Tourist trap. I hardly leave reviews but this was so bad I couldn’t help but warn travelers. Entree portions were incredibly small (see photos using a normal fork for plate size comparison). Food was mediocre and not quite local food (we only ate it because we were starving and the prices were so high to get our money’s worth). Our pork dish was over cooked. The staff barely speaks English which is odd since their menu is in English. The staff was unprofessional, they even started eating their dinner about an hour before closing time with half the dining room filled. Tax was not included. This place is 4-5 flights of stairs up - you’re better off saving your energy and going somewhere else. I understand that I shouldn’t expect everyone to speak English here but if the food was great, fast, and decently priced, I would be totally happy. That was not the case here.

Mountain Retreat is on the top (5th?) floor of what feel like a very long walk up staircases! After “hiking” up the staircase, you are rewarded with great views and delicious Vietnamese food. Everything we ordered was delicious. They have an an outdoor section and an inside section that is basically outside but covered. Note sure if they have AC but the “indoor” section felt cool. I would definitely return to try other dishes here!

WARNING: RESTAURANT REQUIRES YOU TO CLIMB UP 5 FLIGHT OF STAIRS! BUT IF YOU DO MAKE IT..... It is a great place for a rooftop dining experience! Came early as i didn’t had lunch, so it was a lunch/dinner session so restaurant was empty. Ordered a few dishes including the soup which was interesting! Really love the local tea as it compliments the dishes very well (and great when you’re sick of beer for a bit...) Highly recommend for the food and view. Coming about 5-6+ is best to see the sunset and the view. Place is entirely outdoors so don’t expect aircon.

Placed on the fifth floor in a small alley, the restaurant looks cozy with interesting decoration. The food tastes really good, mostly VN traditional dishes. We booked and ordered food in advance that they served very fast. Highly recommend this one. Reasonable price.

As for mountains you need to climb (5 floors) to deserve the food and the view , but you will not be disappointed. Restaurant offer wide choice of Vietnamese food and on the top some good vegetarian options. Service is fast ( faster than most restaurants I visited so far in HCM) and waitress are very efficient. On the top because your are in mountains you can enjoy the view of busy D1 at night.

Chicken wing sauté 65k Garlic fried rice 85k Clay pot Braised chicken 65k Pork fried egg 65k Water 25k Over all Everything was well cooked and had great flavor. Portions are fairly small. My wife and I shared those 4 dishes and were satisfied. The egg dish was overly salty and the chicken wing sauté had some bone fragments due to the style of portioning chicken in Asia. The view is nice but will be much better when they finish the construction in the street. The staff is attentive and handled our group of about 24 well with other customers in the restaurant. Food comes out Asian style(in pieces when it’s ready). It was a warm day and they managed to keep everything cool even with the open air concept. The roof top would be a great place for a group after dark.

Good place to enjoy Vietnamese Homecooked food with great view of the city. The restaurant is not as packed and crowded compared to the likes of Secret Garden & Den Long. Taste wise, the they are pretty much the same. It is recommended to make reservations before you come. I went on Tuesday, walk in and lucky to have a table for the 5 of us. The location is pretty hard to spot, hidden in an alley beside the Mini Stop convenience store. Walk straight and the entrance to the rooftop is on the right. You will have to climb a flight of stairs to get to the rooftop on the 6th? floor.

Such a romantic place to have dinner. The view is so amazing. Staffs are friendly. Foods are nice. You need to go inside the alley 36 on Le Loi street. Then you will see a green door the right. Turn into the apartment and go up to the 5th floor. Then you will see the restaurant.

Hideout place with great vietnamese cusine dishes. Hower, I was dissapointed about the service, they more forcus on foreign guys, we did not finish our drinks after main meal yet, but they jumped into and sent the bill informing that we had to move cause they have another guess. Omg, they did not ask for our idea if we were ok or not. Just jumped - sent the bill and moved. Too much unpolite. Pros: Good food. Cons: Cocktail is not good. Service as I mentioned above.

You need to reserve as this place is quite popular with locals and expats! Food is great, decent service and a relaxing vibe! The only problem is you will need to take the staircase up for 5-6 floors as there are no lifts!

Very ordinary; the food tasted more Chinese than Vietnamese and it's overrated considering all the reviews it's getting online. We ordered the pan fried pho, beef skewers and a salad. They all tasted alright; we walked away feeling pretty unsatisfied with our meal.

Location: actually 36/xxLe Loi boulevard, in the alley of 36 Staff: we were the early bird, came at 10:30 so only us and 10 staff and they were not really nice but not so bad to be honest Food: so so. Food display was bad, not well organized as it should be at its price.

Affordable, quirky and absolutely delightful. Chairs are a little rackety but the entire experience climbing up to the 5th floor and the cramped seating all gave the experience a little bit more authentic vibe. English speaking staff with menu to go along.

👍 I've been there 2 times. The First time Everything was perfect! 😠 It's a street full of pubs. That's about it. Blaring musics. Girls dancing on stage. Tourist. Not recommended. Too noisy. But what really put me off is the people... There can be up to 5 persons grabbing my arms my bags to lead me to their pubs. I have to constantly struggle to keep their hands off...

😠 They have tried the best to serve the best their chef can cook the Margarita Pizza, however either they do not know how to make pizza or making fool out of customers.
