We went out for my husband’s birthday and stumbled across the Hook & Reel Cajun Seafood & Bar. I highly recommend stopping here to enjoy the seafood bowls. The staff is very friendly and polite. It is the only location in the whole state of Missouri. They provide each table with its own trash can, and packets with a bib and plastic gloves to wear while you eat. They also give you wet wipes if you need them. You will! Only two negatives… plastic forks make it hard to eat/cut your potatoes; the check had a 10% tip even though we were a party of two. Otherwise, I highly recommend. ❤️

My son wanted to try crab legs for the first time. We tried this place, we don't really eat seafood. The crab legs, potatoes and corn (we only got one) was delicious🔥. The barbecue wings and fries was pretty good.👌🏾 The catfish basket tasted like dirt. 😩🤦🏾‍♀️ It was disgusting! The customer service was amazing👌🏾

Came in for lunch, had a craving for crawfish but instead decided on some New Zealand Mussels and onion rings. Of course the hostess twisted my arm into washing it down with one of their Margarita on the Rocks, ok ok it was really my choice but only after seeing her prepare one after walking in. I tried the two sauces she offered but decided they were prepared just right as original cajun and fire. Delicious

😍😍😍 Awesome Service..Great seafood Boil!! That 2nd pic was leftover😁. It was well worth the 115, that was plus 2 drinks and the app. One pot will feed 2 adults😁😁 or one hungry seafoodlover.

Went last week for my son's birthday. WORSE service I have ever had and I am a server. At first we thought the server was new and we attempted to be patient. She brought the wrong drink to my husband, which was a simple spiced rum and coke. She was unable to answer any questions about the menu. She never came back to give refills. We had to wave her down to get my husband a glass of water. The food was not worth the price. Shrimp was over cooked, too much salt, and just low grade seafood. We ended up with a 10% gratuity charged to our bill, very odd since there was only 4 of us. Spent $235.00 dollars for the worst experience I have ever had. If you have any class at all don't waste your time or money.

Yes. These flavorless, shrimp look and taste like they came from a $5 frozen box of shrimp which can be purchased at your local Aldi stock up store. There will be plenty there because no one wants to eat them... oh wait! ..... Hook & Reel has already bought out the entire stock to resale to unsuspecting consumers. $16 wasted on a low quality meal which shouldn't have been more than $7. The tumbleweed blowing throughout the parking lot and inside the restaurant should've been warning enough for me to turn around. Buyer please beware...

I was trying to support a local business. Unfortunately, the crabboil was unfavorable, old seafood was not fresh. IT lacked any type of cajun anything. Now, my mom said the Indians own it, and I did see an Idian young lady as a hostess. catfish was good but a little greasey. The African American hostess was super friendly and helpful. I spent a little over $100 for e ppl. It wasn't bad price wise, but I would find it hard spending that type of money again for that quality of food. I think if they get a cook who is familiar with cajun cuisine and can train the other cook staff, they'll be in a much better position to 10x their business and profits. It's an excellent location. Take advantage of that. People don't mind spending good money if the food is excellent. That would be my advise. Focus on the food.

Unfortunately this dinner was a huge disappointment. The fries were still raw inside and the crab had a chemical taste. The fried catfish was not cleaned properly and was grey an smelled. The crayfish was reasonably okay. The waitress was really sweet and the decoration was cute. If you like this kind of place go for a drink but please do not order any food.

Had an amazing experience here. The food was awesome! The only issue I had was at the end. There is a 10% gratuity included (I'm a server so I'm fine with this). The issue is that the server tries to hide the gratuity. It's no accident that the line on the t crossed over "automatic gratuity" the circle of the total covered the amount of gratuity and the "you" covered the bottom notice of "*** auto gratuity included***" super disingenuous for the server to be doing that. So go and enjoy but make sure you aren't ticked by this garbage technique. Once again the food was amazing!

