We stayed on the night of 16th and 17th nov 2023 . Location location location. If you want to spend less ( one fifth ) , and get the same views as Ritz and Hilton this is the place The rickety elevator is a bit of a put off and we landed up lugging our luggage two floors before being told of a complex electronic 🗝️ mechanism .😁😕🐒 Once you over come this it's a decent place to spend time and save money is other wise an extremely noisy and chaotic city Metro station, cafes , Nile promenade and uber rides to all important places can be done easily. Thursday nights get very noisy and un- sleepable , but i guess that the nature of cairo . Rooms were clean the bathrooms a bit small and awkward .

We stayed for two nights and had a really good experience. The rooms are clean and have lovely individual designs! The location comes in super handy since it’s directly next to the Egyptian museum. Don’t get confused when you enter the building since there is no real sign, just go up to the second floor and you’ll find the reception. The staff is really super friendly and helpful with anything you need. Little side note: the little street stall just opposite to the building’s entrance is just fantastic, really nice guys running it. Strongly recommended to go their for any small errands.

I stayed here for 3 nights in 3 different rooms (booked separately by accident). I’d recommend the elite double, called hathor, if it’s available, as it’s quite spacious and aesthetic. Other rooms were significantly smaller, with the smallest room not even fitting my open carry on suitcase. The front desk manager was super helpful in answering my questions, helping store luggage, exchanging currency, etc. The Wi-Fi was somewhat spotty and shower pressure / temperature was not consistent, but these things are to be expected for downtown Cairo. Location is perfect as you’ll be steps away from the Egyptian museum and a quick walk to Tahrir Square, which is a central area with a lot of restaurants and shops. It can be a bit hard to find the entrance as it’s in a super old building with a janky elevator but there’s usually a nice butler who greets guests.

👍🏻 This budget-friendly hotel boasts a prime location right next to the Egyptian Museum. With affordable rates, friendly staff, and proximity to this iconic attraction, it's an excellent choice. * The hotel reception is located on level 2* 👎🏻 While the room lacks soundproofing, the nighttime noise from the roadside might be a consideration for light sleepers or those seeking a quieter environment.

+ We needed a simple and cheap place in the centre of the city to rest and have a shower so the small room was enough for us. The place was clean. We appreciated the small fridge in the room. The bathroom was tiny but fine. Our room was facing the busy road so it was quite noisy all the time, but we didn’t mind that much. If you can’t fall asleep with the noise, bring the earplugs. - We haven't been happy with the staff in the hotel. They have tried to help us with recommendations what to see in the city but told us incorrect information about timings. We ended up spending money on taxis going to the places which have been closed already. During check-out, we needed to wait for the receptionist to check our room before we leave. We accidentally dropped a chocolate cream on the bedsheet and the receptionist made a drama about it. He checked the towels as well. They have been white, but of course, after using them, there have been some light beige smudges, probably some residual dust or make-up or so. He was asking us what it is and that we have to pay for them. We refused and left. I have never seen such a rude checkout. Not coming again.

The worst place to stay in Cairo. Last year was ok. But this time was the worst experience ever. The staff wants to charge for anything they can like that you make “dirty towels, Sheets”. After 22 days stayed they want to charge me for dirty sheet. Even got it cleaned outside and returned back to them. With elevator not working for 4 days and no WiFi internet and fridge is not working properly. And dirty matters and sheets and pillows are so dirty.

I loved that place ! Yes, there are stairs and the building is old BUT you will find a very dedicated and welcoming staffs no matter the time of the day. I slept so well in their fantastic giant bed and I can't only regret for staying there only one night at the time cuz their tours propositions looked so great ! Definately a place I would go back to if i have a chance !

Nice, clean hotel just across the Egyptian museum. The people at the front desk are super nice and will help you with all your questions. I stayed in the Amun Ra suite and i have to say, definitely worth the money. Ps: its at tahrir plaza, so it can be noisy ( like everywhere in Egypt) It was no issue for me, I could even sleep without earplugs. But for lightsleepers... definitely bring earplugs and you should be fine.

