Very nice and medival looking Castillo. Fantastic view over Villena and the surounding landscape. Next time, I will get a ticket and take a look at the little museum inside.

Great renovated Castle. Friendly staff. Interesting video rooms. Best view of Villena city. Don't forget to buy your ticket at the tourism office in the centre.

Tickets are available in the Villena Tourist Info, so firstly go there to not run twice upon these all stairs. But after all the exposition in the castle is great, and this amazing view from the top of tower - priceless.

Pretty town, very calm, not too big. Good for 1-2 hours visit.

I enjoyed a lot the castle and the tour guide comments. If you are in the area it’s a must! Look out a lot of steps if want to go to the top

Amazing castle. Architectural discovery with some typical construction traits of medieval fortification construction. Museum worth a visit, be aware of its opening hours

One of many castles in the area only 3euros. Not massive, two outer walls & an inner bailey & keep. Could keep you occupied for an hour or so. And good views.

A finely restored castle, very beautiful. Allows you to explore quite a bit of it and they allow you to roam. More of the castle seems to be accessible every year with a few areas are still WIP. Very cheap entry price for the experience and exceedingly friendly and helpful staff. Hand desinfectants at entry.

Great castle. Well worth the £3 entry. Buy your ticket at the tourist info by the car park.

It was closed when we got there... But still great to walk around and explore. The view of the old houses around it really make you think about the history of the place

If you follow the signs to this place rather than your sat nav it takes you to a small car park next to the Tourist Information where you can buy tickets for the castle. The castle is a few minutes walk and the custodian on the gate is very helpful and knowledgeable with very good English. The castle is superb - a 10th century Arab core that was expanded and updated after the Christian conquest. It has been well restored and there is a very good route that you can follow which covers the curtain walls, inner bailey and keep. There are lots of information boards as you walk through and some great little features like the drawings done by Italian prisoners in the 13th (?) century and marks from the cannonball damage in the eighteenth century siege. The views from the tower roof are both awe inspiring and nauseating if you look over the edge! The medieval core of the city looks interesting too although it is swamped by less than attractive modern development. A great castle to visit and very good value (€3 for an adult) for the couple of hours we spent there.

Whilst you can walk around the outside for free, it's well worth the entrance fee - (3€ adult) to have a look inside!
