A Glimpse into Time: The Zoological Museum at Giza Zoo 🐾🐘🦓🦒🐍🦉✨ The Zoological Museum, nestled within the Giza Zoo, is not just a museum; it's a living testament to Egypt's commitment to wildlife preservation. Established in 1906 and relocated to its current site in 1914, the museum has undergone several renovations, with the latest redevelopment and reopening in August 2015, transforming it into a three-story marvel. 🏰 Historical Evolution: The Zoological Museum stands as the pioneer animal museum within the Giza Zoo, a cornerstone of Egypt's natural history. Its journey began in 1906, and over the years, it has been rejuvenated in 1962, 1988, and the grand reopening in 2015. Step inside, and you'll find yourself traversing through time, witnessing the evolution of the museum itself. 🌍 Panoramic Diversity: Designed to complement natural environments, the museum's panoramas boast a rich biological diversity. Housing rare or extinct mammals, birds, and preserved reptiles, the exhibits provide a captivating insight into Egypt's wildlife heritage. It's a breathtaking journey through ecosystems that have shaped the region over centuries. 📚 Educational Halls: Within the museum's walls are two halls, one housing a complete scientific collection of Egyptian birds, reptiles, mammals, and rodents for research purposes. The other hosts training sessions for students and wildlife enthusiasts, led by experts dedicated to raising environmental awareness and preserving wildlife. Historic photographs of dignitaries who visited the zoo in bygone eras add a fascinating touch. 🔄 Renovation and Revival: The museum has been a witness to its own history, experiencing renewal in 1962, followed by another in 1988. After an 18-year closure from 1998 to 2015, it emerged, renewed and reimagined, offering a modern and engaging experience for visitors. 🦓 A Collection of Stories: Most of the animals and structures in the museum were once inhabitants of the zoo, memorialized through taxidermy due to age or illness. Additionally, there are specimens sourced externally, including the "Ostrich of the Nile" presented by King Farouk in 1943 and various preserved birds and mammals. 📸 Photography Friendly: Capture the magic without worry! Photographing is allowed within the museum premises at no extra cost. Document your journey through time and share the wonders of the Zoological Museum with friends and family. 📊 Impressive Numbers: With 1,352 preserved birds, 555 mammals, 259 reptiles, 115 skulls, 49 heads, and 35 skeletal structures, the museum is a treasure trove of zoological wonders. Some specimens date back over a century, echoing the rich history of the zoo itself and the late 19th century. 🕒 Practical Information: 📍 Location: Giza Zoo, Egypt 🕒 Hours: 10:00–15:00 (Closed on Tuesdays) 💰 Admission: 10 EGP The Zoological Museum at Giza Zoo isn't just a collection of exhibits; it's a living narrative of Egypt's wildlife legacy. A visit here is not merely a trip through a museum but a journey through time and the wonders of the natural world. Happy Exploring! 🌿🦒🦉🌺

Very nice experiences and amazing animals, just poor glasses display and power was disconnected for about 15 minutes. Highlyrecommended for visit for children's and adults. I suggest to pick up a digital camera with you inside the museum as the glass quality make it more harder to take nice photos. I was astonished that it was established by British authorities in 1898 and the director was a british for over 25 years and he has established the shape of the Zoo currently

Located in Giza Zoo, the museum educates the park's audience as well as its entertainment side, and the construction work that was completed on August 3, 2015 has made it the museum - the first and largest animal museum in the Middle East. It contains 1352 mummified birds 555 from mammals 259 from reptiles 115 from skulls 49 from heads 35 from skeletons, a museum database has been prepared containing all the contents of numbers, types and scientific names for mummies. The museum’s history dates back to 1906, when it contained models of rare embalms, skeletons, skins and skulls for most animals, birds, and wild reptiles. It was renovated in 1962 and the creation of new durams that included some wild animals and birds of the Egyptian environment. The museum consists of three floors to display mummies and basement at the bottom of the museum to store the rest of the mummies and at the entrance to the museum there are two rooms one of which is for conferences and lectures and includes a collection of photos of delegations and important visits to the garden and the other room includes rare scientific groups which are a huge reference group in the division and classification of the animal kingdom and it is a scientific group present in Egypt Only which number 536 mammals and rodents and 6254 birds and is referred to when defining any of the mammals, birds and reptiles, it serves thus students in zoology in all areas. The museum includes a variety of mummies with their natural and geographical environments as well as a group of heads and skulls in addition to the middle foyer that contains a number of skeletons for some mammals, birds and reptiles. Also on the second floor there are mummies of Egyptian environmental animals and reptiles and a cave containing skeletons for scientific comparison between humans, chimps and humans The jungle and apes, a display of ancient collections, a group of butterflies and insects for the first time in the museum, in addition to the third floor, which includes a display of birds according to the scientific division of the different ranks.

The Giza Zoo is a zoological garden in Giza, Egypt. It is one of the few green areas in the city, and includes Giza's largest park. The zoo covers about 80 acres, and is home to many endangered species, as well as a selection of endemic fauna.