Thank goodness I have chosen this extremely beautiful and affordable hotel right in front of the big Egyptian Museum of Cairo!! I only need to walk few meters and cross the street to get in! However crossing that street is extremely dangerous the cars never stop the flow!! All people have to jaywalk in order to get on the other side!! And as I was coming back home to the hotel and crossing the road one car on purpose speed up and drove in my direction as if to hit me. The sentiment of Egyptian people towards Caucasians is not good these days because of the Palestine victims, any Caucasian looks like a war criminal to some of the Egyptian Islamists. I really think one needs to take care. that's why it was really wonderful to have chosen this hotel and the staff, all of them were so kind and so helpful to order food online on the Egyptian app and when my credit card could not go through they helped me complete the payment in cash. Depending on your plan, breakfast might be included and it was nice! there is choice between local and western type. Room suite is extremely beautiful and clean with a beautiful bathroom and has all amenities that you might need. although from outside it's not easy to understand that it is a hotel since the suite rooms are on two floors inside a larger building that does not have "Hotel" displayed outside. It's really the best place to stay when you want to focus on visiting one of the most amazing museums in the world! And since I had the CAIRO PASS, I could go the museum everyday again and again without waiting in line. At the end of the trip the hotel prepared for me a shuttle car for the airport and it was great!! much better than an Uber that might not be able to find you in that crazy traffic. I ordered food from one of the great restaurants and since the Hotel provides microwave, I could warm it up and keep the rest in my fridge in my room, which was very helpful to avoid going out to eat. Ancient Egypt has left so many treasures and I'm very happy that I did not cancel the trip because of the current war situation but I must warn caucasians that it is not a joke and the people sentiment on the street is negative at times, it is best to blend in, not wear shorts and sexy outfits and not stand out, rather get from AliExpress some men's/women's Long Islamic outfits "thawb" / "abaya"+"hijab" and wear those for your safety. Once again thanks to the hotel and the wonderful staff there, it was very beautiful and safe to be there, will definitely stay again when visiting the Cairo Museum!

You might not know the place as it does not have a front view, you have to go into an old building, go to the second floor, and you will see the hotel. No need to worry about the front.

Knowing that we’d be gone from sun up to sun down for tours, we were truly just looking for a place that was in downtown to keep our bags and sleep. This is just that and way more! It’s safe, friendly staff and clean rooms. It is a decent amount of stairs to climb to get to your room but not a huge deal. The rooms have a fridge, a/c and heating, a vanity and a tv. It was clean and they supplied us with towels, soap and shampoo. There is not a safe or iron. The bathroom is small but fine. Our shower evidently was missing the shower head hook which we weren’t aware of till after we checked out. We just assumed that is what you get with budget stays. The water pressure was great, however the drain may have been clogged as the water did stand while showering. You can request toilet paper. They do have complimentary breakfast starting at 8/8:30, we just were never around for it because we had early tours. They will bring water to your room upon request. Easy to reach the staff using WhatsApp. It is right in downtown Cairo so super walkable and right across from the museum which is awesome. You will hear car horns all night into the morning though because the city never sleeps! Overall we enjoyed staying here! It was just what we needed. It’s a budget stay so don’t expect to have resort style amenities but if you want a safe, clean, super affordable and walkable sport to stay in, this is it!

Location: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Room: 4/5 Cleanliness: 4.5/5 Comfort: 4.5/5 Cost-benefit: 4.5/5 On arrival, we almost gave up on the hotel because the building is very old/scary, not to mention the elevator that might just fall at any moment... Then we got into the room, and we decided to stay all four days. It was, by far, the most spacious and different hotel we stayed in Egypt. The hotel is located near the Museum. You can visit walking, which is a big plus. Many stores and places to go from there, and the uber is not too expensive to most places. Zamalek (fancy neighborhood) is just 30 minutes from there with heavy traffic. It is true, however, that the place is insanely noisy. The rooms are not sound proofing. It was annoying even for me, who lives the whole life in front of an avenue. The service was great. The front desk guy was one of the, if not the, most kind person we met in Egypt. He was very attentive due to my stomach pain, helped me to replace the spicy soup I ordered at night and kept offering some tea for me. I wish he was promoted, he really deserves it. Thank you for being so kind and friendly with your guests. Oh, he very kindly microwaved my food, thank you so much. The room was very clean, the A/C was working nicely and the bathtub was quite comfortable (did not sit though). We were surprised by a toilet paper sculpture on the toilet vase, a charm I'd say. The breakfast was fine. The mint tea was fabulous, as well as the falafels. Overall, yet a little overpriced given its proximity to the points of interest, it was a nice room with a great front desk.

We loved our stay here. The room was super comfortable, hotel in a super convenient location, and the view was great. We stayed in one of the new top-floor rooms, Geb, and it was awesome! Hosts were also incredibly sweet and accommodating. We were glad to have booked a half-day tour to the pyramids through them for the next day. Breakfast also awesome. If we make it back to Cairo, we know where we will be returning!

The hotel is in a great location, super clean, and the staff is really helpful. You should definitely book a daily tour with them and ask for Lula as your guide. She's a sweetheart and knows a ton about Cairo. You'll have a blast!

Great service . One of the receptionist even exited the hotel to help us find a specific bus station . Nice view to the Egyptian museum. One bad thing was that there was no sound proof windows and therefore we couldn’t sleep easily with the busy Tahir plaza outside .

