutely fantastic. It is a wonderful place to spend your time and I would definitely go back. The in-house kitchen is very good and there are so many things to do without even leaving the property. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed the beautiful nature of the area, it is truly stunning. The pool area is incredible and we soaked in the nature. We literally barely saw an employee here the whole time, you self check in to grab keys but we required a bottle opener and after opening all the drawers in the common area near drinks section couldn't find one, and no one to ask which would have been helpful for questions we had. We booked the horse riding the day before we arrived but no one replied to my email, so I sent a whatsapp booking for one hour the following day (we stayed 1 night, so the only other day we could do) and then in the morning when we are ready for this and got up early to go riding they tell us there was some confusion and it's only a 2 hour ride. We had confirmed a one hour ride on whatsapp the day before as my girlfriend has a sore hip, so then we didn't manage to go riding at all - very disappointing ! This place is very remote, and the point was to go riding here, so we missed out on this opportunity completely. The room was nice but the bathroom looks like a hospital toilet with florescent lights and no charm. You come here for the nature but expect to be left to your own devices! Expect much better service given the price and the fact you are coming in a very remote area

An absolute delight of a place. Total relaxation from that second that we arrived. We spent the afternoon next to the amazingly unique pool area and had a lovely evening meal on the marvellous terrace setting. The following morning, we did a 2 hour horse riding trek, despite being absolutely beginners Raul made us feel completely at ease. It was an excellent way to see the beautiful surrounding landscape. Unfortunately, we only booked for 1 night.
