Tower Grove House

👍👍 Cute addition to the botanical garden walking tour. Cool that the director of the gardens lived here until they built a new residence for them in the back of the grounds. People often mention house,

The Tower Grove House was built in 1849 and has been preserved and restored, with a considerable amount of opulent furniture and personal items. It makes you feel as though you stepped through a doorway to the past.

These are our 2nd time to visit this place. But the first one I can’t get a nice pictures nor can look closely cause it’s lot of people. So we’re glad we able to have our time yesterday (11-6-2022) since no much tourist that time. A neat place to visit and so nice to see how Mr. Shawn lived. Thank you for let us see it! Surely appreciated.🥰🤩🤗😁

This is such a neat house to take a self guided tour of. There was a man on the second floor who worked at the gardens who told us some interesting information about the house. He said it had been their summer home.

Although due to the COVID-19 pandemic and employee shortage you are not able to journey into the building at this time (10/23/2021) the story of the house provides the answer to how the neighborhood in St. Louis got it's name. Very interesting.

The house is really beautiful, tidy and elegant. From here you can see how its previous owner had kept his own interesting hobby of living amongst flourishing gardens with beautiful flowers' scents. Forgetting about his name I remembered however the owner of the house migrated from Sheffield, England and started his career in the US as a steel merchant. He later built up the votanice garden and this house altogether. Being inside help you to uncover bit of this part of the history, and perhaps if you are curious enough, the history of the region of St.Louis overall.

Very cool, the whole place is great but it was neat getting to go in and see the inside of this beautiful Victorian home.

A beautiful house to visit. As well as the rest of the gardens. You could spend all day here and not know where the day went.
