Visited in Feb 2023 Dong Pho is the place to goto is you want to try out a variety of local cuisine dishes. We tried a variety of things and felt that any dish with some pork preparation was really good. Tried a few spring rolls too and they were decent. We only had a limited pho options to order from as some of the items on the menu weren’t available, and the one we tried wasn’t that good. All in all, try the pork dishes - that would be my suggestion. Also the interiors of the restaurant are very beautiful which makes the ambience quite nice. Service was ok. Prices are reasonable. If you want to try out good Vietnamese food in a nice seating ambience, you should visit this place.

Beautiful food but really poor service, and bad attitude by management (French owners?). Never in all my years have I had such a bad experienced and I don’t like to write bad reviews but I’m just being honest. Booked this restaurant based on the hundreds of glowing reviews online. Arrived at the time we book but the staff already seemed frazzled and confused - not a great sign but we got seated. Huge menu with wide selection of dishes. We ordered, and the food arrived really fast. No wine list when we asked - they just asked if we preferred white or red. That was it , and two glasses arrived, no idea what variety of wine it was and he was gone before we could ask. Food was all delicious and fresh, and we were very happy. But then the service just suddenly stopped all together - staff were blatantly ignoring us! Ironically this was as tables started leaving, so service should have improved if anything. We eventually caught the attention of a staff member and asked for a dessert menu which they brought. And then waited another 10 minutes but again we were being ignored by every staff member again. Couldn’t even get the bill ! So we decided to walk to the counter and pay & leave as we were clearly not made to feel welcome anymore. Well, management were clueless with regards to the table bills and quite frankly didn’t really give a damn about anything. Incredibly bad attitude. We then wanted to pay with a contactless credit card on my mobile phone but they just pretended they had no idea what this payment form was. We’ve been using contactless mobile phone payment for a week in Saigon and never had a single issue anywhere - Covid has made everyone use this convenient payment method. We ended up paying in cash with a mix of USD and VND. Such a sour end to what was a pleasant evening. Completely unexpected and unnecessary attitude from the French owner/ management, and the opposite experience to what we’ve had at every other establishment during our time in Saigon.

Up market restaurant that serves Vietnamese Hue style food and French deserts. Menu do have English descriptions to make it easier for foreigners to order. The food is simply delightful here, with the taste of the dishes well balanced with the sauce condiments. Personal favourites are the tiny clams paired with the toasted rice paper and tiny clams (again) with rice & shrimp paste. Portioning sizes are small but good for sharing if you just want to taste everything. Quite a few dishes contains rice flour and it will fill you up quickly.

Definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Ho Chi Minh city. It serves the middle Vietnamese cuisine, mainly Hue. We were the first time here thus we just ordered the two different taste menu. Each menu contains 4 dishes and one dessert. I must admitted that menu is too much for me. I was just too full but really enjoyed all these delicious food. The service is most of the time very good. The staffs are kind and very helpful. Only one thing to be improved was that he once delivered the next dishes before we finished the last one. So our table was a bit full and therefore I felt that I need to rush to finish the last one. There are english on the menu thus even foreigners could easily order. But it’s a big menu. Thus I think the taste menu is a good choice for solo client, couples, or people who visit here the first time and have no idea what to order. You could try lots of different things in small portions with reasonable price at 550k or 650k. ( salad rolls, rice steamed dumplings, various deep fried stuffs, vermicelli or rice, sweets) They also offered vegetarian menu set 400k. The restaurant is also very clean. The building is a bit French exotic style. Overall I would definitely recommend people to pay a visit in HCMC.

I ate dinner here last-minute. It was very quiet at 5:30 PM on a Wednesday. In fact, for about 20 minutes, I was the only person here. The place and the staff were nice. I had two dishes: the Pork and Mushroom Stuffed Dumplings (I think, though they might be called Pork and Mushroom Stuffed Wraps), and the Bun Bo Hue. Plus a 7 Up. The Pork and Mushroom dish was good. Nice and filling. I didn't expect that. I was planning to treat it like an appetizer but it was actually quite filling itself. The Bun Bo Hue was just OK. Not bad, not great. A little light on the noodles and beef. But the difference between these two dishes is only 10.000 VND I believe, and I felt the value was better with the Pork/Mushroom dish. That was a good dish. But for ~350.000 VND for the whole meal, I think it's maybe a bit too expensive for what it is. Not a bad experience, though. Worth checking out maybe a time or two.

