(Translated by Google) Al-Nasir Qalawun Mosque .. A mosque and a beacon for knowledge on Al-Muizz Street It was not only a mosque for prayer, but a beacon for knowledge as well ... That is the Sultan Al-Nasir Muhammad Bin Qalawun Mosque, which was built in 1304 AD. The Sultan Al-Nasir Qalawun Mosque is located in Al-Muizz Li Din Allah Street between the King Al-Mansour Bin Qalawun Mosque and the Al-Zahir Barquq Mosque. That the just king was deposed before his completion, and Al-Nasir Muhammad bin Qalawun was assumed again in 698 AH, corresponding to 1299 AD. This mosque is not only for prayer, but it is a great beacon for knowledge, as it was attached to this mosque as a school to teach the Qur’an and hadith, and called it the Nasiriyah school, which was one of the beacons of science at that time, as it was also attached to a huge library, in which all religious sciences were taught. Al-Maqrizi described it as being for the buildings in Cairo, as it is distinguished from the rest of the facilities of his time by its aesthetically designed entrance in the Gothic style, which was a strange design for Egypt at that time, as for its stone-built façade, which still preserves many of its ancient features, and is decorated with few rows The depth, and below it, three windows were opened with lintels, topped by arches decorated with ornaments carved in stone, and a pattern on which the name of Al-Nasir Muhammad was written, replacing the name of Katbuga and the date of the start of the work extends along the direction. This mosque has a unique architectural style, so starting from the door of the mosque, it is a gothic marble door, which used to be a church in Acre. It gives elegance to the entrance to the architectural distinction, and leads the decorated door inside, and it is said that Al-Nasir Muhammad bin Qalawun buried his son with a dome inside, next to the remains of his father, who was transferred to the same dome to combine the grandfather and the grandson. This is another site that hasn’t quite made it into the tourist mainstream but it’s fantastic! A complex of about a dozen seperate locations that have been restored and renovated and were the former residence of ottoman nobility. Really beautiful and no crowds whatsoever

Fine looking complex with beautiful details and open areas. Its worth to visit 30-60 minutes and you will most likely be guided by several guides that take you around. Not sure if they are officials or not. You most likely have to pay them some baksheesh in order for the unasked service they provide to you. You have no options, since they bring you to places which are normally not acceptable.

I once read that it is considered the 2nd most beautiful mausoleum/shrine in the world, second only to the Taj Mahal. And that is not an exaggeration! It lies in the heart of the Moez Street, the world’s biggest Islamic open-air museum. The architecture, decoration, ornaments, are all stunning! Coupled with the fact that this place has a long history, has been renovated many times, and has served many purposes (mosque, madrasa, mausoleum, hospital), it’s really one of the most iconic places in Cairo and all of Egypt.

It’s a great complex in Muiz street. Was nice walking through lots of buildings from Fatimid (mainly), and Mamluk and Ayubid era. I think it would have been better if I visited in the evening or at the weekend. I hear it gets quite vibrant then

Beautiful walk, if the weather is pretty, lots of history! Early in the morning or around sunset would be ideal in summer to avoid the heat. Lots of street food, and a few restaurants. A nice walk to Khan El-khalili.

(Translated by Google) The Sultan Qalawun Group or Mosque, Madrasa, Dome and Bimaristan al-Mansur Qalawun is a famous archaeological architectural group in Cairo, built in the Mamluk Islamic style. The collection includes a mosque, a madrasa, a shrine dome and a bimaristan to treat the sick. Its establishment was ordered by Sultan al-Mansur Saif al-Din Qalawun, one of the most prominent sultans of the Maritime Mamluk era, who established a family that ruled Egypt, the Levant and others for more than a century. The emergence of the second Mamluk state (the towering Mamelukes or the Garcas), as he was fond of buying large numbers of the Garrisa Mamelukes and housing them in the castle towers, so they called it Burjia. The dome of the Mansur Qalawun is described by some as the second most beautiful mausoleum in the world after the Indian Taj Mahal. The group is located in Al-Nahhasin area on Al-Muizz Ladin Allah Al-Fatimid Street in the part known as Bein Al-Qasserine, and administratively it follows the Al-Gamaleya department in the Wasat district of the Western region of Cairo. The group is bordered by several Islamic monuments, next to it are the mosque and school of al-Nasir Qalawun, a mosque, a school and the Khanqah of al-Zahir Barquq, then the Kamiliyya school and the Hammam of Sultan Inal, and opposite it is the Sabil and the Book of Khusraw Pasha, the school and the dome of Najm al-Din Ayyub, the school of Zahir Baybars, then Sabil Muhammad Ali and the palace of Prince Bashtak. My most favorite place in Cairo! This is said to be the biggest open museum in the world. You can get to walk from the Northern Old Cairo Gate, all the way to the Southern Gate. It's a very long walk. Qalawun complex in smack down the middle of it, right by Khan Al Khalili Market (I bet that's on your list). This is the best place for tourism in Egypt, no one to haggle you inside the sites, and if you want a guide, just ask for one of the guys standing by the gates. If you're lucky, he will be speaking English. If not, it wouldn't matter. You get to enter multiple sites (7 at least?) with the same ticket. one of them (where you get the tickets) has one of the most beautiful domes in the world. The building used architecture from five different cultures.

