Saigon Central Post Office, a blend of functionality and heritage, has transformed into both a working post office and a tourist attraction. The vintage architecture captivates visitors, offering an ideal backdrop for photos and a chance to purchase souvenirs. However, prices may be on the higher side. Conveniently located and free to enter, the post office attracts crowds, so be prepared for potential congestion. Despite the occasional crowds and pricey souvenirs, the historical significance and architectural charm make Saigon Central Post Office a notable stop for those exploring Ho Chi Minh City.

Easy to find, beautiful building. They offer posting services and sell cards and souvenirs. I was going to post a card back to my country and sadly a postal staff member was having a rude attitude towards me and my girlfriend when trying ask questions about posting. We didn't do anything wrong other than asking for help. This is not acceptable, this woman doesn't fit to work with public service. This is the reason for the low stars, otherwise its a good and affordable place and I would give it a 5 star if it wouldn't be for this rude woman.

Built in the late 19th century when Vietnam was under French Indochina rule, it displays a fascinating blend of Gothic, Renaissance and French architectural influences. It has become a popular tourist destination. This historic site serves as the central post office for the entire city of Saigon. Visitors have the opportunity to purchase postcards and send them back to their home countries as souvenirs. Additionally, beautifully designed magnets are available for you to take home as keepsakes. Such a beautiful post office that is still in operation. It has been very well maintained and still has a lot of charm. We posted some letters to our family in India. It's definitely worth a visit and so beautiful to see!

This is a very nice and interesting place. Still functioning post office and the tourists may even buy post cards or cards to send to their loved ones back home because apparently, slow mail is still very popular here. The souvenir shops also sell many interesting trinkets and tokens for you to buy home. Beautiful. One of the places to come to if you are in the area.

Saigon Central Post Office, which lies in the heart of Ho Chi Minh City and is next to the Notre Dame Cathedral, is a must-visit destination for any traveller on their first trip to this city. Built around 1886 – 1891, the post office is both one of the oldest and yet most iconic buildings in the city.

Nice historical place and it's interesting that this functions till today. Lots of tourist come here for good photo point and also send post cards from here to love ones via snail mail. Building is well renovated and have a cafe beside this place. There are lots of smaller cafes around the area and very popular among the locals too.

A must visit to send post cards to your friends and family back home Here are some tips that'll help Parking ( if you have a 2 wheeler) : There is a space that is on the right side of highland coffee - 20k if I'm not wrong Once you are inside the post office - Step 1 : find the post cards on the left. They have some fancy vintage looking ones as well - Step 2: Write on your post cards with a To, From and message. Be vary that you might have to stick around 3 stamps ( India, USA, UK) - Step 3: Go to the lady in counter 3 and get your stamps from her. Tell her the country you are sending to and she'll give you the right stamps ( trust the process 😎) -Step 4: Once you are done with the sticking there will be some blue trays that you can use to drop the post cards Congratulations you post cards will now reach you near and dear ones Bonus tip: There is a street on the right side where you can get a lot of memorabilia and it's pretty nice. I'll add some pictures of what I got

Such a beautiful building, wonderful learning its history. The building is really well maintained, and it beautifully clean inside and outside. The decor inside is also beautiful! They have lovely trinket shops inside as well for some souvenirs. Although they tend to be more pricey than the other main market in the city (but I suppose it depends on where you want to go). Definitely worth a visit when in the city.

Place visited: August 3, 2023 It’s a local post office where not only can you send your postcards but also buy souvenirs as well. Its just a relatively small building, but its location is great considering it’s situated next to the Notre Dame and the Book street. We bought stickers and postcards here as our own souvenirs.

The building was constructed when Vietnam was part of French Indochina in the late 19th century. It counts with Gothic Renaissance and French influences. It was constructed between 1886 and 1891 and is now a tourist attraction. There’s lots of post cards and souvenirs available to buy inside. Definitely worth a visit.

