We did the kayaking tour through the caves and it was incredible! We got to see the sunrise from the mountains and enjoy our morning on the water. Be careful because it gets really windy on the lake and then all the powerboats come to show the tourists the caves. I recommend using a kayak angency and going in the morning before the weather gets really bad.

Beautiful marble structure. Truly enjoyed our boat tour here. Full Tour is 30000 CLP and last around 3 hours. You visit 5 places the last one is the chapel. All places are very interesting and beautiful.

Beautiful formations and amazing water color to add to the beauty. My wife and I took a two hour boat tour (we paid $30 each) our tour went to both sets of marble caves, the one by Puerto Tranquillo and the other set across the lake by Puerto Sanchez. Both were amazing and I'd definitely recommend the longer tour that covers both sets of caves. The tours are very well organized and the companies appear to work together to fill the next departing boat. Tours run regularly all day long so you won't have to wait long to get on a boat.

Beautiful caves and lake! We took a private tour at 6am so we got to see some amazing sunrise as well! Normal tour would start from 8am till 8pm. Water is calmer the earlier you go.

We went to the marble caves by kayak for 35k from Puerto Mármol, Bahia Mansa. It was awesome and the guide was very nice, but he only spoke Spanish. I advise to get a guide that speaks your language or inform yourself about the marble in advance of the trip.

Amazing place I highly recommend it to everyone to visit. The best way to do it is going by Kayak. The price was about 35,000 to 45,000 Pesos.

One of the most unique cave systems in the world. It’s a wildest and worthy experience. I booked a day tour that goes from Coyhaique to Rio Tranquilo, then the boat ride. The ride was bumpy due to the winds and drizzling rain, but it was patchy sunny. The colors of the caves shine through, tour guide was friendly and the boat driver sure knew what he was doing. Highly recommend!

Great marble caves. On kayaks you can go inside to one cave. Pretty interesting activity.

You should take this trek at least once in your life even though getting to Puerto Rio Tranquillo is difficult place to reach.

I thought the marble caves would be quite touristy and commercial, but I was happily mistaken! It is indeed incredible. I highly recommend doing it with a kayak, as you can get closer and do it more slowly. It is not so tiring and the agencies are super helpful. Seek a tour in Rio Tranquilo.

Over 6,200 years, the huge marble deposits on the edge of the General Carrerra Lake have been worn away by the water, creating caves, tunnels, and huge columns of pure marble. Marble at the surface of the water dissolved the fastest as the water penetrated small cracks, widening them into fractures which were gradually worn away. The result is a marble maze just above the water level, and some islands including the famous 'marble cathedral' and the 'marble chapel'. Although the rock steals the show, if you look down from your boat or kayak you'll see the other beautiful feature of the lake, the bright blue tint that comes from the glacial meltwater. The main marble caves are accessible from Puerto Tranquilo, a small town right on the Carretera Austral, making it an easy stop-off for those doing a self-drive adventure down the famous road. From Puerto Tranquilo, you can take a kayak or boat trip right into the maze of marble caves, spending around an hour exploring. This whole section of the General Carrera Lake shore is full of marble caves and islands, and if you want to get off-the-beaten-track and have a little time, you can visit different caves from nearby villages. These often require slightly longer boat trips and bumpy dirt roads, perfect for those seeking a little more adventure. Base yourself at Terra Luna for easy access to a boat trip. With good weather, the Marble Caves are an unmissable feature of this part of the Carretera Austral. If you're in the area, it's certainly worth stopping off for a few hours to explore them, or even spending a day taking a boat out to the more hidden caves and islands. However it's worth mentioning that the whole Aysen region is packed full of sweeping valleys, crashing glaciers, verdant forests, turquoise lakes and river torrents. There's so much to see here, we recommend fitting the Marble Caves into your itinerary, rather than building it around them. You can combine a visit to the Marble Caves with seeing the nearby San Rafael Glacier, a beautiful wall of ice hidden right in the middle of the rainforest. You can also travel from Puerto Tranquilo to the Exploradores Glacier to hike to a viewpoint, or ice hike on the glacier itself.

Amazing experience. The boat ride is approximately 2hrs. It's gets a bit bumpy , but fun. The landscape is out of this world, there is nothing like it.

One of the most beautiful places you can visit! Highly recommend taking a canoe rather than a boat tour, you can really get inside the caves, worth every peso!!

The marble caves are worth the visit! Lots of tour company's in town to take you, I'd recommend by kayak if you can. ( but be warned, the waves on this lake can get 3ft high in big winds) the water is almost indescribable in its color. We went on an overcast and rainy windy day, and it was still beautiful. The weather was bad enough, however we weren't allowed to kayak it.

It is rather an overrated tourist destination. The caves look more attractive in pictures than real. Still an enjoyable boat trip on turquoise Lago General Carrera. Don't expect solitude, or tranquillity, it felt a bit like being on a tourist circus!

Such a magical place. I recommend going in a kayak bc you can take longer and really appreciate this geological masterpiece. Otherwise, in a boat you probably won't get personalized pictures, the time you spend there is a third (or less) compared to kayaks, plus in kayaks you get way closer to the marble. One great tip to save some money. If you book it at any of the town agencies, it will cost you 45,000 CLP. Instead, ask where kayak companies keep their kayaks?, where will you meet to start the adventure? the answer will be "bahia mansa". Don't book at the town. Head down to bahia mansa. There's a local family that owns the land where every kayak company keeps their kayaks and pays a fee to this family. Instead, book directly with the family. They have their own kayaks, and they charge 35,000 CLP for the same adventure. (you can even bargain a little further when you go in a small group. we did). The experience with them was great. the guide was chill. he took pictures for us. he had very good knowledge and was able to answer every question we had. he didn't rush us. Basically, he let us enjoy the experience as we wanted to.

General Carrera Lake (Chilean part) or Lake Buenos Aires (Argentine part) is a lake located in Patagonia and shared by Argentina and Chile. The Marble Caves, Marble Chapel, and Marble Cathedral are unusual geological formations located on the shoreline midway along the General Carrera lake's length. They represent a group of caverns, columns, and tunnels formed in monoliths of marble. The Marble Caves have been formed by wave action over the last 6,200 years. These caves have formed in a pure marble and are bathed in the deep blue water of General Carrera Lake. The lake is of glacial origin and is surrounded by the Andes mountain range. The ice of glaciers contains small particles and, when the ice melts, many particles remain suspended in the water. This gives an unusual effect – the glacial meltwater is slightly turbid and it refracts the blue part of sunlight. Due to this the water of General Carrera Lake has a distinct blue color.

Beautiful but not breathtaking, so I wouldn't spend to much time in Rio Tranquilo for a good weather. We were lucky enough to get the port open for 30 min when we went there, so our company and another one took the opportunity to take people there, and we had the chance to enjoy some sun rays there. The way back to the port was bumpy to say the least - my back still hurts and I am 28 - because the port closed soon after we left (more wind than expected). Fortunately the captain was experimented and made it back - almost - dry.

I do NOT recommend this tour with Jony. Terrible and shame service. We lost our day and didn’t go on a tour that we reserve. You can find better options in Puerto Tranquilo. We couldn’t go in a tour with another guide because he didn’t allowed us to talk with him (we were “your” clients, like a product for money).

Very impressive! Nice natural marble caves and a nice boat Trip on Lago General Carrera. The Boot captain besides had a lot of fun, driving us back with full power with his 200 hp engine...some people got wet...

At first I thought all the pictures were Photoshopped of this place, but after seeing it in person you see there is no need to edit your photos! Amazing boat ride and views, which all can be done in under two hours!
