Great place to have your PCR for a good price ,here in this center the cost of the PCR is less LE 600 than anywhere in Egypt ,even in Governments center the cost is LE 1790 for non residents ,but here is LE 1100 FOR RESIDENTS ,and none Egyptian for 1400 ,they open very early and working 7 days till 12 midnight, one can have the PCR in 2 hours for extra charge

I visited this "teaching hospital" (in most countries they are the best) for a Covid 19 PCR test. It is very difficult to find and no signage whatsoever to help you find the area taking sample. Apart from a disinterested (and borderline rude) staff in the accounting section I had my test on Sunday evening around 5pm. The clinician used the same swab in my throat and nose. He said (translated) the result will be available around 5pm the next day. The laboratory is in the same building. We returned 24h later and endured a completely farcical 5 hours waiting at the results section as they said the result was not available and we must wait. We waited and waited and checked with the non-English speaking woman every 30 minutes. We were repeatedly told the result was not available. 1730 stretched to 1930 when I saw that my result, using an online link was negative. However, we were told the result must be signed by the doctor, who seemed to be MIA (Dr. Zeinab Fawzy) I showed this to the increasingly uncooperative woman at the results window but all I got were hands were thrown in the air ("I know nothing") . I used Google translate to tell her that I was flying at midnight but it made no difference. Long and short, by 2100 they turned off the lights and waived me away to another window who told me to return to the window now closed! Whilst there were a few males who tried to assist the females were about as unhelpful as you can get. They represent poorly on Egypt and Sisi's attempts to show a modern Egypt. I nearly missed my flight and Ain Shams teaching hospital ruined my last night in Cairo when I should have been celebrating a nice dinner with my friend in Cairo instead of stressing about catching my flight which I only narrowly did catch. Doing the traveller PCR here is a very bad experience. A lot of waiting time due to bureaucracy and corruption (people paying to registration employees to skip the order), people are crammed in a small place with no respect of social distancing protocols, the lab is not clean or disinfected after each patient and the test itself is done carelessly and I doubt its accuracy ( they use same stick for mouth and nose as opposed to separate ones in Ireland for example and they don’t ask you to inhale strongly to make sure the stick reaches the highest point in your nostrils ). The price is a bit less than private labs but I don’t think it is worth it. Better be safe and pay more next time.

The doctors are all specialist in their fields, their Emergency unit is also top notch,. They are quick and reliable. I took one of my friends in emergency unit bcz he was having pain in his hand after playing football they did ct and x ray and it took 30 sec to identify that my friend had scaphoid bone fracture and the doctor was so good he explain to us where the fracture was located and how deep it was. My experience was during August and September 2016. The doctor who was treating my father and the young doctors (nowab) of Surgery 4 department (at that time) were extremely careless and do not feel or care about pain of the patients at all.