Constructed in 1285 AD, Qalawun complex is one of the fine examples of Mamluk architectecture, which is also regarded as a major structure in the very heart of Old Cairo on city's famous and historic Al-Muizz street. As a complex, Qalawun complex has a mosque, a religious school, a hospital and moseleum of Mamluk Sultan Qalawun, who commissioned this complex.

(Translated by Google) It is located in the heart of Muizz Street And sooooo wonderful experience I recommend a visit more than 5 stars The archaeological group is currently located in Al-Muizz Li Din Allah Al-Fatimid Street in the area between Al-Qasrine, which dates back to the era of the Fatimid state, because it is located between two palaces: the great eastern of the Caliph Al-Muizz Li Din Allah and the small western of the Caliph Al-Aziz Billah Ibn Al-Muizz. The landmarks of Kasserine have ceased to exist, and part of the land of the Eastern Palace has been dissolved into the school, the Al-Salihiya dome, the old Zahiriya school (Al-Bebarsiya), the Prince Bashtak palace, the Muhammad Ali Sabil and the old weapon market, while the Western Palace occupied part of its land a school, a dome, Bimaristan Al-Mansour Qalawun, a mosque, the school of his son Al-Nasir Muhammad, a mosque and a school And the khanqah, the dome of al-Zahir Barquq, and the al-Kamiliyya school of hadith. In the eighth century AH / fourteenth century AD, the name Bin Kasserine was used because of the establishment of Prince Bisri's palace and Prince Bashtak's palace towards it. Bayn Kasserine Street had a capacity of ten thousand soldiers, and since the establishment of the Ayyubid state, it has become the location of the most important markets in Cairo and the venue for societies for reading biographies, news, poetry and entertainment in all kinds of games and cabarets.

This place can only be described as epic. A mosque and a madrassa located dead-center of medieval Cairo. It is both huge and impressively ornate. The details alone are worth the price of admission (which is 100EGP). The ceilings of the Madrassa are spectacular, as is the interior of the mosque. Because we were there late in the afternoon we had the place to ourselves, and i tell you, it felt like stepping back in time.

Incredible complex and a great example of the Egyptian Mamluk architecture and its richness. Situated in the heart of al-Mui’zz street in the center of Islamic Cairo, the complex consists of a tomb, madrasa, mosque, and a hospital, arranged on either side of a long, central corridor. The exterior structure of the Qalawun complex has many unique firsts in Mamluk architecture. The prayer hall of the madrasa projects into the street, asserting the prominence of the complex. The madrasa's three-story minaret, uniquely placed near the entrance of the building, has a papyrus cornice that harkens back to rule of the Pharaohs, serving to legitimize Mamluk rule. The 67-meter long façade of the complex displays similarities to Gothic or Crusader styles. The massive size and the details of the complex were truly spectacular and i do highly recommend visiting it during your trip to Cairo.

A madrasa, a mausoleum and a hospital. The complex has what I believe is one of the greatest elevations in mo'ez street. The stucco work is amazing. The division of the elevations into panels help make its vast area moe articulate than solid. The minaret is also a true model of mamluk ornamentation. The inside mihrabs have amazing marble details. A craftsman did a great job with the complex.
