The best Japanese restaurant in cairo because they have japanese chef who has long career with know-how of raw fish. I think hilton hotel would delegate hugh rights to him to make the restaurant more japanized style by whatever chef want such as varieties of food makeups which no other japanese restaurant have in cairo for sure!! In addition, I felt like I was in japan with multiple evidences such as soba, donkatsu, etc, which made the restaurant more uniqueness here in the cairo. eventhough all was perfect, too salty soba irritated me a little. Anyway, I will visit again soon. ------------------------------------ Today, I visit again again. Main Chef koma always take care of customer. We had deep conversation about Values or goals of his life. He told me that 1st value is to make customers are satisfied with foods and services and happy when visit. 2nd is to train junior to become good chef. and last is to take care of himself for his family. I was deeply moved by his mind. Thst is why Japanese chef is irreplaceable because of his great mind. I had another beautiful dinner in cairo life. ------------------------------------ Last day, I visited again and again. Still perfect in food and service and mood

The best and only true Japanese restaurant in Cairo. Fish is fresh and they have Japanese dishes that you can’t find elsewhere in Egypt: onigiri, udons, curries, bentos…also the only Japanese place that has pork and alcohol. Definitely recommend, specially the chef’s suggestions sashimi and the makino roll.

Makino managed to remain low Profile while being too popular which is a complex equation for any Sushi place in Cairo. Nestled inside Hilton Residence Zamalek, this restaurant is everything RIGHT when it comes to Japanese Sushi presented outside its home town. The actual restaurant is not fancy in terms of interior / setting nor presentation yet maintaining Japanese Chefs is fancy & raw enough for what their menu is offering. Their Sushi is the most Authentic for couple of reasons: 1- the rice ain’t overcooked nor stuffed in quantity like many other venues, 2- the quality of their fish is exceptionally fresh. Do Not miss on their grilled Fatty Salmon that is Considerably expensive in terms of portion versus price yet worth every penny. Unfortunately they ran out of Tuna the day we were dinning in but i heard its to die for. Other than this, their menu can satisfy all Sushi fanatics in terms of variety & taste. I would have easily skipped their Matcha ice cream but my partner encouraged me to try it but I would easily pass next time 😀 and I am also excited to try their Ramen dishes next visit.

Definitely not the best Japanese restaurant I have tried. Vegetarian food selection was limited to only 3 options. Expensive for small portions served. Servicing staff were too busy. Yes they do have Japanese sushi chef. Good selection of sushi for those crazy for raw seafood. Besides this restaurant is aged and needs a major update to continue charging these kinds of high prices.

(Translated by Google) It was very delicious! There are many Japanese restaurants abroad that are far from Japanese, but you can eat with great confidence. Although it is relatively empty during the day, many Japanese office workers and their families are visiting at night. It may be better to make a reservation at night. Since the menu is abundant, you can order variously like a izakaya. You can come every day.

I’ve never written a review on a restaurant but this truly deserves one. Not that this is by far the best sushi place in Egypt but really A world-class sushi experience by a very dedicated chef. You know a sushi place is good when it’s filled with Japanese folks. Keep up the great work Chef !

I was expecting a high quality food becuz I heard the chef is Japanese. But I never saw a Japanese chef. Also the food was so so, and overpriced for its quality. Sushi was okay but upon was too salty. Basically just soy sauce soup. Half of the four or five tables was empty without the sign of "reserved" but they told me that the tables were all booked. The staff is not paying attention to us either.

Agreed other people comments ... maybe the best Japanese restaurant in Egypt. Authentic, excellent quality and Japanese head chef there ... no doubt about the standard, and surprisingly many choices on menu.

Location within the hotel. Enter the hotel entrance and take the left path. It tastes good, but has a slightly fishy smell and is disappointing for the price. There is a Japanese chef. Eel rice bowl and seafood ramen are recommended. However, the sushi and rolls are not very good for a hotel restaurant. The price is a bit high so I hesitate to go there again.

This is by far the best sushi resturant I have ever tried, tuna was so fresh and eel was too delicious to be true, staff was so friendly and they made sure we left with a smile face and a happy tummy

I am Japanese and this is the very best Japanese restaurant not only in Egypt but most likely in the African Continent. The menu of this restaurant is exremely rich and it goes much more beyond sushi.

Beautiful ambience and the best service ever. Makes you feel like you're in Japan for a few hours. Beef Gyoza tasted amazing, but could've been pan fried longer. Curry udon noodles were tasty. Ground beef ramen was good; noodles were wonderful and chewy, but the broth needed more love and depth of flavour. Was happy nevertheless because not very often do we get to have real ramen in Egypt. Finally, the grilled eel with unagi suace on top of rice was absolutely heavenly.

Maybe the only authentic Japanese restaurant in Egypt. Many locals probably won’t like it because they mistake the monstrosities filled with chicken and steak for sushi. Here it’s all about the fundamentals. Plus it’s also the only place I’ve found with actual Ramen! If you’re looking for loud music and tackiness, go elsewhere. If you want a good Japanese meal when in Egypt, come here.

Miso ramen was awful, large portion was actually half portion, meat wasn’t cooked, half egg, soup and other topping/seaweed? were meh, the noodles itself was good though but very very small portion. The gyoza was meh. Came expecting one of the best Japanese restaurants in Egypt and it was expensive for nothing and very disappointing.

One of the best Japanese restaurants you can find in Cairo. The Chef is Japanese and makes good sushi and other dishes too. I will definitely go there again. It’s a bit pricey but definitely worth the money. ごちそうさまでした🙂

I’m leaving 4 stars because the grilled unagi was delicious and service was as expected. However, we also ordered the sushi and chicken bento box and the chicken was a tad over cooked. I would recommend improving grilling and presentation skills.

Restaurant has 2 areas. Inside is much nicer. Outside was a bit hot. Ok Japanese food for Cairo. Curry was indian curry not Japanese curry but katsu was good.

  • 4/5 Haitham F. 2 years ago on Google
The food was good and the staff were professional and polite. We enjoyed the Egyptian twist on some dishes while still maintaining an authentic Japanese flavor. The sushi was as fresh as you can get in a Japanese restaurant in Egypt which was pretty decent! The rice was not overdone and the quantity was not too much. The only downside to this place is that it is incredibly overpriced. Expect to pay triple the normal price of a sushi restaurant in Egypt and double what you would pay in the West.

  • 3/5 David N. 7 months ago on Google
Ordered 3 dishes. 2 were good- grilled saba was very good. Japanese curry was very bad- sweet like indian not Japanese curry. Biggest problem is that there is smoking next to outdoor tables so we had lots of smoke constantly in our face which is bad. Owner should move smoking area away from tables.

It’s best Japanese restaurant in Cairo no doubt. Proper Japanese food. I’m always satisfied with their food. But the reason why i gave them only four stars is sometimes-rarely happened-food’s quality is really random. I think when only Egyptian staffs work(Japanese chef or staff is off) they don’t know what ingredients use.. One day i ordered udon which is i had before, and its noddle is totally different. It wasn’t udon noddle.

(Translated by Google) Great, a very extensive menu, interior terrace and very well-kept tables (Hilton level), excellent salmon sashimi, the perfect Hana of the day (especially mackerel). Finally, grilled unaju with rice as a dish of the day: a 10. Very friendly service, we exchanged a bottle of white wine for a colder one (Le Jardin du Nil 2018). I would repeat for sure. Repetiria seguro.