We ordered the Dong Pho menu (Menu Dégustation). In five courses you get a real nice variety of dishes. They don’t use much spices in the base case, but you can also ask for completely non-spicy. We very much enjoyed every dish. Perhaps the only comment is that the 5 courses were served very quickly one after the other (but that may be a European feeling - we are used to having a bit more space in between). Anyway, highly recommended and not expensive for what you get!

Upmarket Vietnamese restaurant with main clientele being Vietnamese locals. Wide menu - not just Pho. Service/food/quality all very good. Easy for English speakers as well.

A fine dining Vietnamese resturant with French influence. Prices are high. Young male waiter just ignore our request to add more cracker because he doesn't understand what we want until we spoke to another experienced waiter.

The restaurant is clean and spacious. Service is excellent. Presentation of the food is very well done. The actual food only rates four stars. The air conditioning is not over done. The restrooms are clean and well stocked. Motorcycle parking is across the street with security. Don’t know if it is free. I expect so.

Superb! Really super good. Price is upper end but manageable. Do make reservation first if you may. Cozy environment, good food, best service you will get. Staffs will patently explain to you how to best consume the food in its authentic way.

A charming local restaurant in a eclectic neighbourhood, set in modern-era French architecture and decor, popular local cuisines were well curated, elegantly presented, and most importantly, tasted great. And great service too! Will I visit again - Absolutely!

This was probably one of the best meals I had in Vietnam, mainly because I got to try dishes I wouldn’t normally order - and it really did feel like local Vietnamese / French cuisine. Price wise, it wasn’t super expensive or super cheap but worth everything I tried.

This place don't accept credit card for bills below 100.000 vnd. They also don't have Momo or bank transfer. So if you don't have cash on hands, beware. They won't serve you. The food is good though. Ice cream is just a bit too sweet for my taste. Also, I've been here plenty of times but I have to say the waiters are not what I would call fine-dining level. They don't have the professionalism or genuine of real Hue.

Very authentic Huế cuisine. Being from Huế myself, I grew up eating a lot of these dishes and wanted to try to compare it to my parents' and auntie's cooking. The dishes here are like they cook it! I got both of the variety plates to try everything. If you're undecided or want to try everything, it's highly recommended. There are steamers, boiled, fried, wraps, everything. The menu has a splash page will outline the options.

Food was well cooked but bland. The waiter didn't talk, smile, and was borderline rude. The building was beautiful.

The food was good but if they want to be an upscale restaurant, they should really expand and fix up their restaurant space. The interior design is just okay. They put us at some random dessert place while we’re paying the same prices for dinner as everyone else. We had to speak up to ask to change our seats and they would move us to a table that’s actually within the restaurant. The service was just okay. Not like super friendly but not rude. Just…meh…. I would expect nicer service attitude and better atmosphere for a restaurant that’s way more expensive than all the other restaurants in Vietnam

Many delicious dishes and authentic Hue flavor. The desserts here are killers as well. Perfect place to try out all the bits of Hue royal cusine

Very good French Vietnamese food. Nice atmosphere and old classic style. Enjoyed the meal. Multiple dishes and only a few pictured. Nice service and clean place.

Great Vietnamese restaurant specializing in dishes from the central region, particularly Hue; but they have other specialties and even a French corner in the menu. Set-up in an old style villa, with kitch decor, it reminds me when I first arrived here 25 years ago. The service is casual, but nice, Vietnamese style, so don’t expect too many ronds de jambe, but they deliver nicely. The food is nothing short than fantastic, and not because I am French, my wife agreed as well. My new favorite Vietnamese restaurant in Ho Chi Minh city.
