We found this place and we really liked the concept of having art, books and a cafe in the same place. There are multiple beautiful rooms and intimate areas where you can work quietly or enjoy a coffee or meal. We ordered the oriental breakfast. The foul was well seasoned and the pita was soft and wonderful. The meal was really delicious. The problem that I have is that smoking is allowed throughout the area (from what I understood), and the windows were closed in the room that we were in. A man came in the same room as us and started chain smoking. Sorry, but that ruined the experience for me. Why can't there be designated rooms for smoking and non smoking? I get that some people don't mind, but I really hate it and I don't understand how someone can enjoy their food when all I can smell is cigarette smoke.

Visited Monday afternoon so the place wasn’t overcrowded and I had a chance to observe all the antique details of this cafe. You definitely want to bring your laptop and stay there for a couple of hours. Huge windows, books to go through and coffee. Opposite the cafe there is a gallery with antique interior pieces - worth a visit too. Overall, a must see gem in Zamalek!

If you're looking for an instagramable spot in Cairo here is suitable for you. There are some rooms separated and each room have different concepts. The ambience is super nice and well decorated. You can have a relaxing time away from clouded city. I ordered black coffee which is deep roasted and yes has good aroma. ☺️The staff was good. However, I have a one thing I have to tell you. Every coffee shop in Egypt allow to smoke. This shop YES. No exception😂 If you are non smoker you have to cope with this situation. I am non smoker and I wasn't able to stay for long. 😟

One of the best cafes in Zamalek, it’s a bookstore, so customers will talk extra softly. Nice structure and interior, coffee is normal but the ambience wins.

Beautiful cafe and bookstore with different rooms; each one has a different vibe / different decorations. Lovely food & drinks.

Artistic cafe, great place to work as a digital nomad. The staff were friendly and courteous, but the food was bland and boring. They had smoking and non smoking areas, along with quiet spaces which no one seemed to take notice of. Overall I liked the experience but wouldn't go back for the food.

I wouldn’t have “Bookstore” in the title of this place. It’s mainly a cafe and in each room there are shelves with old, dusty scattered books. We only ordered drinks (fresh juice and green tea) that were too pricey. The juice was nice, but the tea tasted like medicine. Overall, the service and atmosphere were okay but not worth the hype based on the other reviews.

This place is aesthetically pleasing, and quite nice to sit at if you want a quiet atmosphere with some classic Egyptian music. However, it's almost like every single person goes there to smoke, and if that's your thing, that's fine, but it wasn't really my or my friend's thing, so we were going to suffocate by the end of our 2-hour-long visit, especially because there was little to no ventilation. The drinks were fine, the latte frappe was really delicious and the orange juice was nice. The book variety there is not that big, and most of the books there are not really interesting, coming from a literature enthusiast. My problem was the service. The barista, also the waiter and manager of the place, was rude. And the fact that photos are not allowed in this place is absurd because this is not something monumental or historical, it is literally just a cafe where I and my friend wanted to take nice, vintage-looking photos. That, and the heavy smoking with no ventilation is why I took away two stars from this place.

It's so noisy although a "please be quite" sign is there. Not recommended for people who want a quite place. You can go with a big group of your friends and make noise

A very cozy place in the middle of zamalek. I loved how traditional and chill it was. The kushari tea was amazing and the service was ok. I definitely recommend the place if you are looking for a traditional experience in Egypt

A great place to relax from noisy Cairo. I love sitting there, taking a double espresso and a mint juice and reading the books and journals that are layed out. Clean toilets with toilet paper and soap. Nice staff. Worth the relatively high prices.

quaint little place, good coffee and good simple lunch with plenty of books to read. also, interesting books ar local artisan work for sale but an advice to other visitors : please don't take photos including the face of other visitors, if you can, exclude them out of your frame. secondly, it's a cafe/reading/work/chill place so keep your voices down a little.. #respectothers

A supposedly smart and quiet coffee place, where you get the same backward music than in the deepest and most conservative parts of the Egyptian countryside. A huge disappointment considering the care with which it was vintage decorated 🤷🏻‍♂️

Nice and cozy place. The music should be lower and the bathrooms need renewing.

Cafe with a mystical ambience, several rooms for working, networking or simply drinking coffee! I can highly recommend the cheesecake. It also has nice little things and a lovely antiquarian bookshop next door.

I loved the place. Real authentic. If you’d take the music down a notch, it’d be the full package.

It's dark, smokey and chilled. The coffee is pretty good too. If you like that sort of thing, this is great.