I brought my 12 year old son here for dinner. The atmosphere was nice, I love the ambiance. Our server was nice and polite. The food was excellent. We had the steamed oysters with garlic butter for an appetizer, they were very tasty and tender. We also ordered the shrimp with noodles and a whole lobster. Both were superb, my son ate every thing on his plate. The only minor slip was that I wasn't given a tool to crack open the lobster claws with my meal, I had to ask for one. Other than that, great job!!! I will return 😊

Fiancé took me here for my birthday dinner because he knows how much I love seafood! First time here and I can say it was absolutely delicious! The service was fantastic and I would like to say she was the ONLY server in the house and nailed it with all her tables!! She was it! Bartender, Server, Runner for food!! We will be back for sure. Thank you for an amazing dinner

We were graciously seated very promptly. It wasn’t very busy, but here I am, slurping with my fingers and the waitress seats every table surrounding me in an empty restaurant. (Not very courteous) Speaking of curtesy, you can forget simple amenities like napkins and knives and forks (as they don’t come default, you have to ask). The flounder in their Po’Boy was frozen and tasteless (not even salted, and that is only offered upon request as well). Their garlic butter tasted like melted margarine and they must use garlic powder because there was NO garlic flavor. And I don’t know what they use in their Crab Po’Boy but it didn’t taste like sharimi. Oddly sweet and bland. Lastly, their mens bathroom was atrocious, mold was growing in the urinal. Unfortunately we had heard great things about this restaurant and were let down. Our waitress was very accommodating. I also wish there was more natural light in the restaurant as upon entering it’s dark and glum.

My sister and I stopped in to dine in and our waiter was nice and the food was soooooooooo amazing. It was a quiet Saturday night which I was surprised about. We have the seafood boil with the Hook and Reel Special Blend mild and it was perfect. I also had the crabmeat fries. Too sweet but good. I just found out they sell their seafood sauce separately which was music to my ears. I think this is the best seafood spot in St. Louis.

Two drinks (one alcoholic, one ice tea), 1 basket of fish, a kids meal, and an appetizer of two crab cakes was almost 70 dollars. Ridiculously overpriced for a casual (at best) lunch. Drink was so strong it was undrinkable, which they refused to correct or take off (but gave me a "to go" cup and "watered it down") because of the price. No vinegar for fish and chips (also staff that stare at you in bewilderment when you make a request). Stood waiting for a table b/c no hostess in sight, and she seemed confused that we wanted a table. Won't be back.

The food was seasoned to perfection! But the waiter was hovering. It was 30 minutes to closing and the only thing the waiter was concerned about was when we were going to pay. He didn't remove any of the dirty dishes, he wanted payment.

Customer service was great. Food was a good and well seasoned but it can be little too salty if your someone who is managing their salt intake. They gave large portions and we all went home with Togo plates because no one could finish their food. I will definitely be returning.

Good food! Had the dungeness crab and shrimp with spicy Cajun seasoning. There was only 3 people working so service was a bit slow but we were politely informed of the situation b4 we sat down so not a big deal.

My fiance took me here for my birthday dinner and I have so many things to say about how wonderful the atmosphere, the food, and the service was. I will keep it short butttt: the food was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. such huge portions and wonderful flavors!!! The service we received was wonderful, the staff was so so friendly and polite, and the food came out very quick!!! We will ABSOLUTELY be coming back in the future!!!

My husband and I had dinner here. I had the catfish basket. The catfish tasted like dirt. The skin was left on before the deep fry. The breading seemed overcooked, but the inside was slimy. My husband had a boil of his choosing. He went with head-off shrimp and the snow crab legs. The crab shell was rubbery, but my husband said it tatsed okay. He didn't mention the shrimp taste. There was an auto gratuity added to the check of 10%. Our waitress was nice enough, but I do not recommend this restaurant. We will not be returning.

The dry rub lemon pepper wings and the bread sticks were terrific! Part of the happy hour menu-5 wings and 2 beautiful for $5. The margaritas are huge. Service was top notch . The didn't have any raw oysters though.

Just tried this place for the first time today. Janae was simply amazing her customer service is on point from beginning to end she did not miss a beat she also makes this drinks which she can def mix up a great drink. I tried the catfish poboy sandwich with a side of lobster bisque soup which was good I also had the hush puppies and the salmon bites which was excellent. I will def come back. My girlfriend tried on of their seafood boils which she said was good as well.

Solid take out. Their card machine was down so it was cash only but the food was typical seafood boil. Really great. The whole place was empty which made me a little nervous but I had no complaints about the quality of the food. I will say I’m not sure how they measure their seafood. I ordered a half pound of scallops and shrimp and it felt very light - like 7-8 scallops and they’re miniature so I had a hard time believing they were half a pound.