  • 4/5 Matthieu T. 1 year ago on Google
The hotel is more and less ok but as the location is pretty good, you have a lot of noise during the night. Staff has been very helpful and always helping. If they improve the soundproofing, then the hotel will be great.

The reception staff are very helpful and very friendly. Bed is super comfortable. It’s next to the road so can be quite noisy from traffic below.

  • 5/5 Jordan E. 1 year ago on Google
Really good rooms for the price paid. The receptionist / front desk person was very kind and helpful and made us feel very welcome. As others have warned. Be prepared for road noise from outside as cars are constantly honking. It didn't affect us but if you are light sleepers come prepared. (Pretty much every street in Cairo was honking)

We were a group of 3 and fell in love with this quaint and warm hotel. The staff was ever willing to help and polite. Special mention to Marcelo and Alaa, our hosts, who helped organise an evening Nile cruise for us plus ordered food at unearthly hours at night. The breakfast was modest but filling. An affordable, superbly located, clean, comfortable and memorable stay. Till we meet again, Tahrir Plaza Suites, you’ve built a special place in our hearts.

The hospitality, the staff, the cleanliness of the room are top notch. The location is perfect. the only down side which is not related much to the facility itself is the surrounding noise as it is in the heart of Cairo

The stay was incredible, thanks to Marcelino for taking good care us. He was super helpful and nice. He answered all of our questions and showed us affordable activities that we could do during our stay. 10/10 would book again.

Location right in front of the Rits and the Egyptian museum. The room was clean, spacious and with cool AC. The service was amazing, everyone was so helpful and made us feel safe and amazing. For example, i broke my sun glasses and they fixed it for me without any strings attached. Highly recommended. The only tip for future travelers. It is located on a historic building so there is no signs. If you take an Uber it will leave you in the corner right in front of the square, it's an ornate tan building and the hotel is in the third floor.

  • 5/5 Conor L. 1 year ago on Google
We had the perfect stay here. The staff are incredibly attentive, warm and welcoming. The tours they offer are great and the location is superb, if a little noisy. We got the driver to pick us up at the airport but if people decide not to, the hotel could be difficult to find. It is located on a building on the corner where there are 2 large doors, one half open. The hotel is then on the 2nd floor.

Been waiting here for a little over an hour to get into a room that we had booked over 2 weeks ago. I stayed here with the wife last year, and it was the same shenanigans. I really wish they would do better.

Tahrir Plaza Suites is the best cost-effective option in Cairo if you want to get a true feel of downtown Cairo. Like every big city, it’s noisy, even at night. Our room was clean, spacious enough to accommodate two guests. The staff here was very professional and helpful. They went out of their way to provide assistance and help with locating restaurants and tourist attractions around Cairo. We stayed in three hotels in Egypt; Giza, Alexandria and here. All hotels in Egypt tend to offer sales for a variety of products such as tours, rides, COVID-19 tests, etc. I noticed Tahrir Plaza Suites were not as pushy and aggressive as the other hotels. I’d definitely stay here again.

Very cosy, tidy and great location. Best of all the receptionist Dua'a goes above and beyond to make guests feel welcome and settled. She helped alot with sorting out my bus tickets among other things

Great hospitality! Their staff was very nice & helpful, especially Doaa. I stayed in Hilton nearby as well & surprisingly Tahrir Plaza's suite was way better than Hilton for one third the price. Will highly recommend if you need a place with good hospitality & nice staff!

One of the best places to stay in Downtown Cairo and the best Hotel we stayed in so far. This hotel was a lucky punch with really affordable prices specially for a hotel in this kind of category in this historical environment. The rooms are clean and will be cleaned if you request it every day. The bathroom are equipped with towels, bathing shoes, free shampoo, shower gel and soap and it have really hot water if it's needed and all in it work properly so you will not wish anything more while your stay. If you need you can book a breakfast for a small amount of money with traditional or european stile food. A laundry service is available too and we used it twice. Every room is also equipped with a Kettle and some tee and coffee so it was perfect for all our needs. We had a beautiful equipped room aemed hathor and it was very quiet. By the way the AC worked really well. We also joined one of the luxurious suites for some days that will give you a beautiful view to the museum and show you the real way of life in Cairo as a City that never sleeps. If i compare it to the hotels i already stayed in then it realy was the best one we could find in Cairo and we where very happy about it. All members of the staff where always unbelievable friendly, helpful and make this stay for me and my wife to feel like we had a home. This was our first stay in this hotel in the last month for about two weeks and it will not be the last. So when i alone had to come back this month to cairo it was sure for me to stay again in this Hotel and the staff make my stay great again. Thanks to all of you from deep of our heart for all this unforgettable time. We came as guest and found friends and a place to call home. There are many more expensive hotels that will not offer you this kind of atmosphere and service you can found here. I highly recommend it to all future visitors of cairo downtown.
