We found bed bugs upon inspecting the beds. Bed bug confirmed by an entomologist friend after sending him pictures. Hotel told booking they would offer us a refund but have ignored messages to make that happen. They wanted us to cancel our booking so we would not be able to leave a review. We left. Entrance a bit scary. tons of chain smoking in the lobby. Hotel lobby on 7th floor, elevator may or may not be working.

Not recommended at all!!! The only good thing is great location. Staff is unprofessional, starting from reception dude, looking badly to fool people as much possible with prices. Room is super small, fridge is not cooling, there is no view, AC is weak as well. In the washroom they are not providing towels!!! What a nonsense! And also in the room there are 2 beds, but only 1 pcs of blanket. Hostel is always noisy, reception full of smoke, which you can smell in your room as well. No facilities , no services, very bad hostel!!!!

I felt so disgusted that we left and booked another hotel. Here’s why: The hotel looks nothing like the pictures, or maybe it looked like that 20 years ago. The entrance is scary. The elevator has no door (literally) and it’s extremely dirty. We booked 2 rooms and both of them were honestly disgusting. There were a lot of insects in the bathroom. In one room we had 1 towel that was probably once white but it was now brown In the other room we had none. They gave me a small one (face one) and they called me pretentious because I requested a bigger one. The sheets have stains all over. The bed covers were probably there for 20 years and have never been washed. They are dirty, with hairs from like 50 different people and with plenty of stains. I do not recommend anyone to go even if the room was 5€.

We planned to stay somewhere else, but had a last minute problem, and got off the airport taxi look for somewhere else. It was right in front of this place, so we tried, and are glad we did. The staff are friendly, and gave us a nice room, with a view across the street to a beautiful old colonial building. The room is large, with bathroom, and hot water. The street traffic is noisy, but less so late, but a bit of "white noise" on the phone and we slept well. Great location. Only small problem is that you can't call the elevator from the 5th floor, but no problem when going up. Very good price to value.

Avoid at all cost! I arrived late in the day only to find out that they did not have my pre-paid room available. Just hours before my arrival I had whatsapped them to make sure that everything is fine and they lied to me saying my room would be waiting for me. When I arrived, they said they have no room and would give me a room in a sister property which looked much worse. I asked them if they can organize a stay in a nicer hotel and they refused. Just to make sure: I had a confirmed reservation, just saying this again! Also, the lobby looks not even close to what they show online. Avoid at all cost.

Absolutely disgusting place. I have never experienced a “hotel” like it. The entrance looks like something from a horror movie, I don’t know how the building it still standing. We checked in to have a bathroom with ants on the sink, a dirty mirror and ONE half used toilet roll. Bed was covered in hair and bugs and even when we were given a new room it was the same. Dirty walls and inside lockers filthy with stains. No sign of anywhere to get a drink of water or food. This place should not exist.

The most inconvenience accommodation you can have, lift sometimes doesn’t working, you have to buy your own water, you cannot have a restful nor quite sleep due to street noise and non-insulated windows for rooms with balcony.

Please don't go there, staff didn't recognize my booking even I have the confirmation code. It was after midnight, front desk is very bad and even rude, this hotel not recommended at all

Regarding the price and the quality of services (room very clean) it is an amzing small hotel, the staffs were very helpful and kind even the breakfast was delicious. I stayed only one night but the next time when I will comeback to cairo downtown I will book in this hotel despite the elevator that not works during the weekend.

Simple place, if you waiting fancy stuff, definitely this place is not for you, if you don't mind with it and just wanna a place to crash by, it's worth cause of location. Islam is a truly gentleman. Helped me when I arrived at 2 am, was at street waiting for us, brought our luggage and made our checking without further problemas. Wonderful staff. Truly gentleman

If you want a room with air conditioner that is leaking water everywhere and exposed energized electric outlet, it will be your first choice. I told the receptionist about the leaking air conditioner and he kindly dried the floor and promised to call the maintenance as soon as possible. When I returned at 1.00 AM ot was not fixed and another receptionist temporarily put water containers to collect the leaking water.

Hotel is in old building, located middle of cairo, in the 7th floor, old elevator, but rooms are refurbished with no electric kettle. it has a private bath, mini fridge, hot water, shower and free Egyptian breakfast. staff are nice and very reasonable prices.

I consider this hotel is my home in cairo. The no.1 for all the 3 i stayed in cairo. The hotel is very near Tahrir Square, food shops, fast food, coffee shops nearby. Even I travelled other cities of Egypt i keep coming back here. Because of the staff are polite, friendly, trustworthy and I feel safe in the hotel. Main points I look for a hotel is cleanliness, good comfortable beds and hot strong shower (you dont have to take time just to take shower, the water is strong). Their laundry is a little higher to the previous hostel i stayed, but tiptop cleanliness and smell really nice, you pay right price. Other hostel they wash your clothes inside the building so its not really dried and smell like "wet stored clothes". They have kettle, small fridge, cable tv with english movies (MBC 2 i think), the internet is good enough. They provide towels, soap and tissue paper. They will respect your privacy and make sure you have a pleasant stay. The presentable room and toilet is nice and clean. Same as picture on the their hotel photos 🙌 Ask questions they will help you as much as they can. They help me also with ordering food coz some drivers dont speak english. Maybe the ground floor to elavator doesn't look appealling but you are safe in the hotel and the level floor very clean. I had 4 American gusets, my brother, and me. we were 6 people stayed for 3 days and 3 nights. Bishay helped tp arrange a car for my guests to bring them to the airport. He was very helpgful, patient and very nice. Bishnona helped my guests carrying thier 8 luggages to the front building, and was very nice, polite, and communicated very well with my guests. Mohamed was the first staff we meet when we arrived. He welomed usat the hotel when we arrived. He was warm, and friendly. Mohamed helped with our luggages,give us keys and alos showed us the place. we were very thankful to staff for their kidness and hardwork. Thank you Bishnona, Mohamed and Bishay.

The Hotel is in the best possible location you could ask for. It is located right in the heart of the downtown area of Cairo and only a 5 minute walk to the famous Egyptian museum. The value for money is unbelievable. For just a few dollars you get your own private room with air conditioning and very clean and comfy beds. The room was spacious enough and the bathrooms were very clean as well. The staff especially is very friendly and helpful. They helped me book a beautiful night dinner cruise on the nile without any hassle. They were also so kind to arrange an airport taxi without me being scammed. They recommended good restaurants and places of interest in Cairo. I had an excellent stay at City hotel and i can say this is my go to place if i were to come back sometime in the future.

I am giving it 3 stars simply because it is walking distance from a lot but it is hard to find. The place is scary to get to the hotel and the room was not clean but we were there less than 12 hours so we didn’t make a big deal of it. The room was pretty small and we upgraded to the balcony room but you literally had to jump over the bed to get to the door for the balcony and even then the chairs outside were damaged.