Great building that warrants a visit for sure. Beautiful interior that is a functioning post office mixed with tourist tchotchke vendors and people selling local postcards and various other treats. It’s best to buy your postage here if you are going to actually send anything from Vietnam as it was complicated to find stamps and mailboxes elsewhere. It’s also next to the Saigon book street which is worth visiting because of its specificity.

If you are visiting Saigon stop by to marvel at the architecture of the Post Office. It’s a really unique building from inside and out. You will see old telephone booths. They have some souvenir shops which sell poor quality touristy stuff. Don’t bother shopping there.

I find it so interesting that a working post office is a tourist destination but it is and I think for good reason! Stunning architecture, great selection of postcards that you can choose from and easily pay to send off from there. On either side of the entrance are gift shop stores full of any souvenir you could think of. The postcards on the glass counter in the middle of the post office have beautiful hand drawn and painted ones to choose from. I recommend going for the experience and to say you’ve been!

It’s a nice place to learn history after going to Cathedral and Book Café. They have markets that sell souvenirs lots of cheaper than in Ban Than Market.

@artduhduh Small souvenir shop/stall inside and the price quite similar to other souvenir shops which also located at District 1. I bought some postcards and made a hand-drawn postcard there. Can get the stamp from the shop/stall and the postage is cheap. Honestly, the post office is nothing much more but cool to see. The location is quite near to other attractions(walking distance) and there hv some nice cafes nearby as well.

📍Bưu điện trung tâm Sài Gòn We know this place as Sai Gon Central Post Office. The building features stunning French colonial architecture, designed by Gustave Eiffel, the famous architect behind the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Located in the heart of the city near other popular attractions like Notre Dame Cathedral and the Reunification Palace, it’s easy to include a visit to the Saigon Central Post Office in your itinerary. You can both purchase postcards and send them directly from the Saigon Central Post Office. They offer postal services, including postage stamps and mailing services, so you can write your message, address the postcard, affix the stamp, and send it off right from the post office. It’s a convenient way to send greetings or share your travel experiences with friends and family back home.

Another historical place to visit and see the architecture of the building, it’s still well-maintained and not much changes compare to my last 10 yrs of visit. However, the service here is very slow and not well managed. I went to buy the stamps for postcards which has to queuing up for more than 20 mins while others foreigners who in line also just buy stamps and sending postal.

A brilliant old structure. Very well kept. The Souvenirs are cheaper than elsewhere. Dont need much time here. 15 mins at max. The nearby walking book street is a very interesting place to visit. No entrance fee.

Nostalgic and classic architecture from the colonial heights that you can find here at this building with most of the counter's inside of it had been changed to a souvenir shop or to a souvenir desk. Various of souvenirs can found within of it and the price is also quite affordable with possible bargaining power will help to achieve better outcome. Recommended for people who enjoyed classic architecture design and implementation on Asean countries.

The post office exudes air of another time, entering it teleports you to beautiful architecture and gives you a glimpse of life back then. The airy and spacious floor plan accompanied with many seats allow you to catch your breath away from the scorching sun. For those who wish to purchase some trinkets there are souvenir stores conveniently located with the compound, though prices could be a little higher given the convenience.

A must-see in Saigon/HCMC. A big hall with Mr Ho Chi Min's portrait at the back wall. You can buy postcards and stamps (only cash) as well as few other souvenirs. Shops inside offer a wide range of souvenirs either - there you can pay by a credit card. The place is always full of tourists, hop on-hop off buses start their routes from there. Saigon's Notre Dame in front of the Post Office building.

This was one of my highlights of Ho Chi Minh. We sent several postcards home to Ireland. Such a touristy/bucket list activity. There’s lots of post cards and souvenirs available to buy inside. Definitely worth a visit

An impromptu visit to the post office. Not really much to view but was amused that it was an post office as well as a tourist place. You can purchase post cards and send back to your loved ones! Loads of souvenirs to choose from as well.

The Saigon Central Post Office is one of the places you should visit in Ho Chi Minh City. It's not just a regular post office – it's a beautiful old building. Inside, it's really pretty with high ceilings and nice decorations. You can buy postcards and stamps, and there's a big map on the wall. It's a fun spot to take pictures and buy some unique postcards to your friends or family.

Beautiful french colonial building. At night watch out for the barely visible steel rope the have taut before the building's entrance. It wasn't there a year ago and I don't know why it is there now, but it prevents you from taking a photo of the building's inside.

  • 4/5 Bryan C. 4 years ago on Google
A well-maintained piece of beautiful colonial French architecture. in its hey days the place connected Vietnam and the world, but these days it's a tourist market, where tourists can send post cards to family and friends back home, or sign up for day-tours. one can also purchase souvenirs and local knickknacks here. including hand-made silver jewelry and perfumes. You won't feel the atmosphere of a post office anymore, though. a magnificent painting of Ho Chi Minh hangs at the back, directly opposite the entrance, along with grand painted maps of South Vietnam and Cambodia, and another of the greater Saigon area, on opposite walls, just inside of the entrance

Very interesting on the inside. Slavish with world map on the ceiling. Ample space for people to sit around, but some souvenirs. Good cubicles for mailers to write postcard and sent them home. I could imagine the amount of people crowding into the Post Office, otherwise the foyer and the stations need not be so huge. Space got smaller for newly designed post office, no longer they are so grand too.

An iconic place whenever you visit Saigon should visit this place, it also close to Center Church and book street. With French style architecture it looks beautiful and unique.

A really grand post office indeed. Reeks of the old world charm of how a post office had been like a century ago. There’s 2 small souvenir shops and 1 more down the central hall. Mail a postcard from here! You will be sure it gets sent out real quickly!!

  • 5/5 Nattapa C. 1 year ago on Google
There are many people who like to take pictures next to this building. But there weren't many people when I went (weekday) When we walked inside, at first I thought they would sell gems. but the reality The post office has to sell postcards 😂 There is a souvenir shop next to it. (Walk into the left hand side) The price is very affordable.

1 of the best Historical landmark when visit SG/ HCMC. Centrally located with many landmarks around (right next to Notre Dame Cathedral of Saigon and near Independence palace). Great for: History, architect lovers.

It's worth a visit. What struck me was how little actual postal business is done here. I found the same thing at the Hanoi Central Post Office. The postal service is almost a historical remnant.

A great place to drop by and pen a postcard to somebody back at home. It will be handy to bring along your own pen as well. They have plenty of postcard selections. Do note that the nearest toilet here is outside near the entrance of book street which you are expected to pay an entrance fee for.

The Ho Chi Minh City Post Office, or the Saigon Central Post Office is a post office in the downtown Ho Chi Minh City. It is located opposite the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica. This building was built in the 19th century with a touch of architecture influence by the indochina and French. Worth the visit. It is still functional if you would like to post a 3D pop up card to your family back home.

  • 5/5 Geemo K. 2 years ago on Google
The 'Saigon Central Post Office' follows the European style of architecture like the Notre Dame Cathedral. There is actually a post office running inside. Send a neighbor to your country while traveling.

  • 4/5 Harshal J. 1 year ago on Google
One will be amazed to see how they have converted a working post office into a tourist place & a souvenir shop in it. Building is beautiful with architecture that will remind you of French era in the country. Only thing to note before coming here is the closing time. Come well before 5 PM, to spend some time there. They empty the hall by 5:45 PM . Easy to reach here by bus or bike.

Beautiful historic site, and it's still a functioning post office, able to buy postcards and send to your friends and family back home.. There are some souvenir shops in this post office and items are reasonably priced..

A beautiful building that also houses two shops where you can shop for souvenirs. Surprisingly, they are decently priced despite being in a top tourist spot.
